Why did your mother tell you not to stick your finger in the light socket?

Because she could?

Or because sticking your finger in the light socket could hurt you?

Sin breaks fellowship with God, but it also hurts US.

God desires a church that is sinless and holy, without spot or blemish. Sin can lead to demon possession, and Satan's control over us.

, hebrews 10:26, if we keep on willfully sinning, there is no forgiveness left, only a fearful destiny of the raging fire prepared for those who trample on the blood of Jesus.

Because He loves us. His desire for His children is that not one of us should perish & the just payment for sin is death, both body & soul. He paid the full price of our redemption on the cross. We should stand in awe of that & honor and respect Him & His desire out of our God given love for Him. (Rom.6:23>Jn.3:16>2Pet.3:9>Mat.10:28) Not only has He made the request, He has freed us from our enslavement to sin & empowers us to live in that freedom. Free your mind. The freedom from self is within you.

mary, because Jesus said: If you love me, you'll obey me. Don't you want your kids to obey you because they love you? Well it's the same with Jesus, if you love Him, you'll want to obey Him. AND because the wages of sin is death. God said so.

Because He does not want us to destroy ourselves by sinning.

2Corithians 13:14 says, "...the communion of the Holy Ghost..." Sin grieves the Holy Ghost. If a person continually walks in sin they will draw away from Him, the Holy Ghost.

Jack stated it plain and clear, " Sin breaks fellowship with God, but it also hurts US."
The bible says that the wages or costs of sin is death(an end to something). Sin is what cut off our fellowship with God. Remember in Genesis 3 when Adam sinned? Before he sinned he walked with God in the cool of the day, but after he sinned he & his wife hid from God. God has said everything that He has said for a purpose.
