I doubt it will hold up to the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade.

Second Chronicles Seven Fourteen. That's 2 Chronicles 7:14. If MY people, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
---Donna9759 on 5/26/07

emg: no, it doesn't necessarily make it right, but like the old Indian proverb says, until you walk a mile in another man's (or woman's) moccasins, DO NOT JUDGE
---Mary on 1/18/07

Sue, understanding why someone does something does not necessarily make it right.

ABORTION, not a hard question. innocent blood is what uinborn children are. God word tells us thst before we were born God new us, before we were formed in our mothers womb. Abortion is Murdering unborn without their consent, aka innocent blood. Someone will answer for it and Iam afraid it may hurt a bit when the accounts are read.

sue , my God is sovereign he can put to death any one any time he wishes.also mike my God is the father of jesus christ the God of abraham, isacc, and jacob. The one written of by paul, peter, luke, james, john, and others in the new testament. I,am a follower of jesus. I claim only that nothing else.

the declaration of independence mentions endowned by their creator.Did the men who signed it meant for the word creator to be there . or were they free masons,on drugs just free wheeling???In God we trust on our money. Most of the signers were ministers.
---tom2 on 7/18/06

mikem, free whatever ,congress still prays befroe each session, and the supreme court.also the fact is jefferson never said what you implied. his letter was about there not being one church in america as there was in England. As I said the separation idea came from the supreme court decsion in the early 1950s. It wasn,t a law just opinions from several of the justices. Somehow people have taken it firsy as presitent then law ,when in actually no law exists.

God had innocent babies killed (stories I've read in the Bible) for reasons I dont understand. WOman/girls have abortions for reasons I can at least sometimes understand.

Zara ... When a criminal is punished, he is not given a choice as to whether to go to prison or not.
In the UK, murderers of the vilest kind can't choose where to serve their sentance. But they cannot have there life taken away.
Now, your live unborn baby, at 24 weeks, has committed no crime, yet he has no choice as to whether to stay alive. Weep for them!
---alan8869_of_UK on 7/17/06

Yes Zara, here in not-so-Great Britain women have the 'choice' to have their babies ripped apart in the womb then dragged out bit by bit, or have them injected with salt to kill them, or have their skulls pierced with a pair of scissors. If that isn't enough, this can be done up until the baby has reached 24 weeks of LIFE, when many would have survived outside the womb. He/she is a living being, can feel pain, excruciating pain, yet this is what women can choose to do to them. Shame on them.

Luckily, I live in Great Britain where abortion is legal in certain circumstances. It`s a woman`s choice ...

History dictates that if religion is allowed to enter goverment its a sure prescription for a dictatership. This is a historical fact Americas founders were keenly aware of. Jeffferson, Paine and the others. Dogma is a demagogues best friend, the most evil men in history, corrupt Popes and protestant potentates were the authers of wars, slaughter, intolerance, theocracy, and ignorance. Oliver Cromwell is a prime example, one of so many.
---MikeM on 7/17/06

Tom; when you say 'God,' whose God? Catholic? Islamic? or if protestant, which concept of God from which of the 1000's of protestants sects do you mean? Yes, there are as many secular fanatics as religious fanatics running amok in America today. Both scare me. Democracy and theocracy are oil and water, they do not mix. People should FREELY choose to follow God, their own conscience, not something imposed by demagogues in power claiming God is directing them. Liberty or death.
---MikeM on 7/16/06

Tom; 1.saying 'Gods word' in goverment IS religion in goverment. 2. Democracy is a pagan concept. 3. whenever religion was in goverment(theocracy)you had despots, history pounds this point over and over. 4. The founders were freemasons and deist. 5. Its true, we are overly secular left at the moment, thats bad, but the religious right wants a theocracy, they openly admit it. 6. when the Bible, be it (protestant, or RCC was the source of goverment/law) it was called the 'dark ages.'

mike m, as the church we represent God on earth, so are you saying that the church would create a dictatorship here in america if not kept separated from government????thats a incorrect and bogusly wrong assumption on your part. dictatorships are and have always been implemented by unghodly viocious, evil men, not of GOD. The true church of God is not dictatorial, it is souls saving oriented.

theres was never anything in his writings about separation of church and state, that was first suggested in the early 1950s by some supreme court justices in a decision they were contemplating.thers is no law on in or around the constitution mandating church and state separation. And actually the congress , and supreme court pray to GOD before each meeting , so wheres you separation there fella?????
---tom2 on 7/16/06

mikem, your absolutely right ,some people don,t learn from history. the actual history is when you remove God from anything ,it will eventually go completely wrong, and fail.when God became politically incorrect we ended up with abortion,no prayer ion school , and evolution being taught to our children above our desire to teaach creation. One other thing . jeffersons letter didn,t mention a separation as you wrongly suggest. his letter was about not being one church as it was in England.
---tom2 on 7/16/06

mikem, as a christian I know that if you take Gods word out of all political choices your are doomed. The government is supposed to be for the good of the people and no good comes from any decision that does not follow the word.Thats the problem with america today God has been removed and we suffer for it. thats my point.separation maybe but not from gods word.

We now have only one abortion clinic in the state of Mississippi. An eight-day prolife rally is being held in different parts of Jackson. There was a bomb threat in a downtown park where the prolifers were gathered. Make lots of phone calls to politicians.

"For 15 hundred years Christianity has been on trial, what has been its fruits? Ignorance in the laity, indolent clergy, vast persecutions, intolerance, endless sectarian wars, and an eternal hostility to the liberty of man. Let the clergy stay in their church's where fomenting damage to liberty can in our fragile Republic be curtailed." Thomas Paine-Letter to Madison, 1788
---MikeM on 7/16/06

"non existant separation of church and state theory"-? Ever heard of Thomas Jefferson? Ever heard of the 'establishment clause' of the constitution? History dictates that unless you want a dictatership the 'Church' must remain out ot the state and the 'State' out of the church. To mingle them is to corrupt both. Democracy-Republic are 100% pagan secular concepts. Church involved in politics have ALWAYS been a prescription for disaster. Some just don't learn from history!
---MikeM on 7/16/06

You can no more separate God from the state than you can separate your heart from choices.God is in everything.God is everything. As a christian when we remove God from any area of society the results are devestating. Why? allows sin to reign supreme in that area.Without God men will not do the right thing.WE must follow jesus,s lead and obey God in all areas even politics,or government. To do less is sin.
---tom2 on 7/16/06

abortion is a sin,and as with all sin a free will choice is made when sinning. Now as far as the non existant separation of church and state theory, when you have that concept within your mind it creates a person lost without jesus lost even more. WHY you can,t separate God from the state. His word says so ,he allows all countries to come into being and wants all to turn to jesus. By allowing this separation to exist you promote non belief.,and remove God from the decisions of the governmant.

I know sin is what keeps abortion legal but I really can,t understand why if you destroy a owl nest, or eagle egg ,or any endangered species you can serve jail time and fined thousands of dollars. yet we kill millions of unborn every year.BEFORE I was formed in my mothers womb God knew me.HE knows the unborn murdered in america .
---tom2 on 7/13/06

As much as I'm against abortion, I don't think there should be a law banning it. That is a decision between the person and God and the state should not be invovled. I thought that is why there is supposed to be a separation of church and state.
---Tracy on 6/23/06

It will be voted on in South Dakota in November, It will be interesting to see what happens. If voted illegal, anti-abortion forces will be mobilized, and across the nation voting, not courts will be the focus. Abortion coud be illegal across the nation in 10 years. If voted legal, anti-abortion is finished.

There is already legal action by NARAL to have the South Dakota legislation challenged in federal court system. I have no doubt that it well be declared unconstitutional.
