No, not really.

did you know that there is actually space between the molecules of everything, empty in the world because of distances between , and the hostile enviroment sway someone to discard intelligent design?God put us on this planet with an atmosphere that was compatable with our flesh.gave us water, and an abundant almost uncountable varied plants and other animals.and your worried about empty ,in hospitable space.

I don't see the objection to Intelligent Design. David made me think about this! But if he challenges Intelligent design becasue he can't see the purpose of the emptiness of Outer Space, surely he would have to say God could not be the Creator? Is God not the greatest Intelligence?
So surely God the Creator is the perfect and only Intelligent Designer?

Of course I didn't mean that the oceans or deserts had no life, what I was refering to was, especially in context of the occeans & outer space, the vast amounts of empty, open space -- perhaps there are even microbes in the ocean waters (above the floor but below the surface), but this is not true of open outer space. What can be the purpose of this space?

The question is are they going to teach science in science classes. If they are, then they need to teach evolution by natural selection.

Some schools do, and should allow the teaching of the Bible at least as history. In such a class they should also teach ID and whatever creationism they want.

No, since I believe in the Bible.
I believe this term came into popular usage after Christians (mainly) objected to the teaching of Evolution only, in schools. "Creationism" was suggested as an alternative teaching.
But the term had strog Christian overtones, to which many objected.. "Intelligent Design" implies nothing about the nature of God, only the fact things came into being by intent, according to a plan.

david, keep up with current events friend. at the bottom of the pacific ocean where SCIENTIST thought there was no life because of temperatures and pressures they have discovered a varied eco system with all sorts of life, and the dessert is chalf full of critters.if not larger life at least microbes.

greetings,is the fact that God has placed in man his indwelling spirit,a part of himself so that man may if he so desires to transform his life from purely human to a complete, spiritual ,living personality i think is a full representation of of intelligent design.

tom2, have you ever been in the ocean? it is indeed much like a desert, or outer space -- vast reaches of nothing, no life, no fixtures, no light, nothing, certainly not a friendly environment. What is the explanation for this open but very hostile environment under ID?
---david on 8/24/06

ID is a new form of the old cosmological argument argument for God. It is promoted by Dr. Behe and others. Its much like Hume's 'watch on the beach found on an empty island.' I prefer the ontological argument, as design arguments in history have always been in 'retreat.'
---MikeM on 8/24/06

"Intelligent design" (in which I believe) is a philosophy that says that some being with super intelligence guided the unfolding of the cosmos.
One need not be a Christian to believe in ID, merely a theist of some sort, though I suppose it would be possible to believe in a deity that had nothing to do with the physical universe. (But why believe that?)
By its nature, it's not science, but only a way of interpreting certain facts that science cannot account for..

I believe Intelligent Design is a theory which allows us to believe that God created everything, but also that there is more to the Creation Story than is revealed to us in Genesis.
Or something along those lines
Correct me please if I am wrong in that understanding.

just as any compliocated machine oh say like your computer. thought went into its design, all the different things needed for it to operate as it does.same with the universe.intelligent design states that too many things work in perfect harmony for the universe to have happened by accident ,or a big bang.
---tom2 on 8/23/06

John, where is that in scripture? I can't find it. lol
