God sends both good and evil. He is control of it all. (Isaiah 45.7)

How many of this bride wish to love, cherish, honour and obey for worse, poorer and sickness?
Maybe the few that will "endure unto the end" and don't honour their marital vows only in better, richer and health.
Maybe those who truly love the Lord in obedience and humility.
Maybe those who have an unfeigned faith and love for the Lord.
Maybe to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

God didnt cause all the sufferings..satan did ..satan caused deseases, etc..God gave us all a choice, to follow Him or follow satan..obviously we chose to follow satnn that is why the sicknesses, deaseases etc..

No pain, no gain. No pain, no need for compassion.

Maybe there is a bigger reason for suffering

Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the assembly,

That's what the books of Job and Ecclesiastes are about, aren't they?

All we can say is that nothing happens without God's knowledge providence, He has all things under control--and He doesn't even think the same way we do.

If we knew all the answers and ways of God we would not need Jesus. We could save ourselves and would not need anyone. We would be our own gods.Thank God for Jesus today. I am not a god.
My teachings/experiences over the years has revealed God does things His way, on His timetable. He moves by His own Spirit. He does not have to answer to anyone and he heals whom he chooses to,in his own way and time. But one thing is certain, we should never give up on God.

God allows us to suffer to make us stronger, to make us dependent on Him, as we should be. We suffer to give Him an opportunity to heal us. How else would we know Him as a Healer? Suffering humbles us and teaches us patience. It lets us know we need Jesus. It makes us more loving, it moulds us into better christians who, if we refuse to become bitter, will live to tell the story of how we overcome through the blood of Jesus. Suffering has a refining and purifying quality as well.

for conditioning, perfection, salvation, to name a few. Many whom do not suffer, never will look for Salvation.

Paul spoke of his "thorn in the flesh" which kept him humble. We have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.

Suffering is often the consequence of our sin. That is why the Lord tells us "thou shall not" he knows it will harm us. He tries to protect us. Unfortunately sometimes it takes pain for the Lord to get our attention. Pain is intended to get us to reposition ourselves.

Anthony, everything you said is correct, but many times people suffer because of the evil of other people, or that of unprecedented events. We are asked to have grace and longsuffering, because in this era God is limited in control: that's why evil exists. If we trust Him, as much as He can, he'll give us rest. See my comments on 5/14/07 (today) in the "What is Predestination" blog if you are disturbed by my saying God is limited. Apply the word "limited" contextually and poetically.

God allows people to suffer the consequences of making bad decisions in order to allow us to have free will. All bad things throughout history can be traced either directly or indirectly to the decisions of man. Also, nobody complains about Him allowing us to enjoy the consequences of good decisions, yet they're the result of the same intention of God.

suffering in many people helps soften their heart to God. it helps strengthen their faith. It helps to bring them to repentence.but ultimately we suffer because of our free will choice to sin against Gods word and will for our lives.SIN we suffer now, and if unrepented later. So you see we really choose to suffer in many cases.excluding disease and many others out of our control.many sufferings we cause ourselves by living outside of Gods will.

(2).. I don't think that it's so much our sin that causes our sufferings as what we are lacking to be conformed into His Image. Yes sin couses Gods wrath to fall on us, but if God is conforming us to His Image, this process is needed to mold us into His Image.
---Billy on 8/20/06

Tom.. You are right, God allows suffering to help strengthen their faith. I don't think that people understand why it was nesassary for Adam to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and we must experience the same. How else can we know good, except that we experience evil? Although God is GOOD, He nonetheless has a knowledge and understanding of both good AND EVIL. And so we TOO must come to an understanding of both good and evil. Why? Because ALL KNOWLEDGE hinges on their proper understanding.

the bible tells us that suffering perfects your faith,or strenghtens our faith, and gives us patience.

Please define suffering. He allowed Job to suffer because he was testing His Faith in God. He allowed His only Son to suffer for the sins of others. He allowed Joseph to suffer so that "what satan meant for evil, God turned it around for good." There are all different reasons why God allows a person to suffer. We must remember Romans 8:28 - God causes ALL things to work together for good to them that love him, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Quite possibly to manifest true unconditional love for Christ and the feigned judgemental love of Job's comforters. The greed of those who turn their back on the needy and those who have hardened hearts and will not mourn with those who mourn.

We are anointed for spiritual growth, & with growth comes pain. Through the hardships of life we recognize that in all we go through the Father makes a way for us to stand. Through it all He develops within us patience, endurance, & tolerance, giving us opportunity to exercise & demonstrate His faith. Greater is He who is within us then he who is in the world. The current sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us. Ref. Isa.54:16,17 Rom.8:18.

Part 2. The Father allows Satan to use these as tools to kindle or arouse that deceptive intelligence within the minds of His children, to bring up and out of us all that is within us for our examination. It is the error of this mentality which causes us to respond according to our external perceptions. The Spirit of the Father then brings to our attention the fallacy of this response can be acknowledged as error and casted from the mind as a way of thinking that opposes who we are in Christ. Cont..

Part 1. For us to know the depths and heights of ourselves we must be exposed to all that is within us. Therefore the Father has created (dispatched) the falsifier, the worker of falsehoods, the deceiver that adds fuel to the fiery trials of life. It is Satan, the embodiment of that mentality that is in opposition to the divine expression and character of the Father, that permeates the mind of the carnal man who walks in darkness, obscurity and errors of a sensually based mentally. God even allowed His son to suffer. He is allowing us to see our own sin nature. Job is a great book to have some insight. He said "i shall come forth as gold" . There are many reasons. If we didn't suffer and had a perfect world, why would we feel we needed a Savior. Job said too, through his ordeal...i know that my redeemer livith. Also free will has much to do with it.

The Lord allows personal suffering in my life so that I will draw near to Him. I had a shocking time just last week with my mind under very ferocious attack and turmoil --- through it all I kept on telling the Lord that I trusted Him to bring me through it ... He did and I am ok now. Each time it happens my faith gets more solid.
