Please don't do this: There is a scripture. Besides that It's ugly. It is against the word of God.+++

I have a health note posted on the fridge because my Granddaughter pierced her tongue. That lets bacteria go directly into the blood stream and since the blood flows through the heart, more and more young people are having to have heart valve surgery. Risking ones health to be cool is not cool

Tango - I gather you are probably quite young. Many years ago I was working as a barmaid in a hotel and we got to ask all the older men there who had got tattoos when they were young if they regretted it. You know every one of them regretted having got it done.
---Helen_5378 on 1/3/08

It isn't a secret. It hasn't been a secret. I wasn't thinking about getting a tattoo just to make me feel young. I thought about getting one because that is what I wanted. Christ would say I know where your heart lies and I know that I abide in you and you in me.

We all feel as if we missed out on youth especially if some women married too young, but in any case we all try to avoid the, The broad road of ''Self'' Are you an ambassador of the risen Saviour, What would Christ say?. Your secrets are out, what is in darkness will always come under the scrutiny of the light!

Back in my day, kissing was called locking lips. So now what is it? locking tongue rings....oo....yucko. You need to breeze through the Song of Solomon, I think if that Shulamite would have pierced her tongue, the whole book would never have been written.

If you want to get something pierced, (I can't imagine your tongue) but don't do it so you could be "cool" with your friends. If this is something you want to do and your over the age limit, then you decide for yourself. Don't let others pressure you. You do this for you, just as in everything else. I know I will get hammered on holy people with alot of scriptures but I thought about getting a tattoo on my leg. I haven't made up my mind yet. But this will be my decision.
---Rebecca_D on 4/7/07

It is a passing fad. Many regret later for making these immature choices. Many will misjudge you and think you are "wild" "undisciplined" "perhaps a drug or alcohol user", and it could hinder you from getting hired at certain companies. You also could contract hepatitis from the needle used in getting the process done. It is not worth it. Buy some fashionable clothes, a new hair style, or different nails or jewelry instead, it's safer and you won't regret it later in life.

Once I was talking to a very beautiful young lady. She was beautifully dressed, hair beautifully done, and beautiful makeup on. Almost perfect. Then I noticed she had her tongue pierced. She was trying to hide it, but it was somehow in the way when she spoke. Suddenly her beauty faded away. Tattoos .. well they fade and go out of shape as you get older. It truly is not worth any of it. Find friends who will love you for who you are.
---Helen_5378 on 4/7/07

Did you ever stop to think you tongue could get infection what is this about geting your tongue pierised. my grandson and grand daughter both have done this
---LadywildCat66 on 4/7/07

Denise *God will not love you any less if you do*
Why encourage and discourage in the same breath, hot and cold produce luke warm, Something that if you drink it it will make you sick. Just as God will spew out the idea of luke warm faith/attitudes/ideas.

Tango, seriously either you are going to be on fire for the Lord or Cold, at least God can do something with either.
---Carla5754 on 4/7/07

First ask yourself why? I know alot of people are doing it and it is a trend. God will NOT love you any less if you do. His love is unconditional. I know people who have their tongue pieced and it caused them speech problems and they got a fungus on their tongue. Tatoos are addicting everybody I know never ever just got one. they always get another. If you just make sure it is something you will be able to live with the rest of your live because it is perment. Just like Gods love.

No scriptures support tongue piercing or tattoos. And I would strongly suggest a different, less permanent way, to impress your friends. Remember that you are a child of God first, His opinion is ultimately the only one that matters. If you wish to express your self in earthly ways, try cutting edge hair cut, or a henna tattoo - those you can change regularly until you get bored of them. If you really want to show your inner rebel - go to church regularly and invite them, if they dare.

**I can be cool with my friends.**

Maybe you need a new set of friends.
---Jack on 4/6/07

Don't you realize that ''friendship with the world is enmity with God'' If Jesus was to come pay me a visit one day, or one of the angels that the Bible states that we entertain unaware, I for one would be ashamed to be infront of a HOLY Lord pierced and tatooed. Jesus would never do it, He is coming back for a church without blemish, spot, or wrinkle.
---Cynthia_1 on 4/6/07

There is not any scriptures that supports putting holes in your tongue or tatoos on your body. Anyways, they are ugly!

Bible Is Right. "all jewelry is connected to the occult"?
So you mean when the prodigal son came home his loving father gave him an occult ring?
You mean that the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven filled with precious stones and gold and silver is an occult city?
I hope you examine this doctrine of yours with the Scriptures Bruce quoted.
---john on 4/6/07

You never stated whether you were a Christian?, even so if you want to be cool, try a glass of water, it may just cool you down enough to recognise that wanting to act, dress like a cult or fashion guru all of which glorify ''Self'' will help you find a decent Job, disgiusing them will not be so easy and You'll find none of the mentioned phases will pay you a decent pension or wage to follow them!
---Carla5754 on 4/6/07

You know what would be even cooler? To have your own mind about stuff. Just because other people do it is not a good reason. It's cool to be yourself, be a leader. If you do something, do it because YOU want to do it not cause other people do it.
---sue on 4/6/07

How old are you? When you start body piercings and tatoos, you put yourself in a class of others who are trying to make a statement of who they are. I see a lot of tatoos and piercings with black nail polish, black lipstick, black spiked hair, heavy black eye make up (even on boys).

Bible is right,
With a name like "Bible is right" you would think that you would be quicker to give the chapter and verse to support your claims. With out the references, it is just your claims. Are we supposed to just take your word for it because you are "Bible is right"?

Where is jewlery in general condemned in scripture?

What does the bible say? (God speaking to Israel through Ezekiel)

Ezekiel 16:10-14, "I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk. I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. And I put a jewel on thy forehead,

and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

If you are a Christian, you should be more eager to please God than trying to please your friends. Getting your tongue pierced and getting a tatoo is trying to be like the world rathing than being a Christian . Don't be like the world because the world hates God.Be what God wants you to be .and No getting your tongue pierced and tatoo is NOT in the Bible nor is it Godly .Be Blessed and I'm praying for you

Question. Would you be cooler if you follow your friends or if they follow you? Would they continue being your friends if you did not do these things? If not will you still call them your friends?
---RevHerbsSon on 6/23/06

you will not find this in the true word of God. Maybe in a self-made bible, but not of God. If you want to go through that pain everytime you eat or drink anything, then so be it go ahead, let it get infected and then the Dr will have to cut your tongue.
---Rebecca_D on 6/23/06

Why in the world would a Christian want to look like part of the world to be cool? If you are a Christian, you should set the exampel for others to follow, not follow the world. and here is your scripture:

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

You do not have to go by the law as long as you are under grace but when you walk on the blood of Jesus not taking thought to his suffering for your sin by which there is no more sacrifice refusing to lay down your life you turn from Grace back to the Law that condems you and the curse will be applied. The strength of sin is the law.
---exzucuh on 6/23/06

I can't imagine why anyone would want to be cool like their friends when our Lord commanded us to live humbly and decently and come out from among them. We aren't supposed to do as the world we are saved from. Why should we want to return to Egypt and mark our bodies to resemble a serpent and pierce our tongues to be a part of this world. Be not conformed to this world but renewed in the likeness of our precious saviour by the renewing of our mind.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.<-cutting or mutulating the body
---exzucuh on 6/23/06

If we are going to go by the letter of the law in Lev. 19 then that would include make-up and surgery which are printing marks and cuttings. So lets go with the spirit (intent) of the law. Pagans would cut and paint themselves in cermonies for the dead and God didn't want the Israelites to do that. This law was never given to the gentiles. In the New Testament your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and all things you do to the body should be beneficial to it. Would this be beneficial?

I have no problem with tongue piercing, or tatooes. I don't pay attention to the Old Testament stuff because people pick and choose what OT Law they are going to obey.

I do have a problem with your reason. If you are motivated to do anything to be cool with your friends, then you obviously do not have a good sense of who you are to God. Spend some time studying who you are to God and see how much He loves you and desires to have an intimate relationship with you. Then, rethink this.

Google "tongue piercing dangers" to learn that there is a potential for life threatening complications including brain, chest, or heart infection associated with tongue piercing. There is also a very real danger of swelling which can restrict air passages. All piercings can become infected. Piercing of oral sites carries a high risk of infection and even HIV, hepatitis B and C, Herpes Simplex virus, Epstein-Barr virus and candida. The risks make it difficult to condone tongue piercing.
---DoryLory on 6/23/06

None of them support doing it. What kind of friends are you hanging out with? Are they from church?
---wes on 6/23/06

Once you decide to take it out, your tongue will heal, but there will be a little slit on the top of your tongue and a small blister looking bump on the bottom of your tongue. It really is more of a hassle than anything.

As a person who had both a tongue piercing and tatoo, I can tell you it is a huge pain. For the tongue piercing, your tongue swells and you can hardly eat for 2 days. You will bite the top all the time and, out of habit, will start clicking your teeth with it, damaging your teeth. You will get food stuck around it, causing bad breath. You will have a lisp for certain words and the top ball will constantly come loose. The jewelry is expensive to replace, and you will loose many in your sleep.
---mary on 6/23/06

I really don't have a problem with a pierced tongue, personally I think it's gross and would be uncomfortable. I have a huge problem, that you would do it just to be cool with friends. You are already a beautiful person, I know that because you were fearfully and wonderfully made. Read Psalm 139 for me. Don't be what people want you to be, strive to be what God wants you to be.
---bethie on 6/23/06

No scriptural support will be found. And it is very childish, ridiculous, and foolish to give in to peer pressure. But having said all that let me now say this, I wore ear ring some 50 years ago(I so desperately wanted to be noticed, this was a long time before ear rings and piercings became popular.) Piercing your tongue will not send you to hell. But at the same time it makes you look very juvenile, the regardless of your chronological age.
---mima on 6/23/06

If you need to mutilate your body and blemish it with tattoos to be cool with your friends, you have the wrong kind of friends. Lev.19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any mark (Strongs 07085 tattoo)upon you. I am the Lord. If you can't do it for the dead, you can't for the living. Also the skin is broken/cut to hold the dye.
