How Do You Stay Healthy

Each year that I get older, the more I seem to have achs and pains. What can one do to stay healthy?

Dont be worried about getting enough protein. Your body only needs 5% protein a day and the extra protein you eat your body will not use and get dispose it out the body

But in order for the protein to be wasted by urine it has to pass through the kidneys but the protein is harmful to pass so in order for it to be able to get rid of your body has to buffer it down. and the only way for your body to do that is to take calcium from your bones and use that to buffer it down in order to be passed safely

Deut. 28 is an entire chapter dealing with how to be healthy and wealthy.

Now that is a million dollar question.
There are so many rules and guidlines. Many times one piece of advice negates another which really sounds like it may be just the things we need.
Pray and ask God to help you work out a plan just for you. Once you get it tweaked just so, you'll be on your way.

Aches and pains can come from various things. Some basic things are activity, as you age discipline yourself to become active- walk, maybe even a short jog, and not just sit still all the time. Cut out foods that are high in sodium, this requires reading the ingredients label on the things you buy, and cut down on fats like oils, butter, frostings. And cut down on foods high in sugars and High Fructose Corn Syrup, like candy, pies, soda pops, and alcohol.

I drink a lot of milk and I'm a healthy 62 year old. In fact I look like I'm in my 40's. Just last night someone could not believe, that I was out of my 40's. This is true, so help me God. God has been good to me. Praise Him!

Cut all dairy out of your diet.
Dairy is full of phosphates and sulphates that disrupt the body acid level. Your body has to maintain a even acid level constantly, so in order to balance out the acid level, your body takes calcium from your bones and buffers the acid level in the body. This means that the more milk you drink the more calcium you loose. Kind of ironic since I have always been told I need my calcium from milk. But calcium comes from green leafy vegetables.

Some of the factors required to stay healthy are: First, mental attitude. The Bible tells us our bodies are the temple of God. Second, is good nurtrition. Keep a balanced intake of food. When you eat is also important. For example: breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day. Third, exercise, but get your doctors permission first. Forth, proper spiritual intake. (Bible reading and study, worship service, prayer, etc.) Will this take away all your aches and pains? No, but it will reduce them!

Linking to this subject of healthy eating is there anyone here (perhaps a nutritionist) who knows anything about changing to a completely raw food diet (I don't mean raw meat though). Is it safe to change immediately to something like that or do you know if it should be very gradual, cooking less and less as time goes on. I feel that we destroy so much of the goodness in our foods by cooking them and would like to change.

Don't eat this, don't eat that. We may all starve. A proper balance of protein, carbohydrates, the right fats, gives us the minerals and vitamins our bodies need. Do some research of your own, but be careful of fad diets.
By the way, Eric, men should be wary of eating too much soy and tofu products. It contains estrogen, which is harmful to men.

Part of the cost of getting older IS aches and pains, but you've not made it clear how old you are, nor what the nature of these aches and pains are.

It could be simply part of the human condition.

Or it could be fibromyalgia.

Or any number of other things, including common-garden-variety arthritis.

But you won't be able to diagnose yourself on computer boards, now will you?

don't smoke, don't drink, don't eat canned foods or processed food. Don't eat chicken, it is full of hormones, don't eat red meat or we may get mad cow disease. Eat tons of raw vegetables, carrot juice, walk every day and maybe if you are lucky, you will be healthy.

We do not all age in the same way. Some of us seem to have far more problems, especially with aches and pains which affect mobility, than others have. I think some of this is hereditary but some is self inflicted. What we eat affects our health and how active we were when younger affects us also. If you have been fairly inactive, change that now, but very gradually. Take supplements as recommended by a health practitioner. Some pains respond to heat, others to cold so you need advice.

I was reading an issue of national geographic and they did a story about the people in the world who live the longest. The 3rd group was some people from europe and the second were from east asia I think.

But the people they found after looking throughout the world who lived the longest and are the healthiest are Adventists.
Believe it or not, following Gods diet in Genesis 1-3 has been a blessing to us.

It takes allot of energy for your heart to pump the blood down your legs and all the way back up.
If your lets are not muscular and unfit your heart is working extra hard to pump the blood back up. If we walk allot especially after meals our hearts will thank us!

I dont eat dairy anymore. I drink soy milk. It has lots of healthy calcium with no phosphates or sulphates and has lots of nutrients and lots of protein. Tofu also is incredibly healthy for you. Learn to cook with it, it can be very tasty.

Get lots of exercisem, if you dont walk start doing it. brisk walking burns more calories than bike riding (unless its up hill)

That means that the more protein that you eat the more calcium you loose.

Holland is the country that eats the most dairy products in all the world. Now according to popular beliefs about milk they should have the strongest bones. But in fact they have the highest rate of osteoperosis in the world! Go figure.

I think eskimos eat the most meat in all the world and they have bad bones as well.
