Why Do We Need To Pray

I know God CAN do anything, I just don't believe that He will so what is the point of asking in prayer? If it is God's will for us to receive blessings, do we have to ask first before we are to receive them?

Kathy, if you moved away from a best friend (say to another city). If you never wrote to her, or telephoned her, how long do you think that your relationship would last?

Prayer is more than just asking for something specific, it is a way of staying in touch with Jesus. And today, we need Him more than ever. Jesus will never forget you, but you want to be sure that you will never forget Him. Talking to Him once in a while, is a good start.

I used to pray for a lost friend without expecting God to answer. But He did! Before I started praying for her, I talked to her about Jesus but she didn't get it. She twisted my words because she misunderstood. But after I began praying for her, she began asking ME about Jesus. Out of nowhere a ton of questions. And she understood my answers! I shared the plan of salvation with her. She didn't accept Jesus herself, but she went and told one of her friends. Then THAT friend accepted Jesus!

Kathy,Kathy. First of all. Receive Jesus as your Lord today. Ask Him to forgive your sins and save you. You need to do this immediately.
Prayer is the Christians strength and power source. It is how we communicate with our Father. Prayer is to our salvation as blood is to the body. Very essential for our Christian growth.Without it you are a powerless as a baby without its mother for protection.

Pray for your loved ones.
Daniel 11:32-35
During good times, it's difficult to know who will stay strong or will grow weak and fall. We don't know the hearts like God does.
Pray now for loved ones that they will not lose courage and become a deserter.
I'm praying for my own submission to the Holy Spirit to secure and guide me daily.
Our relationship with Jesus will keep us.
Now is the time to press into Jesus. Don't wait.

The wise in heart will throw every distraction and hindrance out of their lives and run to Jesus where we will be strong. We are not to fear, only prepare.
Pray for loved ones and yourself. Don't wait.

Prayer moves the hand and heart of God. No prayer, no movement. That's what I believe. Also, we pray because Jesus told us to pray and he told us HOW to pray. Prayer isn't just asking for things. It's thanking God for His Peace, His Joy, His Strength, for saving us, etc., Prayer is worshipping Father God in Spirit and Truth. Prayer is Praising Him. Prayer is also petitioning him for what we desire.

God wants his people to talk to him, on a daily basis. God wants us to have fellowship with him everyday. Praying is not just for asking, but it is for talking with God, communacating with him. I talk to God as I would a close friend, I tell him everything on my mind and in my heart. That is they way it should be open and honest.

Just two days ago I said to my daughter-in-law that I have come to understand thta prayer is not about asking reciving and thanking. It is simply about relationship.God loves to just hear my voice and longs to reply. As far as giving He will give regardless. But we are to worship the giver not the gift. He is a loving Father longing to bless us.

We are free to ask for anything. If what we ask agrees with God's will we know that he hears us, and we can be assured if he hears us we have what ever we petitioned for.

Prayer is not just making a list of things we want God to do, and asking Him to do them. It is communicating with God our heart, and seeking His heart at the same time. It is drawing near to Him to communion and fellowship with Him and tell Him we love Him and asking His forgiveness. If all you do is ask for things when you pray, you are missing so much in your prayer life.

kathy, you may want to read the Psalms and see not only ALL of the times David cried out to God, but notice what He cried out to God for, mostly for spiritual things and to be delivered from his enemies. THE EFFECTIVE, FERVERNT PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS AVAILATH MUCH. Live on that scripture alone and you will be blessed beyond belief.
