I use to a long time ago. I don't anymore. I don't think God wants me to. Actually, He warned me just the other-day, "be careful what you take in". It will be worth it all, when I one day, actually make it to HEAVEN. Hallelujah+ Unbelievers, I am afraid, thinks it's all a joke.....It's NOT!

jed, you may feel that way but many people are bound to their homes because they are handicapped or ill. I may would watch them if I had nothing else to do but watch tv. just because some watch trash tv does not make them crazy. back in the 80's I watched them and realized they were controlling my day so I just stopped.

The only people that would actually find fulfulling entertainment in a soap opera are the mentally ill.

Crazy, to watched "all my children. ,after "one life to live" and quit 1994.aware of time. We got enough going on in our own lives,we need to be full of god's love forgive all the evil, seek Him with a passion, give our all to HIM because that is worth more than shows ..we need to stay "prayed up!" keep our hearts, mind,on god know how to keep in prayer, love inspite of what people do to us,there is NO time for foolish stuff like soaps we are in a spiritual war!

I used to like "The Romance of Helen Trent." I finally lost track of her, but I heard she died an old maid.

I haven't watched soap operas since I was a Senior in high school. Almost 17 years ago. My mother-n-law would ask me, did you hear about what happened to so and so? I was feeling pity for these people. Until I found out it was a couple from a soap opera. I said, Good Lord, you got me worked up over nothing. I watch tv, but I'm not addicted to the shows I watch.

When I first got saved in 1993, I used to watch 3 soap operas and I loved them and probably was addicted to them in a way...but then within a few years, God told me to stop watching them, for they are not the type of thing a Christian should be watching. So, I stopped. It wasn't easy, I had been watching the same ones for probably 20 years, I felt like the characters were part of my family. But, I had to be obedient to God before anything. He won and I stopped watching! And guess what??!!! I survived!

Pure trash and nothing worthwhile can come out of them. Use your time more wisely. Like reading your bible or doing something good for somebody else.

Soap operas-soft porn why would any self respecting Christian watch it?
---Rev_Herb on 4/9/08

The last time I watched a soap opera was um, um, I was in high school. I watched General Hospital. Where Luke and Laura got married. Now, I have better things to do. I do watch tv. Like Law and Order, SVU, CI, The closer, I like watching Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. He's funny. But I found a website, as soon as a movie is in theaters, I can watch it online. And it's free, cool.
---Rebecca_D on 5/29/07

Truth is I love the soaps.I especially watch All my Children,One Life to Live and General Hospital. There is always a mystery to solve for those who love mysteries, that part is interesting.True everyone eventually marries everyone else on the show it is the perfect example of how NOT to live life. You can make a game of how many times they break which commandments.True Bible study would be more productive though....

Soaps are for dopes.
The Young and Useless.
---Goldie on 5/29/07

Nothing. The time could be better spent in prayer ,kingdom work, bible reading any worthwhile activity beside soaps. No good.
---Robyn on 5/29/07

NV Barb..LOL, Ihaven't heard or thought of those Carmen soap lyrics in quite a while...I used to watch soaps, but when I was born again the Lord convicted after a time. I gave them up.I don't miss them, and I was truly hooked.
---Christina on 5/28/07

i watch days of our lives and what i get out of it is entertainment...... it is only a story on a stage.... it isnt real just like any other story on t v.
---irene7395 on 5/28/07

people are funny. as a writer, I watch one soap every day. I try to figure out why the story unfolds the way it does. many are written that way because many born again people live that way every day and it appeals to them. they commit every sin under the sun, yet profess to be saved. satan knows that. if people actually lived as examples of Jesus Christ and truly loved him, television would reflect it like it did pre-seventies where honor, integrity, morals, values were the norm and not the exception.

Beloved don't watch these people pretend to be demons, that's where all the ideas from the show come from don't you know?

Demonic strongholds in the minds of the writers. Don't partake in thier sin I beg you.

Pro 6:27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Pro 6:28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Can a man dream with demons and not have them latch onto his mind?
I say no

2..'Well that shouldn't matter 'cause "As the world turns," we only have but "One life to live." There remains a blessed hope for you and "All your Children" more hope than 'Ryan' could ever give.If we want contentment, peace in our homes & an end to marital strife, we must live for Jesus Christ, He's the only "Guiding Light"-not one but "All the days of our lives!" ' ('Soap song' by Carmen)

'Gone are the days of Leave it to Beaver, Matt Dillon and his sidekick Festus. Now we survive on the immoral lives of those of 'The Young and the Restless'.They're not so young..they're just restless not living at all like they should. So they go to the "General Hospital, and the Dr's can't do 'em no good. So they keep on with their "Search for Tomorrow" not doing one thing that's right. And they all end up in "Another World" about to fall off "The edge of night." CONT...

I don't get to watch daytime TV but I am off work with pneumonia just now. I had the TV on in the background while I was working on the computer. At one point, when something on TV took my attention, I looked over to see a man and a woman, naked, in a shower having sex! I could not imagine what kind of show it was but it turned out to be a daytime soap. Now I know what the comment below meant when it called soaps soft core porn.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: The word is a weapon but if it is falsely used it is an unloaded Gun, I am wageing war against false doctrine because it is the greatest tool of the enemy because he knows you have what you believe. a schism in doctrine divides the power of unity which Jesus said if we were one like his Father and he are one the world would believe. The devil wins though false doctrine he divides and conquers.

My life is like a soap opera! Someone is either betraying me, or trying to kill me, or telling lies about me, etc., I once heard Joyce Meyer say: "We're in a War." Do any of you ever feel like that? The weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal, so does that mean if we have WEAPONS, we're in a war? Can I hear an AMEN?????

My mother used to watch them faithfully for as long as I can remember. I watched with her as did my siblings. One day as I was watching I began to see just how little in common the soaps had with real life. everythig was overblown, there was always a party, a murder, and several affairs, everyone was marrying one another. It was crazy. I stopped that day, I haven't watched a soap since. In Dr's offices etc, I just laugh and thank God for delivering me back when I was in high school.
---lynet on 6/21/06

Unity, isn't it great! I don't watch them either.

Many years ago when I lived at home, my mother watched "when the stomach churns" & "days of our flys". It was so bad with her accusing my dad of doing whatever was on that week, they almost divorced. She finally grew up & gave 'em up. I later worked in a utility from home to home. I caught parts of 3-4 soaps & realized it made one new soap. I realized what a farce they were. Thank God He showed me the lies & troubles with soaps. He allowed me a family that refrains from such evil.

Madison, you're so right. I watched days as a teenager and recorded an episode a few months back so I could teach my daughter the 10 commandments--They broke every one on that show!!!
---Tracy on 6/20/06

No, never watch the soaps. What bits I've seen look worse than most cable trash.
---NVBarbara on 6/20/06

I used to have a serious addiction to those horrible shows. One day, Thanksgiving 1989, the Lord convicted me that I was not to watch them anymore. I just stopped. I never went back.

They are full of people who do not live Godly lives, liars, sexually immoral, adultery, drugs and alcohol are all glorified on those shows.
