Lost Interest In Bible Study
I have lost my interest in Bible study. What should I do not to go astray more than I have? I feel bad about it. Deep inside I know it is really bad but despite it I just can't make myself get back to the Bible. :(

We have choices in life. If you are sincere about your salvation, you know what you need to do. You would not have to ask anyone. You are an adult who knows right from wrong. Do the right thing and get back to your studies. Pray and ask the Lord to help you get back on track. Start with about 5-10 minutes a day. Begin with reading for a few minutes and then build from there. Don't try to study-- just read the word.Meditate on what you read. You can learn a lot through just reading.

You are not alone. I believe we all go through times when we struggle with our studies.
Remember the church in Ephesus, Rev. 2:4. The Lord rebuked them because they had left their first love. We should study because Christ is our first love.
Don't make it a chore. Eccl 12:12 tells us that much study is wearisom to the flesh. Study in short sessions.

Pray first and ask for wisdom. James 1:5 says if we ask for wisdom, the Lord will give it and will not upbraid (reproach) us.
In Acts 17:11 the Christians in Berea were more noble than those in Thessalonica because they studied the scriptures daily.
Don't you want to be more noble?
Paul tells Timothy to study to shew himself approved unto GOD,(not man) a workman that needeth not to be ashamed (2Tim2:15).
I hope this is encouraging.
Lord bless you all.

Elise, you are at a point in your life where you need to be ministered to. Ask other Christians if they have really anointed teachings that you can listen to. Get under the word, meaning, find people who have teaching tapes or are doing in person bible studies. LET THE FIRE OF GOD FALL UPON YOU while listening to His word. Also, ask Father God to "Restore to you the Joy of His salvation." Cry out to God "Don't let me go Lord, please help me."

2. Answering blogs like these keeps us on our toes also because often we have to get out the bible before we can answer. Keep coming back here, reading the questions and answering those that you can. I think you will find your interest awakened before very long. God bless.

1. It is good that you are addressing the problem now BEFORE you backslide badly. Many of us have been exactly where you are now. It is easy to just drift and drift further from God. Pray first and ask God if perhaps you should be using a different version of the bible. Using a modern translation was what kick-started my interest in bible reading again and then I changed back to my older one.

Are you studying by your self or with a group of people.
What type of study tools are you using. Most Christian book stores have one book study guides. There are a lot of commentary resources available one line. Until we know what you find dissatisfying we can't really address your needs.
