Can you be arrested for sharing the Gospel in public places? For instance, if you just stand out on the corner and shout.

Moderator - In some places, you need a permit first.

Do a search for "Street Preachers" you will find a lot of information if you look hard enough.

Weather or not you need a permit or not is really not that relevant. Street Corner ministry is generally a noneffective assetivity, there are just so many better ways to share the Gospel. If you audience is not receptive to your message you are not doing any one a favor by engaging in such activity. There are just far better way to evangelize.

Stephen Green, Director of the Christian Voice, was arrested a few days ago in Wales for distributing bible tracts at a gay/lesbian event.

The Holy Spirit won't draw men without they hear the gospel. God's word doesn't go out void. If you are waiting for the Holy Spirit to do the work Jesus commanded us to do, you better get off you lazy butt and start working for the Lord. It is our job to share the gospel and the Holy Spirit's job to convect. If you don't do your part, there blood is on your hands.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

I lived in Britain and the Elders had to carry permits to preach the gospel.

MP ... It would be interesting to ascertain if that is in fact true. I do doubt it myself.

I have been told that several people in the U.K. are in prison for preaching that Jesus is the only way to God. This is considered 'offensive' to those of other faiths and what they should have said was JESUS SAID that He was the only way to God. This is, of course, political correctness which, I believe, is designed to intimidate Christians but no-one of other religions. So it would seem that you can be arrested for preaching the gospel in some places.

Yeah, street preaching is a good way to go for those that have the guts for it.Keep doing it. It works and I'll tell you how.Firstly the word of God that you are verbalising will go flying into their souls and do its warring work. Secondly, people come to the conclusion that you must really beleive in what you are doing and therefore you must really beleive in Christ and that can make an impact.Thirdly you will encourage other real believers like me.

I have presented some Ideas of project that have higher effectively rates then preaching on street corners. Basically the types of program you can conceive of are only limited by the knowledge and dexterity knowledge and experienceof your witnessing/evangelism team. Remember your Christian message has to be non-confrontational; you dont achieve successes by beating some one over the head with a Bible.

Using an existing program could be: young adults who are good at sports and are going to volunteer to spend time in an inner city youth center working with children/youth that attend it. One you have developed a report with them present a Christian message to a small group of them or on a one on one basis. Or members of a target team working in a Big Brother or Big Sister program or just being a youth team coach or Scout leader.

What ever the activity you want to put on it has to be high quality program to entice people in the target group you have chosen to come to it and return to subsequent sessions. You are going to put on you program or event an as a adjunct activity also present a Christian message; after the members have come several times you can invite them to church or other Christian activities.

Some MAY be "called" to this kind of ministry...they'd better be, because it sure makes a lot of folks angry. If people complain, expect the law to come asking you to move. Some do street ministry by just being in a public place, engaging people in conversation, witnessing to 1 or 2 at a time.It used to be permissible, some places, to have a gathering in a public park, drawing people in by music and curiosity. We are all called to witness in some fashion, but there are many ways to do it.
---Donna2277 on 7/23/06

You can have several teams targeting different targeting groups. The composition of the team should have some members indicative of the target group, if not, a significant knowledge of their rational so that you can relate to them and they can relate to your team members. Your team is going to do one of two things; publicize that you have an activity that you are inviting the target group to come to or you are going to an existing external activity.

Realize from the start that there is going to be an investment of time, recourses and training. If all the participants are not willing to commit to the project the project the project may not fail but will not be as successful as it could been. Instead of using a shotgun approach target your projects toward specific target group: a geographic area, high school student, Mothers with young children, people that have a common hobby or interest.

MIMA asked me to share better ways of witnessing than street preaching offers. Most of these methods apply to team projects but some can work for an individual working alone. The first thing you need to do is identify area where you are going to perform the activity example inner city, urban or rural; have some knowledge of the area. My remarks are generally for group or church programs. Good projects require planning to be highly effective.

I do so respect your opinions but I personally feel that if the spirit of God will not draw them to church a street preacher may not either. But, I do honour your views and hope that you have experienced a victory in this area and I hope I am wrong. I too, have done this with no success but maybe that's just me. Good luck and may God bless.

Street preaching is a great way to spread the gospel. You can preach to people who otherwise will never darken a church door. John the Baptist did it, Jesus did it, Paul did it, and I do it. I also know others that do it. Sissy Christians are afraid to make waves today. They think they might get embarrassed or they don't have the guts to do it.
---Rev_Herb on 7/23/06

Give out tracts. You can even leave them on windshields in some places...businesses do that to advertise.

I expect you can be arrested for being a "public nuisance"
I'm not at all sure that these guys who stand there shouting do any good at all.
---alan8869_of_UK on 7/23/06

Witnessing for Christ is not the same thing as using the Name of Jesus as an excuse to make yourself obnoxious.

Standing on the corner and shouting is going to do nothing but bring scorn on the name of Christian among unbelievers.

How to witness in a buisness. First get one on one with a clerk. Next ask clerk your question. Clerk will talk to you, because that is his job, because he wants to rest, because he wants to appear as doing his job to his boss. He will pray with you very easily if you follow this plan.
