Is this true: a group of Marines came upon a village in Iraq after one of their beloved comrades was killed by road side bomb. While in this village they entered a house and killed the family, one little girl was hiding so she is an eye witness to the killings. It seems the Marines killed inocent people out of rage regarding their fellow Marine who got killed by road side bomb. This is WRONG and if true they should go to prison.

That's a very special name to me.
Christopher, but we called him Chris for short... Thank you.
---Rachel on 6/2/07

Rachel, I don't mind giving out his first name to's Chris. I appreciate your prayers for him and all the others. Bless you!
---AlwaysOn on 6/2/07

AlwaysOn, would you be willing to give the first initial only of his first name?
That's all, it would be easier than
AlwaysOn's brother. One letter.
I know you're careful about names, and so am I.
---Rachel on 6/1/07

I hate this so badly. My heart goes out to these brave soldiers and what they do. They need our encouragement, love and concern. Freedom is not free. We should constantly be on knees praying for these brave hearts, who sometimes lose everything in a moment. I pray for them as well as their entire families. God bless them all.
---Robyn on 6/1/07

Thanks (((Rachel)))
---AlwaysOn on 6/1/07

AlwaysOn, I will pray for your brother.

Elder, it's no longer the acts of criminals that stun us, as much as the acceptance of these acts by society. Nothing moves us. The church of daytime talk shows are selling us books, feel better and get over it, but celebrity therapy is not sticking.
---Rachel on 6/1/07

AlwaysOn, we are living in a different time.
People are tired, worn out and depressed. I grew up in a time when there was a great passion for life. People were passionate about their views. There was the drug culture then, but the American spirit was alert, alive, and we were like watchmen on the wall. We were watching, looking, and observant. You remember, don't you, Elder?
---Rachel on 6/1/07

My father is up there in the years, now. He is still a very passionate man. He cares about those young men and women so much.
It is sickening when we try to find out what's going on, and the news is all about young celebrities in rehab.
---Rachel on 6/1/07

My youngest brother is serving in Iraq. Not only do I pray that his life will be spared, but that his mind and his morals will be spared as well.
---AlwaysOn on 6/1/07

A good reason to be in Iraq is they have freedom. christians can worship now, and that makes justification for the whole war in itself.
---Bob on 5/31/07

Rachel, Wished I'd said that......
Yes, the American spirit is suffering. We are too far from our roots and our God who had sustained us and takes care of us.
We trade our dignity for comfort in the face of evil. We will allow the suffering of others if it doesn't interfere with our sports time on "TV."
Revival is what we need but it will mean forsaking sin by this once great country.
---Elder on 5/31/07

Katie "It is impossible to be pro war and pro life"

Although my rational mind agrees with this, I have to look to God as His ways are higher then my ways and His thoughts higher then my thoughts. Is God pro life? I would assume so. And yet, He has led and directed His people into war on numerous occassions. Why? What is/ was His heart and reason?
---christina on 5/30/07

I love that movie, and specificaly those lines you quoted. Common sense comes from the least likely sources.

Hooo Ahh Rachel!

My father is like Colonel Slade. He's a Disabled American Veteran.
When I was pre-school, I sat in front of the nightly news and watched that daily body count from Vietnam. I remember it like it was yesterday. We don't see the young boys coming home from this war.
As the 'Colonel' said, there are no artificial limbs for the human spirit.

The American spirit is suffering.
People go to anger management and come out enraged. People go to rehab addicted to alcohol and drugs and come out addicted to rehab. Schools and colleges are dealing with mental illness. The Church of Self-Help is not sticking.

We are layering celebrity worship, happy thoughts, and positive affirmations over an amputated spirit. There are no groovy feelings from the 60's/70's.
Prosperity Life Coaches cannot remove pain, heal human spirits or regrow limbs.
---Rachel on 5/30/07

Young men are coming home with a profound sense of despair and hurt.
I remember the young men coming home from Vietnam that could not savor success. They could not believe the compliments that people gave them.
Nothing removed that phantom, that vagueness, that software that kept running in their heads.
---Rachel on 5/30/07

During the Vietnam War, there was a Jesus Movement. Jesus Freaks.

We're too busy watching young women, in and out of rehab, crashing their vehicles, to have a Jesus Movement. The house of Self-Help is bankrupt.

We need another Jesus Movement. We need a move of God. Hallelujah!
---Rachel on 5/30/07

Shari; "The military has been ordained of God" That is a very, very, dangerious notion. In the past such notions always led to the death of Democracy. 'God is on our side and mandates our tribal cause' is an ancient ploy of leaders to galvanize and control a people.

"I've been around, you know?
There was a time I could see.
And I have seen, boys like these, younger than these, their arms torn out, their legs ripped off.
But there is nothin' like the sight of an
amputated spirit,
there is no prosthetic for that."

Colonel Frank Slade (Al Pacino)

I am living in the Mid-east and have been following the stories of abuses by our soldiers. There are a lot of questions on the cases. If we dont abide by the laws and moral standards WE become THEM and we have lost. Having said that this administration is so morally bankrupt that they would have no compunction about sacrificing a couple of soldiers.
---randy on 5/23/07

From what I hear, there WAS weapons of mass destruction because Saddam used them on his own country people! Poison nerve gas was dropped on whole villages, killing everyone.IF that is not WMD, I dont know what is!

I was a soldier in Iraq back in '91, Every action we do is a reflection of not only ourselves, but also the United States and Christianity as a whole. That is the problem with racism, judging a group by the actions of a few or one. If you do a crime, I say you do the time. I don't care who you are, or where you are when you do it.
---Jerry on 6/27/06

If my people will humble themselves and pray.... I will heal their land. I know it is important to speak what we believe is the truth... but when spoken arrogantly, judgementally, and without love, it is noisy annoying clanging. Scripture says the prayers of a righteous man(woman) availeth much... I'm sure His Word carries much more power than our words. It would behoove us to take heed... and actually pray/talk to God rather than spout our personal opinions.
---daphn8897 on 6/26/06

The military has been ordained of God from old but war crimes are a shame. If the thoughts and intent of the heart is to protect your neighbor it's admirable but to abuse the position is terrible.

Please, stop RIGHT NOW and just say a prayer for our country and for our troops.
Thanks and God bless,
---sue on 6/24/06

The information, released in April, was so insignificant even the White House didnt acknowledge it. The DOD said the WMDs found were not usable. If the Iraqis had usable weapons of mass destruction they could not reach the US. Also they would be using them on our troupes instead of these crude IEDs. N. Korea has nuclear products deliverable to the US but since we have NO credibility, no troupes and no money, because of bush we can not act.
---randy on 6/24/06

How do you feel when the American drop laser guided missiles on innocent civilians killing childrens and women. Arresting thousand on suspision without charges, committing human right voilation, what about Abu Gharib, Guant Bay, Hamdiya and many others.
---jaguar on 6/24/06

randy, this country became morally bankrupt and paganistist as could be the day our courts declared the butchering of innocent babies legal! Why worry about rumors from a heathen land? We have gotten as far away from God as we can get right here in this so-called 'Christian' nation. We want to take our democracy to others! We need to be on our knees in sackcloth and ashes repenting before God. How can we take the mote out of someones eye with the huge beam we have in ours? WAKE UP YOU SLUMBERING SHEEP!

Madison1101, The information about the chemical WMDs in Iraq was previously Classified, it was downgraded to Unclassified and released to the news media early this week. It was found in multiple locations, some of stockpiles that Saddam never destroyed.

There were valid intelligence reason for not denominating the information originally, you don't want to disclose the locations until they can be secured, verify their nature and stability, ascertain the best way to chemically neutralize them.
---notlaw99 on 6/23/06

notlaw: You are correct in that they will stand trial for their actions. BUT, I disagree with your statement about the WMD. They did not find them in Iraq.

We need to bring our troops home.
---Madison1101 on 6/23/06

The Marines involved in the incident will have an Article 31 investigation and if warranted tried by court martial under the UMCJ.

Our military presence in Iraq was necessary and justified. Chemical WMDs were found both in bulk store and loaded deliverable artillery rounds containing mustard and saran agents that could be sold on the black market to terrorist. I support the troops and the mission.

Lynn, I have to disagree, war is NOT premediated murder "period".

If God tells us not to kill, then why in Deu 7:2 did God order the Israelites to kill? Why didn't David go to hell for killing Goliath?

In a just war, people are going to die. Its not murder.
---NurseRobert on 6/22/06

David was a man of war he had an anointing to kill and so did his army, but when he found out one of his men had killed Davids enemy in his bed while he slept he had his own man put to death. Only on the battle field or self deffense is a man free from the guilt of bloodshed. This nation has brought this war upon itself, The nation that forgets God will be turned in to hell, I don't think we have seen the worst of it yet, because judgement begins in the house of the Lord.
---exzucuh on 6/22/06

Pkay, no matter how you spin it, the war in Iraq was a mistake. You can say we should pray and support the president all you want, but in the end, this war will prove to be devisive, ill conceived, ill excuted and just plan wrong.

Madison, I have to disagree with your statement. The Marines should stand trial and be punished ONLY if found guilty. Their side has not been heard.
---NurseRobert on 6/22/06

There are many excuses for murder. God tells us not to kill. War is premeditated murder period.

2. Do you think maybe God has removed His hand from a country who honors Him with lips, but hearts are far far from Him. God is not mocked, His arm is not shortened and His promise is not slack. He will do as He has said. Judgement is on this land and we deserve it. You want to protest something? Start with the mass murder of children...
---Rebecca_S on 6/22/06

1. Of course, we do not need to be in this evil war, but what really amazes me are the ones in this country who go overboard about reported war crimes and we have killed over 40 million of our own babies!
---Rebecca_S on 6/22/06

Lynn: There is a difference between an act of war and a war crime. Killing opposing soldiers in battle is an act of war. Massacreing a family in retaliation is a war crime. Those Marines should stand trial and face the consequences of their actions.
---Madison1101 on 6/22/06

When a person joins the military, they are trained to kill. Premeditated murder. No ifs ands or buts... Thou shalt not kill.

If this adminstration is messing up things its because instead of praying, Christians have opted to join the left wingers and liberals in whining and criticising the govt at every turn.I wonder whether that helps.Coz as far as I know, only prayer can change the status quo.For one thing the Iraq war and generally the war on terror is not physical in the least!!
---pkay on 6/22/06

I hear about such atrocities as Abu Gharab and now this massacre, and I'm sickened. I thought we were above such atrocities.

Nevertheless, I said at the time that nothing good would come from the invasion of Iraq, and that it would not be good for America in the long run.
---Jack on 6/22/06

Everyone keeps pointing to "this administration" as whatever negative thing they can think of. I cannot think of any administration in my lifetime that has not been racked with accusations of corruption and/or incompetence. Instead of wagging our tongues... especially as believers in Jesus Christ... we should be humbling ourselves and praying. We only see in part and only see what an extremenly biased media portrays.
---daphn8897 on 6/22/06

To randy; your statement about the president administration being morally bankrupt is simply outrageous, the fact that they have lied to the American people and are guilty of causing the death of thousands of innocents is, well in a word, proof that your statement is true. Outrageous but absolutely true!!!
