leej, Nah, I do not waist time to learn about the insignificant. It's sounds like just another sinner.

R we talking about Mel Gibson the actor??
---andy3996 on 9/6/11

Eloy //who is Mel Gibson?

On what planet do you come from not to have heard of Mel Gibson?

Simply make up for your ignorance by googling 'mel gibson' and reference Wikipedia.
---leej on 9/5/11

who is Mel Gibson?
---Eloy on 9/4/11

It is my understanding that Gibson is Roman Catholic but has deep disgreements with Vatican II issues. As a result, he has gone ahead and created his own worship system which he has yet to finish. His problems with wife and family reveal that he has areas of instability in his life that only he and his close confidants can solve. I agree we should leave his alone to solve his own problems.

Why can't we as fellow believers be more tolerant of other peoples beliefs?

---Norma on 5/5/09

It is hard to be tolerant of the agressive denom disciple makers.
I find no denomination...none have all the truth.
There is one that does....we can shorten the line to this one.
By removing our vows/faith in denom/brands. Too the denomination of the one Teacher, One Father.
7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ, and all ye are brethren.

9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

It's very unfortunate that all of Mr. Gibson's problems have been aired in public. He is a brilliant man who has done nothing but screw up since he left his marriage. He once said on TV that his wife kept him grounded. Looks like he was right. Let's all get off his back and hope he can settle his problems without any more incidents.

Addendum: Glenn on 5/6/09.
Please insert in the seventh line > Mary was born with a sin nature, <. It occurred to me that it might not be interpreted by some as intended.
---Glenn on 5/6/09

I too have met several Christians that attended a Roman Catholic Church, as well as evangelical Charismatic Episcopalians. I remember, meeting several Pentecostal Southern Baptists, who if they had stood up in Church to give a tongue, would be shown the door.
If a Christian were to tell the R.C. Bishop that Purgatory originally was a phrase that meant Hell, and that they believed Mary was born in sin, and had needed to receive the Lord Jesus as Savior, or asked if he could stand up and preach in the next mass on the following subjects: Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, Soli Deo Gloria, what would be the response? Eventually, God would say leave Egypt, Hosea 4:17, 2Corinthians 6:14-18.

Galatians 1:8-9:
Christians: Romans 3:28-30, 4:3-5, 5:1, 15, 11:6, Galatians 2:16, 21, 5:4, Ephesians 1:7, 2:4-9, Philippians 3:9, 2Timothy 1:9, Titus 3:5-7.
Roman Catholic, Council of Trent: "If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ's sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified ... let him be accursed," (12). "If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified, or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified, and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected, let him be anathema." (14).

Why can't we as fellow believers be more tolerant of other peoples beliefs? How would you feel if someone ridiculed or put down your religion. I would not be happy if it happened to mine. We do have to be cautious of some and not be drawn down to beliefs that are not ours and are against scripture. I seen the Passion of Christ and cried through the whole thing, thinking about what our Lord went through for the forgiveness of our sins.

Has Mel received the Lord Jesus as Savior, Acts 2:21, Romans 10:9-10? If so, he would not continue to be a Roman Catholic. (Glenn)
The gist of your statement is that no member of the Catholic church is saved. That is just as bad as the view that no salvation is found outside the Catholic church.

I met several Catholics that are definitely saved. I sat in small group Bible studies with them and did not even know they were Catholic for weeks until they told me. My Catholic boss carrys a massive King James Bible to work every day reads for a hour during lunch. He is an evangilical witness, and listens to the Bible Answer Man on his radio!
---obewan on 5/5/09

It is a strange and sick relationship between the press and actors, politicians, televangelists, etc. Has Mel received the Lord Jesus as Savior, Acts 2:21, Romans 10:9-10? If so, he would not continue to be a Roman Catholic. Neither a movie based on a mystic nun's vision, and full of Roman Catholic dogma, nor his actions point to his being a Christian.
Acts 4:12, Ephesians 1:13, 2:8-9, 1Timothy 2:4-5, 1John 1:9-10.

Remember "Not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven "(Mt 7:23)
---Ruben on 5/4/09

I believe in praying for all professing Christians. I also believe that there are Catholics out there that are believers, but they are in the minority. We should be praying for them and witnessing to them, not bashing them.
---Melanie on 5/4/09

What do you mean that if Mel received Christ as his Lord and Savior then he couldn't be a Roman Catholic anymore? I've never understood why people don't believe Catholics are Christians.
---Laura on 5/4/09

Helen, salvation is of the Jew (Jn 4:22), sister you've got a big problem and it better get fixed between now and your day of reckoning.
As to Mel Gibson's drunken and sexual dalliances. Its nothing new since David and Bathsheba, and nothing you haven't heard from our brothers at a Promise Keepers retreat.
The only difference is that we make excuses for believers and condemn non-believers (Clinton) for the same sins.
The media is cruel to everyone left or right. Paris Hilton apologized for her DUI and she's been ridiculed far more than Mel and remains a national Pinata.
Jim Bakker was hounded off the scene but so was former presidential candidate John Edwards.

Yes the media is cruel and wouldn't have been so mean had not Mel produced and directed "Passion of the Christ".
Still his drunken tirade and derision of Jews is no small social stumble.
Mel has been pilloried but this happens to athletes every day for a lot less, ask Bill Buckner?
Tom Cruise is way liberal and I don't think the media has been easy on him for being a couch hoping wacko cult member. His movie career has suffered for being a couch hoping wacko cult member.
Quit whining about the redicule of believers. What did you really think Jesus meant by fellowship of sufferings?
There's no biblical virtue in being conservative or liberal so who cares if Mel is ridiculed for his political views.
---larry on 5/4/09

Has Mel received the Lord Jesus as Savior, Acts 2:21, Romans 10:9-10? If so, he would not continue to be a Roman Catholic. (Glenn)
You seriously think that you are God and have the right to declare that there are no saved people in the Roman Catholic church? That is the jist of your comment. I will pray that God will lead you to meet some saved Catholics. I used to think like you until I sat in small group Bible studies with some saved Catholics. Granted, they were apologetic about the fact that they have not studied the Bible for the past 2000 years (LOL), but they were for sure "saved" and they were good students.
---obewan on 5/4/09

***If so, he would not continue to be a Roman Catholic.Glenn***

And not just an RCC, but a strange sect of the RCC, that even the RCC do not recognize. He has his own PERSONAL Church on his property...totally AGAINT the RCC. He is so anti-semitic, another CLEAR indication he is NOT saved.

And it seems ALL his movies are violent to the core. hummm!

If we lived in the 1950's no such violent movie would be allowed. Interesting God had to wait until man became so decrepit that anything goes in Hollywood and on your TV to bring this movie to you Really??? HELLO!!!!

As a Christian, we should be lifting each other up not judging and condemning! Repent and believe. Love one another.
---Lisa on 8/2/07

"all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God." Mel Gibson is a man, often put on a pedistal by the media. When he falls of there unrealistic pedistal they publicly humiliate him..he needs our support and prayers. God has his hand on Mel and the enemy is scared.
---Phyllis_Pisano on 8/1/07

Mel Gibson is human and we all make mistakes. When you are raised by someone it doesnt make you what they are but, when you are not yourself they ideas could slip out even if you don't agree to them. Mel is right, that reporter was just trying to make trouble and needs to drop it. The movie was about a certain country with those people in it. It was not a racial movie and the racial person should rethink his own racial prejudice. I accept Mel's apology. We all sinned.
---Linda on 1/18/07

It would make sense that the media are on Mel's case, most of the people in postitions of power in the media are Jewish.

I have no intention of abandoning a fellow human being who is being demonized by the despicable popular media.
Mel is just a man.
Men make mistakes.

If anything the popular media should be demonized for the tactics they employ in order to "dig up dirt" on people like Mel.

God bless Mel.

I agree. God is using Mel Gibson, just like any other born again Christian, to preach the gospel. Mel is being refined, just like you said.
---Ro on 8/14/06

Maybe the Lord allowed this to happy to Mel because he has had a drinking problem for years and never dealt with it. Now he is forced to deal with it. The Lord loves him and we should be praying for him for healing and deliverance.
---Gena8493 on 8/5/06

This reminds me of a joke, (not what Mel done was a joke) but...laugh and the world laughs with you, fart and you stand alone. This is exactly how it is, when things are going good for Mel Gibson, everyone is patting him on the back, now since he has made one mistake, everyone is kicking him down. He isn't God, he is going to make mistakes, the question is what did he learn from his mistakes? I say leave the man alone, what does he have to prove to us?
---Rebecca_D on 8/4/06

As I have asked on a similar blog, would there be as much fuss if he had said, "The Methodists are responsible for all wars!" or had asked his arresting officer, "Are you a Presbyterian?"

Question: why is it considered worse to make anti-semitic statments than anti-Methodist or anti-Presbyterian statements?

Sally, yes of course, but they won't. Why? Because they are carnally minded. They can't look beyond his outward actions and see he has a problem on the inside. Mel, what were you thinking driving drunk? That alone is a crime, but he will suffer the consequences of it, the media is pressing the issue because they don't have news on Tom and Katie's baby, or Nicole's wedding, etc.,
---Donna9759 on 8/3/06

If he had not made 'The Passion' nothing would have been thought of his arrest. The media thinks he's a Christian and delves to make him look bad. No big deal is made of other 'celebrities' going to rehab. I think Drew Barrymore went the first time when she was 12 years old! I'm tired of hearing about it!
---NV_Barbara on 8/3/06

The news media seems more concerned about the police not handling Mel's arrest according to the procedures they were supposed to follow, than Mel himself.

Yes, the news media should get off Mel Gibson's back. More importantly, so should we. We need to pray and pray for the guy that he gets saved and gets set free from his bondage.
---Helen_5378 on 8/3/06

They should but they wont. He is a celebrity. I think it was a moment of great weakness for Mel. But God knows the sincerity of his repentance. I also hope the Jewish and Christian groups forgive him and stop dragging this any further.
---pkay on 8/3/06

The news media does what it does; we have no control and influence over their actions. But as Christians we can make the choice to love Mel as Jesus first loved us.
---Benny on 8/3/06

The media, newspapers in particular, keep stories going for as long as they can make money out of it. Being a famous person, Mel Gibson will be very aware of this. Anyone who is regularly in the public eye will know that their faults and failings will make the news just as much as their successes and good deeds. I doubt if Mel Gibson is at all surprised at the furore but his apology should be accepted all the same.

I bet his fan club has trippled since the news aired his being caught doing whatever. Just look at how much "air" time he has gotten here... With his money, how do you reckon he managed to get caught in all those photos if he didn't want to? hmmmmmm.
