Council On American Islamic

On 08/10/06, Bush called a foiled plot to blow up airplanes part of a "war with Islamic fascists" CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) retorted, "We believe this is [a bad] term... counter-productive to [mix] Islam, Muslims with fascism." Who is right?

In previous post 'are most muslms terrorists' should read *are most terrorists muslim*
---Khadijah on 3/12/07

The problem with the term is
a)that it implies that terrorism or fascism is islamic

Like saying that Combat 18 or KKK are part of Christianity. Even though they may claim to be Christian, I have more sense to believe they are. I hope people would show the same sense about Islam.
Are most muslim terroists? Maybe you simply don't hear about the others. How about the Tamil tigers, Real IRA (still active), ETA, Columbian rebels, animal rights extremists, abortion clinic bombers..
---Khadijah on 3/12/07

Shira, as distasteful as it is about the KKK they did (consider themselves) Christians. But if you look around there are many people with very distorted views of Christianity and are as wrong as they can be, but they still will call themselves Christians. I am not saying it is right thinking, but it is a fact, like it or not.

Jack, I knew about kkk growing up and knew some that were rumored to belong, but they were never associated with church or christianity.
---shira on 8/13/06

I heard someone say on TV, "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims"

Is THAT an accurate assessment?

Does that square with what CAIR stated?
---John_T on 8/12/06

** Jack, In what do you associate kkk with christians? I can't believe I am reading this. God's born again christian has nothing to do with kkk.**

Apparently, you are not familiar with the history of the KKK, or its attitude towards itself.

It believed itself to be a patriotic Christian organization, protecting American Christian civilization.

Jack, In what do you associate kkk with christians? I can't believe I am reading this. God's born again christian has nothing to do with kkk. Also, I have part of the Quran and ilams are commanded to kill christians. We are at war with islam and I pray Bush will stand firm. islam, muslims and facist are one.

I believe that Bush meant the same thing as CAIR did.
It is counter productive to mix Islam with Fascists.
Now ask yourself were they Islamic and were they Fascist?
Bush nor America made them either. This is what they chose to be.
I also think it is counter productive to blow perfectly good aircraft full of women, children and non military men out of the sky just to kill people.
Is it productive to kill babies because they are American or Jews?
Answer: To someone it is. Who are they?

President Bush is correct. And todate his actions against the Islamic people has not been hard Enough. If you have read and believe the Bible you will accept the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have read and believe the Koran you will believe in murder, terror and any other method to destroy all people who are not Moslems. That's the way it is, that is a fact. Christians are God's people Moslems are satan's people.
---mima on 8/11/06

I understand what Bush meant. By "Islamic Fascists" he meant those Muslims who use their religion as an excuse to commit terror, violence, and murder.

This is nowhere near all Muslims any more than the KKK was/is all Christians.
