More Important - does the Bible say to pray to Mary? Maybe we should pray that they get saved and read the truth in the Word of God.
---Yolanda on 3/15/07

Only pray to God.

Joe: "augusta: The choclate IS being prayed to, according to the Daily Herald article."
I'd say the author who wrote this was taking some liberties here, Joe. You did catch the "chocolaty idol" part didn't you? ;)
I can't believe the things that makes the news these days. If it isn't stuff like this it's Hollywood starlets having affairs etc, etc.

augusta: The choclate IS being prayed to, according to the Daily Herald article.
"Jacinto has been among the throng who have visited and prayed to the chocolaty idol since the shrine was set up near the gourmet chocolate shop's front door on Wednesday."
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

Madison 1101 - Good one. Enjoy!! Want some toast too? LOL.

To each is his own salvation.

I just now found on the web a picture of the so-called "chocolate mary". Although it is small, it really does look very much like an eagle to me. But then people will see what they want to see.
---Helen_5378 on 8/19/06

To pray to it is such a waste of good chocolate.
---Madison1101 (Vote) on 8/18/06
Madison, I just went and read the article and it just said they were praying; not that they were praying to the chocolate.
Just wanted to clear that part up before someone has them building a Valentine heart shaped shrine or something.

NVBarb: Many people use chocolate to fill that void left by God. In the end the chocolate does not satisfy, just as this Mary chocolate will not satisfy. My thoughts on the Mary chocolate is this. Mix in some peanuts and send it to me. To pray to it is such a waste of good chocolate.
---Madison1101 on 8/18/06

Lets not forget that sometimes protestants do things just as goofy as Catholics. Some televangelist' sell 'prayer rags' that have been blessed. Weight lifters busting bricks on their head to raise money for Jesus. A preacher claimed the devil would kill him if you did not send him $. Benny Hinns wife said people needed, well(trying to be tasteful) a certain proctological 'procedure.' (the video is all over the net)Those things I find very untasteful, as apposed to the Chocolate Mary.

I saw this story on the news today, it just looked like a blob of chocolate to me-- with flowers and candles around it! We have a God shaped vacuum in us and only HE will fit. Not statues, nor chocolate! I can't believe that people can be so deceived, and just plain rediculous.
---NV_Barbara on 8/18/06

Hot chocolate -- to go with the toast. :-)
---Helen_5378 on 8/18/06

Yeah - Chocolate demons.

**Mary does not answer prayers any better that I do. **

Many people will disagree with the first part, though agreeing with the second.

It that a joke? I know what I would do to that Chocolate Virgin Mary, and it aint pretty. Yum

That is the most absurd thing I ever heard. If chocolate mary isn't guarded, someone may take a bite out of her.
---shira on 8/18/06

At first, I thought you were joking, but I looked it up on the New York Times, and it is true. It is also ridiculous. It is kind of like those inkblots the psychiatrists use to understand you better. You can see anything you want in a blob of chocolate. They should melt the chocolate down and make it into a candy bar and eat it. What next? A Mary sighting in the mold in my fridge?
---Madison1101 on 8/18/06

You can pray to me and get the same results. Mary does not answer prayers any better that I do. The bible teaches we are to pray directly to God. Our prayers goes to God through Jesus Christ.
---Rev_Herb on 8/18/06

I,ve seen nothing in the news.
Bodega appear to be manufacturers of fine chocolate. Has a mishape chocolate turned up which they say bears a resemblance to Mary? This sort of thing happens all the time. Who is to say what Mary looked like ... medieval paintings are no doubt highly inaccurate.
This is not miraculous, and Mary should not be prayed to anyway. She was blessed by being chosen to be Jesus earthly mother, but that's it.
