God is moving outside our buildings always where the
people are at .He Said Go into theworld preaching the gospel highways and byways compelling them to come in..

When did the Holy Spirit NOT move?

Obviously, we're aware of His movement in our time because we didn't live 100 years ago--or 100 years hence.

He's never stopped moving and acting since creation.

What happened to Donna 2277?
---Maumee on 3/20/07

T.S., Sorry,"older generation" sounded like an age group. I, too, believe we are seeing the GREAT FALLING AWAY foretold by the Bible. The kind of people you describe have been around the church forever! I've known many. I see falling away also due to Christian teaching contaminated by New Age and moral relativism taught in schools K-12 and beyond, plus false doctrines of all types. Materialism, multitasking and the cares of the world "choke" off the growth of new Christians.

2. I KNOW what I'm talking about, it's not only happening in our church and in just about every church we know personally, but it's happening everywhere. We constantly hear reports of it happening from friends or family or aquaintances who attend churches where its happening or from other Pastors or worship leaders as well. THIS IS the great falling away the Word Speaks about, you can't open your Bible and not see CLEAR PROOF of that prophecy
---T.S. on 6/27/06

Donna: I'm not talking about a certain AGE group. I'm talking about people who have been "in church" for years, still claiming to be Holy Ghost filled Christians, yet they gripe and complain about everything from the music to the sermon to the carpet color to where the Pastor moved a piece of furniture! Then finally, they get so mad because they cant control everything, they just up and leave.
---T.S. on 6/27/06

T.S.--the "falling away" is due to "religious" older people who can't accept a "new" move of the HS? The HS is changeless. If one hasn't known the Lord for 40, 50 or more years, many things SEEM "new". Those who have been Spirit filled for decades are not ignorant of His ways. Could it be just the music that they don't like, or your superior attitude? IMHO more of the "falling away" is due to increasingly shallow soil on which the seed of the Gospel falls.

Hi Dory Lory, good answer. Praise and worship to me isn't just about the emotions rising and overflowing as much as it about the spirit of a person bowing down ,dying to self until during the process, their whole being is filled with the presence of the Lord God Almighty. They loose themselves, rising in the Spirit within to join God on a Spiritual level ,meeting their King in Spirit, and in Truth to exalt His Holy Name. Becoming an instrument that the Holy Spirit plays to give God adoration.

Our time has always been limited because we do not know how much we have. what is true is that those of the world are getting bolder about pushing christians aside.we are more aware of the holy spirit because of the advancement of the evil but as the holy spirit is god it will never change because god says so himself! caroa

It really bothers me that we as christians all seek the bottom line in serving christ thru the years and yet we have divided ourselves on how to go about it. The bottom line is plain and clear in the bible that we believe, accept christ and be saved. How we go about it is not so clear or we wouldn't have all theses wedges driven between us. (denominations) Where does it stop?
---dannyboy on 6/26/06

Dearest Shira,
I would strongly suggest a study on what the Bible says about praise and worship. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. You could begin with Psalm 22:3 which says that God inhabits the praises of His people (also Deuteronomy 10:21). Another verse is Psalm 8:2 which says that God has ordained praise to silence the enemy and Psalm 9:2,3 which says praise causes the enemy to turn back, stumble and perish from our presence.

Just because emotionalism has no place in determining salvation does not mean that emotionalism is a negative thing. God wants a very intimate, personal relationship with us and emotions are always involved with relationships. God created emotions. He wants us to experience His love (Ephesians 3:17-19 and Hebrews 6:5). You can't experience love without emotions being involved. God bless!

"The new and fresh movement is the praise and worship movement that is emotional in content. That is NOT the spirit of God moving."

Sorry, there's no other way to put this- no offense intended, but- Shira, what gives you the authority to make that sort of blanket judgement call upon millions of passionate worshipers who have chosen to come out of dead religion and into an intimate and deeper relationship with Jesus Christ?
---T.S. on 6/25/06

I am the older generation and I don't see the Spirit of God moving very much. I don't leave a church unless God impresses on my heart to do so. The new and fresh movement is the praise and worship movement that is emotional in content. That is NOT the spirit of God moving. One person in a church can quench the movement of the Spirit in a service.
---shira on 6/22/06

THANK YOU! THIS is very well put:

"If the Holy Spirit lives within you, then how did you go in empty and leave empty"

So many times, dead dried up people do this and then blame the Pastor, the Worship leader, and everybody else because "the service was dry". No, what happens is, the river is flowing, but people are too content to sit on the shores of complacency, pouting because things are CHANGING and they refuse to jump in

The HOLY SPIRIT should be moving in your life all the time, not just when you go to church. Someone said they attended a church that was dead and they were tired of going to church empty and leaving empty. If the Holy Spirit lives within you, then how did you go in empty and leave empty. Teaching the Gospel is the purpose of the church.
---Thomas_D. on 6/21/06

With all due respect, if you don't feel the Holy Spirit moving then maybe you are failing Him. He has never failed us, and the Holy Spirit is our guide until the return of Jesus. If you don't feel his moving then you need to look within yourself, and find out when you lost your guidance and strengthen your relationship and get it back, we have much to do in the name of Jesus.
---Dottie on 6/21/06

With all due respect, a lot of the older generation (I didnt say ALL) are mistaking a new and fresh move of God "replacing" if you will, their traditional way of doing things, the way they've always done it (since THEY'VE been saved, that is) All that's happened is, He's not moving the way THEY want him to, so they get mad and leave. It's RELIGION that's leaving the churches, and it's taking a bunch of it's followers with it! Hence, the great falling away
---T.S. on 6/20/06

I am probably older than most on here and I can assure you the Holy Spirit has left almost all churches. They are as dead men's bones. When I was young, it was easy to find a good church that was alive and I don't mean "emotionally" either. It was alive with the Holy Spirit and over the years I have watched it slowly leave our churches.

The bible says we are not to quinch the Holy Spirit. Since we have and accepted other spirits in His place, He is not moving today as He once did. If He was you would see revivals. What a shame we don't allow the Holy Spirit to use us.
---Rev_Herb on 6/20/06

yes, He is trying to, and IS in the hearts and lives of those who follow HIM and conform to HIM instead of so many we see today who try to stuff Him into their little religious boxes and force Him to follow THEM and conform to THEM. That is evident if you read these blogs at all. He moves when, where, and HOW He chooses, and it doesn't always make sense to US and He certainly doesn't need our permission OR approval.

A downward swirl? I thought it was an upward call. I guess it depends on where your focus is, in the heavens (Col.3:1-3) or in the earth.

Yes I believe this statement is true I also believe that we are accelerating, in a downward swirl towards the climatic moment of the ages. That moment being when the Lord Jesus Christ returns.
