The Holy Spirit is the heart of God. His very spirit, the very essence of God. That is what I believe, but I am sure there will be those who say I am wrong, but since you asked, that is my opinion.

the holy spirit ---one of the cocreators(let us make man)."thou sendeth fourth thy spirit, they are created"although we say we made children ,in truth the holy spirit gives the spark that is that gives life when we only pass genetics.where as jesus is the universe ministry to us all, the holy spirit acts upon whatever the Fathers will is simultaneous with the thought.i recognize the holy spirit as having true form and shape but this is but a very limited and small description.there is much more

Moderator: I am a little distraught at the title you chose for this topic. "WHAT"? "What is the Holy Spirit"? The Holy Spirit is not a thing He is not a what He is a who. THe proper title is "WHO is the Holy Spirit" If this conflicts with and already existing title than the wording should be changed. The comforter should nere be refered to as a "WHAT"

Moderator - That needs to be told to the blogger.

He is God. Also called the spirit of God, the spirit of the Lord, and the spirit of Christ; the breath of God, the breath of the Lord, and the breath of Christ. Sometimes he is called Siloah, meaning "Sent". The Holy Spirit is called by the personal pronoun "He"(Isaiah 40:13; John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7,8,13-15). Please read Genesis 1:2; 2:7; Matthew 1:18; John 20:22,23.

God in us. God in the dispensation of comforter. Jesus said He would not leave us comfortless, He would come to us (Jo.14:18).

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Godhead. He is fully God. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, has a will, and can speak. He is alive. He is a person. He is not particularly visible in the Bible because His ministry is to bear witness of Jesus (John 15:26). As God, the Holy Spirit can truly function as the Comforter and Counselor that Jesus promised He would be (John 14:16,26; 15:26).

I am in total agreement with Dottie

I agree with TOM2. The bible reveals to us in scripture Who He, the Holy Spirit, is. The Holy Spirit isn't an "it", but He is a real being. He has emotions & feelings.(Ephesians 4:30)

The Holy Spirit is part of the God head. It is the part that lives in a born again person. It is the part that convicts us of sin. It is the part that makes a preacher preach, a singer sing and a sinner saved. It is our comforter.
