#1 Being saved means you have been born again, born of God. The Seed of Christ has been born in your heart thru the power of the Holy Ghost and your faith which God the Father has given you. You are a child of God and He has provided you, at that very moment, a wealth of provision. You are joint heirs with Christ. He has seated you in the heavenlies with Christ. When first born again you are a babe in Christ.

Linda, It may be best to let the Lord have the last say:
Paul Said:
Galatians 6:14
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
1 Corinthians 4:15
For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
---kathr4453 on 9/19/06

K4453: I'm ending my involvement in this discussion by saying that you defend your belief with very strong feeling & opinion, which is your privilege; I'm glad you know the Lord personally & tell the Gospel whenever you can as I do also. We're obviously not finding a mutual point of agreement beyond a person's need to know Jesus as Saviour. We're not to get into futile discussions, but can agree to disagree. May your life continue to produce the fruit that Jesus promises to those who remain in the vine.
---Linda on 9/18/06

tom2: Was that a condition to sharing the Gospel. You are right, one must pull the beam out the eye to even see the cross. Thank You for that input. It was most helpful. Now if we had a way of pulling those New Age crystals out of peoples ears, and the others who are trying to smoke um, we just may be able to present a Clear Cut Gospel. Ain't it great!
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

Linda, When I respond to a blog, I write for the benefit of someone else. We don't know who may be reading these blogs, and so few blogs here have an opportunity to witness. Paul said, " I am not ashamed of the Gospel", neither am I. To be made to feel ashamed to tell the truth of Calvary is really odd, from those who profess to be saved.

I so remember the day I got saved, as if it were yesterday. And it's always been the Praise of my heart. *Psalms 116* and especially verse 14&15.
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

Linda, So if one truly loves someone they tell the TRUTH about how the cross, with it's painful application, is the only way to a New Life In Christ. To mislead anyone away from the Cross, or present another jesus...well, that is not the Gospel, It's the devil!
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

Linda, With the question, yes we are all reading it differently. Maybe I took the literal approach.
As far as compassion, I was referring to after I got saved, not b/4. I'm saying, as I have seen so many times, pitty parties go nowhere, but keep the old adam nature alive. Jesus came to Crucify it. I'm glad He allowed that process to take place in my life, and kept me far far far from the duped emotional healings some teach, that only patch up the old nature, not crucify it.
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

Linda. Now I know you have completely misunderstood my input. Our conversation only cane about AFTER I questioned Debbie about presenting correct doctrine abouth the Cross, and her misguided understanding about the seed RE Mormon teaching. Then you jump in, not getting what was said, now tom2 has jumped in with his 2 cents. I guess to all of you, any ol jesus will do, as long as his name is jesus. Mormons have a Jesus, Satan's brother. Sorry, he can't save anyone. THAT WAS MY POINT. next
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

K4453: I agree that compassion without accountability serves no purpose in helping someone to move on in accepting the One Who can meet the need for salvation/New Life & personal spiritual growth. My point is this: that you and I have read these questions differently & answered them accordingly. I'm sorry no one showed you the compassion of Christ on a personal level while you were seeking Him & I am very glad for you that you found Jesus to be your all in all. Our opinions both have merit.
---Linda on 9/18/06

I posted earler to this but I have been meditating on the word and I must say that the change that few christians aloow and of which I,am just as guilty as the next is given in scripture by jesus. First take the log out of your own eye, then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.If we would first consider what needs to change in us first before we try to correct our brothers and sisters many issues would never come to light.

Linda #2
So you may think me to be cold and unloving. The difference is ,the love now is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, a completely different kind of LOVE. That love tells the truth, explains the Cross, and Loves a person soooooo much, that they tell those who , in like situations about the Love of GOD, who sent His Son, to set us FREE via Calvary. It's worked for me, as I minister to those, Telling then of the "POWER OF THE CROSS".
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

Linda: I am that person you describe. Thank God, with the lack of "any christian compassion", I learned the compassion and love of God. A mistake God made? Absolutely not. Sometimes christian compassion as you are referring to, only keeps the old nature alive, wanting more and more of those to pitty us. Pitty does not crucify the old nature. It's painful, but those who are exercised by it, become free to live a New Life in Christ.

However: That's not what this blog was asking.
---kathr4453 on 9/18/06

K4453: Regard "warm fuzzies". People today don't have enough of them! People with needs emotionally etc. are those who have been abused, rejected, lonely. Maybe you don't know anyone like that. But, Truth without compassion is unloving. People have to know you care before they will listen to what you have to share. Meet them on their level. Jesus Christ was our greatest example. He did this with a personality and words that met them where their need was.
---Linda on 9/17/06

K4453: Well, there's more than one way to read the ??. My thought: When they asked, How does your life change? It means sharing personally. To want to know "what does it mean..." the benefits of being a Christian can be asked by either saved or unsaved. Can be Scriptural or experiencial. I'm sorry you think your experience wouldn't benefit another. Jesus took on humanity to show us how God in human flesh suffered, yet did not sin. He experienced what we do today & showed us to live in Him.
---Linda on 9/17/06

Debbie: If I may borrow the words of Rev. Herb:** what makes your judgement right and mine not right? The devil has counterfited everything that God does**.

Debbie, MY concern is for those who read this blog and are not saved. There are many counterfit Gospels, and if you are not offended by the "Cross", then by all means, defend IT, not yourself. I didn't see any retraction re:seed! That really bothers me.
---kathr4453 on 9/17/06

Kathr4453, I don't think this discussion of my relationship with the Lord is of God. You are going to believe what you believe no matter what I say, so therefore, May God bless you in all your studies, may He open the Word up to you and you get a full revelation of the Word. God bless you!!

Linda: The questions are:
What does it mean to be saved as a Christian and how does your life change.

I don't see the question asking for personal experiences. I see it as someone who is not saved wanting to know how to become saved.

If this person is saved, why would they ask this question. If their not saved, My personal experience won't do anyone a bit of good.

The Gospel is the Power of God unto Salvation, not a bunch of warm fuzzies.

Southern Baptist Jimmy Carter has denounced leaders of his denomination for declaring that professing members of The Church of LDS are non-Christians.

Carter told reporters, Too many leaders now, in the Southern Baptist Convention and other conventions, are trying to act as Pharisees, who were condemned by Christ, trying to define who can and who cannot be considered an acceptable person in the eyes of God. In other words, they're making judgments on behalf of God. I think thats wrong.

Daily life can be a struggle with choice to yield to God or doing my way. But God is always calling me to yield to Him, to make good choices. He never leaves me like the "helpers" of this world. This gives me great Hope! I've needed the hope the Lord gave me many times in my marriage because I had no hope; looking at my circumstances & the choices available to me there. Find one who'll tell you of reality of Christ in their life & help you trust Christ to change your life by His presence in it!

Debbie: Compare:

The problem is NO WHERE are they told how to be saved that give instructions that fit with the "resurrection" salvation. LDS say we are "saved by grace."
"But behold,as the seed swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, will say I know that this is a good seed; for behold it sprouteth and beginneth to grow.

Debbie:You said**#1 Being saved means you have been born again, born of God. The Seed of Christ has been born in your heart thru the power of the Holy Ghost and your faith which God the Father has given you*.
Debbie. The seed? Jesus is the seed. That seed grew(Jesus)and became flesh and dwelt among us. He,became fully God/fully man, went to the cross, taking our sin upon Him. We don't receive the seed, but the Lord Himself, who rose from the dead. When we take our place with Him at Calvary. Romans 6
---kathr4453 on 9/16/06

I've been in Christ for 33 yrs. Being saved to me is having true choice with the life I live. When I was in sin, I could only choose what I thought was best of the choices this "worldly system" had to offer. Some were pleasurable many were not. I have lived with the consequences of those choices. But, in Christ, I now choose from God's wisdom. Life Changes: This wisdom is 1st pure and peaceable. It blesses me because it pleases God, gives my life true meaning & blesses those around me.
---Linda on 9/16/06

To me, some of you would rather get embroiled in your own discussions of each other rather than helpful to the questioner. Giving only scripture references doesn't explain fully what personal result God's Word & salvation means to you in experience. The questioner probably has had God's Word given them many times in response to their questions. They want discussion that's relevant to them personally now in their lives. Ask yourself these questions from your personal daily living it out & then answer them.

Debbie: There is no process of being Born Again. I don't understand what process is. jhonny uses that term, and says if we aren't finished processing, then we are not processed. Born again is instant. The moment we are risen with Him. That is not a process. Jesus resurrection was not and is not a process. It was, just like that. It's called The "Day" of Jesus Christ. The Day He rose from the dead..the firstborn of all creation. His New Creation. *****Colossians 1:15-19*****
---kathr4453 on 9/16/06

Kathr4453, You don't seem to believe that I have the personal knowledge of the saving grace that was given to me at the Cross of Christ. I am saved by grace, it is a gift of God. I know who I am in Christ. Do you? I have moved into a deeper relationship with Him thru His Word. I have grown in Christ, He lives and breathes in me. I have reckoned my old man crucified with Him and am alive in the New Creation which is Christ in me, my hope of glory. Do not under-estimate who I am in Christ, He doesn't.

Baylor has been a hotbed of liberalism within the Southern Baptist Convention.Bob E.Patterson, who began teaching at Baylor in 1961, held to theistic evolution. Baylor professor Curtis Wallace Christian, in his book Shaping Your Faith, supported Darwinian evolution. Baylors past president, Herbert Reynolds, defended Patterson, Christian, and other liberals who denied the inerrancy of the Bible. The Baylor staff has even included a Mormon, Dr. Phillip Johnson, who joined the faculty in 1977!

Both Testaments tell us that, Whosoever will Call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved: Joel 2:32; Zechariah 13:9; Romans 10:9-13. And by asking him into our lives, God will send the Spirit of Christ into our hearts, crying Papa, Father: Galatians 4:6.

"His life for yours". It takes all of your entire life and being, nothing less is acceptable. In genuine personal prayer you surrender your life to Christ, confessing and forsaking your sins, then ask him to Save you from sin and to come into your heart and into your life to take over. When you become born-again, you receive his nature in exchange for yours, he takes out the dead stony heart and gives you a live new heart, one in which he lives. Now you live for him, instead of living for you.
---Eloy on 9/16/06

Being born-again is being born of God. It is Christ living in you. Please read John 1:12,13; II Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:9-11,15; Galatians 4:6; Psalm 51:10; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:27; I John 3:9,10; Revelation 3:20.
---Eloy on 9/16/06

The passage I John 3:6-10 is self-explanatory. When you are born-again you are like Christ and you do not sin, but when you are not born-again you are unregenerate. Either Christ or sin inhabits the temple, but not both, and it is not possible to live in Christ and live in sin too. The tree is known by the fruit that it bears: whether a good tree, which can bear only good fruit, or a bad tree, which bears bad fruit.

It is called Blessed Assurance. We know that we are saved because, 1- we have repented and are saved from sin, and are converted into the righteousness of Christ, and we keep his commandments. (Matthew 7:17-20; II Corinthians 5:17; I John 3:6-24). 2- Jesus himself promises us. (John 10:3-5; 14:2-4). 3- We have the mark of God, and are persecuted by the lost. (Ezekiel 9:4-6; Matthew 5:10-12; John 15:18-21).

Being saved is to be delivered forever from paying with our life because we are sinners from birth. God is holy--no sin in His presence. God loves us & sent Jesus, placing our sin upon Him Who became the "payment" in full for our sin. Accepting Christ as Saviour, we're considered "debt free" by God. All Jesus' righteousness is ours & we can freely enter God's presence. Life changes. God's imput is now into it thru the Holy Spirit. You'll have new desires & thoughts born of God in you.

jojo, let put it as simply as possible,If you step out in front of a tracto trailer ,and someone grabs you and pulls you to safety they have uindoubtly saved your life.jesus came to earth to do a similiar thing except it has nothing to do with your body,he came to save your eternal spirit.he personally offers to do this to every human who will accept him.the change can be graduall or not but if you truly are saved there will be a change.

Debbie,#3+ You fail to mention we were also crucified with Christ on that cross. Romans 6 and Galatians 2:20 Colossians Ch 2.
That IS how our life changes...drastically changes.
Colossians says WE ARE DEAD, and our life is hid with God in Christ Jesus. This IS important to walk in the light of these truths.
---kathy4453 on 9/15/06

Debbie #2Yes, Mormon's do also believe the way you have even in the past suggested we are overshaddowed by the Holy Spirit. We are NOT overshaddowed by the Holy Spirit. We are resurrected with Christ through the Power of the Holy Spirit.Romans 8:11-13 Hebrews 13:20&21

Debbie: If one does not have a firm understanding of where they started, then they are off base the rest of their walk. We begin our new life at Calvary, and grow from there. Without that understanding, that we are completely forgiven of our sins, it, as one can see Re: Mrs. Morgan, have a very very difficult time in their growing process. I do hope all of you understand the importance of what it really means to be saved.

#3 He has also ascended on high and sits at the right hand of our Father evermaking intercession for us. Is there anything I missed?
---Debbie on 9/15/06

#2 In my post, that was all understood. I was talking about the process of being born again, not what we believe by faith. The process of being born again is accomplished thru the Holy Spirit after we have confessed with our mouth and believed in our heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins, shed His blood for our atonement, was 3 days in the lower depths of the earth in upper Sheol, and then rose on the 3rd day all by the power of God.
---Debbie on 9/15/06

#1 Kathr4453, there you go again calling me a Mormon. I am not a Mormon. In fact, I know what the Mormon's believe and I could take it as an insult. How can anyone who loves the Lord Jesus talk about salvation and not automatically include the Cross and His precious blood. A believer has to have accepted the work Christ did on the Cross on our behalf. They have to understand the importance of His shed blood.
---Debbie on 9/15/06

Thus: Through the Cross alone is salvation,Through Jesus Christ, who took our sin.
Resurrection life is just that, you have to die first to be resurrected. We have been resurrected with Jesus Christ, a New Creation.
Galatians 2:20&21

13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
---kathr4453 on 9/15/06

The problem I have with Debbie's description of salvation is that it by-passes the cross altogether. As you see, it is never mentioned. Salvation apart from the cross, is not salvation, but a cult. The mormons also believe in this kind of salvation. Being overshaddowed by the Holy Spirit. next
---kathr4453 on 9/15/06

To know the truth, accept the truth. Jesus is Truth. Saving us is giving us Truth. (Incite, we were headed for hell) We must see and believe He is Truth - come to us for a reason. If He says He is Truth, then what dose that mean to us? We must have something untruthful. When we accept Truth, we accept Him - so believing Truth - we repent. He gives us new life. New life is Salvation in Him.
---Linda3939 on 9/15/06

To be "saved" means you first have to understand that the deserved punishment for our sins is death and an eternal hell, but Jesus chose to shed his blood so we could escape our due punishment. That is the meaning of the word "saved"; Jesus rescues us and purifies us. When I was saved, it was the happiest time of my life. God now works daily to shape me into the child He wants. Being saved means I want to be molded and perfected by God.

Debbie explains how your life changes.
---Donna9759 on 9/15/06

#2 At that very instant we become Eternal beings "IN CHRIST". We have Eternal Life "In Him".
Our life begins to Grow "In Christ", by faith. We live by faith, as well as are saved by faith. We are sanctified by faith, "IN HIM". All life flows from Him. He is our very life, and nothing can end that life. Colossians 3:1-4.
---kathr4453 on 9/15/06

What it means to be saved is receiving Jesus Christ into your heart, taking your place with Him at the cross, buried with Him, and raised a new creation. This is not a process. It's a divine act of God. It's what the New Covenant promised. The Spirit, also raising you up together with Him.
Romans 8:11-13 and Hebrews 13:20&21
How does your life Change? It changes into a New Creature. Old things pass away, all things become NEW. It's the very Life of Christ in you, Gal 2:20&21, and Col 1:27.

#2 Many different experiences come with the new birth, to some, it may be dramatic and to others, it may not be so dramatic. Your life changes whether you feel the change or not. You have gone from an earthly creature to a heavenly creature. You have been transformed from a sinful corrupt being to a sinless incorruptible heavenly creature. You have been made a resident of the kingdom of His dear Son.
