I Got Saved Last Night

I went to a friends church last night for visiting and got baptised after service, but during service I felt the H.S.telling me to go to the alter and kneel down and pour out unto God my feelings. It was a mega church with many people dancing and jumping. Is this normal?

ST. John 1:1 In the beginning was the word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
That means the bible is God and from God.
so in Psalms 149:3 Let them praise his name with dance.
God is telling you what he likes, He is telling us how he wants to be PRAISED.
It not how you want to praise him, God makes the rules and his spirit dwells in praise.
Psalms 149:4 for the lord takes delight in his people and crownsthe humble with SALVATION.
Humble people dance for the lord.... proud people will not. they believe its silly.
---batieste on 6/24/09

Psalms 149

3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

4 For the LORD takes delight in his people,
he crowns the humble with salvation.

5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.
---batieste on 6/24/09

It is normal as long as it is God telling you to do it. Repenting comes first, then salvation (accepting Jesus) and then baptism which represents the death and burial of the old person (nature) the rising to new life in Christ. One thing that I noticed in your topic that a lot of others missed: you herd God's voice during the service and got baptized after the service. It was God. First because you heard Him over all the shouting and praising and second, the enemy is not going to tell you to go to God and pour out your feelings. The devil tries to keep you from doing that. God called out to you during the service.
---drc0369 on 6/24/09

Speaking in tongues is the evidence you can speak in tongues. The evidence of the Holy Spirit is the fruit of the Spirit. A changed life. God looks at the heart not the tongue. I know people who speak in tongues but they live like the devil, the evidence of the devil is the devil and the evidence of the Holy Spirit
is the new life and power that is in that life.
I speak in tongues and it is very useful and satisfying but I had the Holy Spirit before I Had tongues, People cannot live for God without the Holy Spirit but they can live in sin and talk in tongues. If you do not know that you have not been around very long.
---exzucuh on 6/24/09

Corey, please go back and read Paul's conversion experience. Nowhere is there any record of Paul immediately speaking in Tongues the moment he received the Holy Spirit.

But what exactly does scripture say he immediately did?

Well, It says he immediately went to the Temple and preached to the Jews Jesus Christ is GOD....Jesus Christ IS LORD of which Paul clearly says another place....No one can say Jesus Christ is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.

If THAT alone is not the first thing that comes out of one's mouth at matter what language...that alone is a problem one might want to look into!
---kathr4453 on 6/24/09

---Corey in order to have a complete exact duplication experience such as they had in the upper room you would have seen the flames of fire,(because that is the exact description given in Scripture) question, did you see fire??

\\There will be a sound that accompanies EVERY ONE who is born of the Spirit. Unless Jesus is lying?\\

Jesus isn't, but YOU are badly mistaken.
---Cluny on 6/24/09

Did you Get batized in Jesus name and Speak in other tongues as the spirit gave you utterance? If not, you probably do not have the Holy Ghost. (baptized of Water and Spirit) John 3: 5-8 and Mark 16:17- There will be a sound that accompanies EVERY ONE who is born of the Spirit. Unless Jesus is lying? The sound (speaking in tongues) will be described in Acts 2:2-4. So, a normal filling of the Holy Ghost has nothing to do with other (people) dancing around and Jumping. You will know, and will not have a doubt when you truly receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Don't be fooled, your salvation depends on it.............

Ezekiel 3:19-20 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity, but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again,

When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered, but his blood will I require at thine hand.

If you do not warn backsliders to repent you will be judged a murderer.

The GOOD News: Salvation IS JESUS CHRIST.

The Bad News: Those who reject Jesus Christ are lost.

The Good News: Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father.

The Good News: Jesus said I AM the Resurrection, I AM the Life and I AM the way and I AM the Truth.

The GOOD News: You cannot lose your salvation.
---kathr4453 on 6/24/09

It's also like 'spitting' or making a mockery of the Lord, if we think we can be saved and still partake in willful sin. See Heb 10:26+ for proof of this, plus the entire Bible in general.

Be not deceived little children...he who practices righteousness is righteous, but he who sins is of the devil. (I Jn 3:7,8)

Psalms 103:17-22: "But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children, To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts, ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul."

By Jim:

There are many false teachings, this is one thing that keeps people away from the gospel, Some that really bother me are these ...
1. That you can lose your salvation, to teach that is to spit on the atoneing work of Christ and call it ineffective. many claiming to be saved, arn't. its not that they lose salvation, they never had it.
2. Salvation by works, or your particular denomination, salvation is only by Christ, through Faith and repentance. this is called conversion, the converted are regenerated people, 1 cor.5:17, John 3:3
3. The health and wealth gospel, this decieves many and gives a false view of Biblical Christianity. I'm still waiting for that faith healer to come and heal my mom who has alzhiemers.
---MarkV. on 6/23/09

MarkV~ Exzucuh DOES preach the Good News. Now it would be Bad News if he did not preach the whole message of the Bible.

The Good News is that Jesus came to save sinners. The Bible warns us however that not everyone continues to follow the Lord, but that many will fall away. I

It will be Bad News for those who believed that once they were 'saved' that no sin could separate us from God, and then Judgment Day comes and they are judged with the unbelievers.

We want to teach the Good news, but we ALSO want to teach the COMPLETE news.
---Anne on 6/23/09

Anne, it is very important that people preach the good news. There is no bad news that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is all "Good News" While you still don't understand the importance of this doctrine, and what parables are saying, you jump to concusions thinking you are right. But I am here to say you are wrong. There is no salvation outside of Christ. None whatsoever, and if he preaches to them the gospel he knows to be true, he would have to tell the one's that come to Christ, that they can lose the salvation Christ promised because they have to do all good deeds after they are saved. If he doesn't tell them, he deceives them. None will be save as to what is happening in the Word of faith evangelist system.

Anne, 2: It is very important that once a person is save he should be reminded of his commitment to Christ. The Word of God does that so many times. The whole New Testament talks about our conduct and if you are reading Scripture you should know that already. What's more important to do is to teach the Truth. And in the Truth, works don't save, Christ does. It is His works that pay for our sins. It is not our works that pay for it. God will save anyone who turns by faith to what Christ has done for them. And He will furnish you with the strength and the power of the Holy Spirit to complete your asignment. Praise God for the Holy Spirit for without Him, we would never make it.
---MarkV. on 6/23/09

Exzucuh and Mark V~ It is very important to teach the complete gospel as Exzucuh does and not only the 'pleasing' parts of the Bible.

We must remember that:

1. Sin (willful sin) separates us from God whether we were once saved or not.

2. Sin is of the devil...we can't serve sin and God both. God does not 'know' these.

3. Preachers must continue to teach new believer AND mature believers about the dangers of falling away. For we must ENDURE in Christ to the end.

Remember...both Solomon and David were saved. Both these men separated from God since they went to serving evil. David repented and returned...while Solomon never did.
---Anne on 6/23/09

Good for you!
As far as I can tell by your description, this is completely normal and very acceptable to God.
Can I ask, did you obey the H.S.? and How were you baptized? Not to ridicule you, just curious
---donald on 6/23/09

Exzucuh, I am glad you are witnessing to people, I do pray that you never mentioned to them that after they commit their lives to Christ they can lose the salvation Christ promised them. Because if you do, you are not bringing anyone to Christ. That is not the gospel of Jesus.
Matthew 25:30 does not say the person was saved and then judged with the unbelievers. I don't know where you get that from. In fact the servant despise the riches of God's goodness. In verse 26 the master is discribing who this people are, "You wicked and lazy servant" if he was wicked he could not have been a believer. I think you should read the whole context before you say people who are saved can go to be judge with the unbelievers.

Exzucuh 2: In Luke 12:41-47 is talking about people who are unfaithful. In fact the parable is called "The Parable of the faithful Steward"
verse 12:45 discrible the unfaithful steward "To beat the servants" This wicked steward's unfaithfulness and cruel behavior illustrates the evil of an unbelieving heart. What the parable is saying is that there is two kinds of people. The truely saved and the imposters. I think your problem is that you cannot separate the genuine believer with those who are imposters. What happens is that many make a commitment through a wrong gospel. That is why I said to preach the gospel of Christ.
---MarkV. on 6/23/09

King David danced and twirled when the Ark was returned. Psalms 149:3 says let them praise his name in dance. And thats a comand..when you dance you are humble... many people are to proud for that.
there you have it Psalms. No one can tell you its wrongs because the bible just told you to do it. God Bless

MarkV 6/14/09

Salvation is not dependent on believing only,
but also doing what God said to do.

We are justified by Christ when we believe and obey Him.
Defining Faith in James chapter 2.

the devils also believe, and tremble.

Ye see then how that by works
a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Christ taught to keep the Ten Com.,
and if we don't keep them,
we are in danger of the judgment:

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:
and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

By this last scripture if you are not keeping the commandments,
The Father and the Son are not abiding in you either.

Luke 12:45-46 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming, and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken, The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

This scripture MarkV very plainly reveals that this person was saved and backslid on the Lord
He was Judged with the unbelievers. He was a servant that did not endure.
---exzucuh on 6/22/09

Matthew 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

These are servants they represent saved christians

Matthew 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

The Lord judged the saved man as wicked and backslid

Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

He was an unprofitable Christian and Judged with the unbelievers.
---exzucuh on 6/22/09

Ameilia, when God calls you and you hear Him you will respond as you did at that church. It doesn't matter in what denomination it happens to be or if you are at a park, what matters is that you responded. I believe that the timing of God is always right. And when He begins a work in someone, He always finishes that work. There might be many Mega Churches but that does not mean anything only that they have a lot of people there. It does not suggest they are all saved. What matters is that you are. The dancing and jumping is done in many churches today that are Charasmatic. They tend to go more for the music then those that are not charasmatic.

Exzucuh~ That post of yours just brought a tear to my eye and was so kind...thanks so very much! As you can tell Miche and I are basically two of a kind and we really appreciate all your excellent contributions here.

Yes, it is such a blessing to share that brother/sister relationship in the Lord with you which is a forever friendship of the heart and spirit.

I've enjoyed your u-tube teachings as well, and some of your qualities remind me quite a lot of one of my husband's best friends who is very wise and part American Indian. I can imagine all of us hanging out and enjoying some inspirational conversation.

Thanks again bud and keep up the great work for the Lord!

---Nana on 6/15/09

Exzucuh, a great answer you gave to me, with the exception of one thing you quoted. "You say if they don't become tares." Well let me tell you after you gave all those good answers you gave a bad one. Genuine Christians who do all that you said, do not become tares. They are tares its because they were always tares. They do not change like chamelions. They are either born of the Spirit or they are children of wrath. They are never children of God and become tares. Sorry but you are wrong in that one and great answer.

Sister Anne you are like a true friend to me for the sake of Jesus and his truth and that is the best kind of friend because we are truly one in the Father and the son by his holy Spirit. WE have both attended Holy Ghost
university and had the same teacher. God bless
you I wish I knew you, I do not meet very many
like you. But i believe soon we shall see a great multitude coming forth as the wheat and the Tares separate. Many do not know they are taking the Mark that will cause Gods wrath to be poured out on them.
---exzucuh on 6/15/09

Exzucuh~ Amen, Amen, and Amen again to that most most true post you wrote just now. My, how I pray there were more out there like you who preached the COMPLETE truth of God's word.

Too Too many are watering down and sugar-coating the word of God, but you just say the full truth straight out without a bit of compromise. Praise God.

You are someone who truly loves his neighbor just as you love yourself, for you want to make sure that all people stay on the strait and narrow road with God as our master to our dying day, and not get deceived to believe we can have '2 masters' ...sin and God both. We can only have one master, and we better choose between God and sin. God bless you!
---Anne on 6/15/09

Yes I am ,If you do not fall away, backslide,
walk on the blood of Jesus, compromise with the world, willfully sin, not discerning the body and blood of Jesus. If you obey the gospel
and do not become Tares, the children of disobedience, if I keep the faith and oil in my lamp. If I do not begin to beat my servants and to eat and drink. If I will endure to the end be obedient to the word and commandments of Jesus. I will always be saved.

If I don't I will be judged with unbelievers!

Salvation is "based solely on the merits of Christ on the Cross." It is one fold. Not two, three or many, "but one sacrifice."
If you confess with you mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved, for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in Salvation." Romans 10:9-10. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
---MarkV. on 6/14/09

Salvation is two fold.
Lamb of God, Jesus of Nazareth OBEYED GOD, shed his blood on the cross and died. "Romans 3:25 ...through faith in HIS BLOOD, to declare his righteousness for the REMISSION of SINS THAT ARE PAST... Heb 5:9 being made perfect, he became the AUTHOR of ETERNAL SALVATION unto all THEM THAT OBEY HIM."
The BLOOD of JESUS forgives only the PAST SINS of only those WHO OBEY GOD.
"Acts 3:26 ... first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in TURNING AWAY every one of you FROM his INIQUITIES." Resurrected Jesus Christ is SPIRIT and he is TURNING AWAY the INIQUITIES of OBEDIENT followers. But, Christians are rejecting him.

Hello, I'm not sure I totally understand your question, but Congratulations! You giving your heart to God is the best decision you could ever make. It's great that you got baptized. Just make sure that you have completed your salvation by asking Jesus to come into your heart and asking him to forgive you of your sins. Bapstism is great, but in itself does not save you. Read Rom. 10:9-10 and I John 1:9. As far as the people dancing and jumping, it is pretty normal. The people get excited and they show it (imagine a ball game) I hope this helps you!

If all of the above is true, the last thing on your mind would be, "it was mega church",
"is this normal".
Your salvation would be the only important and very real transformation that would be on your mind. All outside obstacles would disappear, your mind would be in the renewing process. If you were baptized, you would have put the old man under and put on the new man. I've yet to see a new Christian come up out of the water with a critical spirit.
---Cindy on 2/27/08

The first thing you need to learn is don't let these devils in the flesh steal your salvation they will come every day and tell you, you are not saved just look them in the eye and say get behind me Satan I will endure to the end and confess Jesus all the way. They have so many reasons why a person is not saved that no person can ever get saved by their doctrines. Just obey the Gospel and stick with Jesus he will never leave you.

I understand everything people said on here & btw I was already following Jesus way before baptisim, I meant is it right for people to be dancing like that, I guess I was taught to show more respect in the Lords house, but it is Penocastal church & that explained a lot.the Pastor baptizes anyone comming forward & you do not need to go to that church to become baptized.
---Ameliea on 6/16/06

If you have a doubt whether you were actually saved the night you were baptized, just get alone somewhere, and talk to Jesus, confess you hearts desire and your need for Him. There are two that need to be present to be saved, you and Christ. The only words that need to be spoken are yours, confessing your sins before Jesus and asking Him into your heart. Being saved is very easy because Jesus has done all the work, you have to receive it by faith which He gives to you. Receive and be blessed.
---Debbie on 6/16/06

Amelia, forgive the "forwardness" of some people on here: When you went to the alter to 'pour your feelings out to God', did anyone pray with you, or explain what the Bible says about accepting Jesus as your Savior? Did you repent of your sins, ask him into your heart and confess him as Lord? Baptism is simply a symbolic act to publicly testify that our old self is dead now, and we have been raised to new life in Christ. The act of baptism in and of itself does nothing to save a person.
---T.S. on 6/16/06

If they were under God's power it is normal. David (in the bible) danced before the Lord. So did you go to the Alter, before you got Baptised? If not then getting baptised done nothing for you. Sorry but this is what the bible says.

Ameilia, what you experienced was Holy Spirit's gently convicting you. Listen to Him.

It's normal in worship services. As we praise, and listen to the Bible preached, He whispers into our soul things that we need to deal with so we can draw closer to Jesus, His focal point.

WARNING: Dancing and jumping is not a taboo, but if this is taught as "proof of Holy Spirit's work in the church" run, don't walk away. Holy Spirit points people to Jesus, not estatic experiences.

Normal can mean different things to different people. What you have experienced is common where the Holy Spirit is moving in a church.
