Shira, Im still waiting to hear about the $400 cell phone..

---NurseRobert on 12/3/13

Are you that stupid? Most welfare recipients have at least one iphone or other smart phone in their home. Those can easily cost $400.

In 2005 a government survey showed that the typical family considered to be in poverty by federal standards had air conditioned homes that were not overcrowded, had two color televisions, cable or satellite TV, computer, high speed internet, both a DVD player and VCR, two video game systems such as an Xbox & Plastation, Microwave, cellphones, Clothes washer & dryer, and 2 cars!

That's way more than I had most of my life and I was totally fine without welfare!
---Jed on 12/3/13

\\cluny, don't be a smarty. you know as well as I do what I am talking abou\\

No, shira, I don't know what you're talking about. Do you?

Are you saying you actually know people on welfare with $400 smart phones?

My own cell phone, btw, is a Cricket, which cost $35.00 and costs me less than $25 a mo.

I say nice things about you. I've thanked you for your generous offers elsewhere.

**Less than 10% actually suffered from an illness that would prevent them from working.**

Source, Jed.

++She drew... $4,000.00 tax free cash from another place.++

Such fraud is exceptional. I myself wear scrubs, mostly.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/3/13

"Show me where the bible is anti universal health care.

You have no problem giving subsidies to billionaire farm companies,"

If there wasn't subsidies to farms who would give/raise the food to give to those on food stamps?

I can show where the Bible says if a person doesn't work he doesn't eat.

How about you show me where you and your left liberal co-host use their own money to help anyone.
---Elder on 12/3/13

\\Wow Cluny, you were able to find one sap story out of the millions of undeserving welfare recipients w...\\

Jed, have you offered your services to help decide who is worthy of welfare and who is not?

I myself am on disability, so I know how the system works (and those on it) better than you do. The man I mentioned previously and I do our best to play by the rules. Result: our food stamps were cut by 30%.

How do you happen to know so many people who defraud these programs? A man is known by the company he keeps.

BTW, Jed, in the Southwest, you can't live without air conditioning, and I have bad asthma, among other illnesses.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/3/13

Robert, I don't care who started the program, I think American people are held hostage by the government. some of the programs just make people lazy. I don't care what you say about exaggeration, I stand behind what I said. you know what Im saying is true.
---shira4368 on 12/3/13

Shira, so you "exaggerated" to make your point? I don't consider calling an outright falsehood to be nitpicking.

The program you hate so much was started by a rightwinger president.
---NurseRobert on 12/3/13

Robert, why don't you stand on the street corner and ask everyone what their cell phones cost. I have no clue what others cells cost. you should be smart enough to know I was making a point, yet you nikpick for the dumbest things. did you know the gov hires people to offer cell phones. yes, they are on the streets trying to give cell phones away for "free".
---shira4368 on 12/3/13

Hogwash, Jed, you so-call "compassionate" conservatives are anything but.

Show me where the bible is anti universal health care. Or pro-war? You have no problem giving subsidies to billionaire farm companies, but takes away food stamps from children. They have no problem giving tax cuts to the rich, all the while cutting housing and food subsidies to the poor.

And when are you going to answer the question?

Shira, Im still waiting to hear about the $400 cell phone..
---NurseRobert on 12/3/13

seg, do you own a home, vehicle, money in the bank? just curious. If you do, go sell it all and give to someone too lazy to work.
---shira4368 on 12/3/13

Wow Cluny, you were able to find one sap story out of the millions of undeserving welfare recipients who have brand new smart phones, big screen TVs, video game systems, computers, Ipads, and live in air conditioned homes and dont work a lick because of some bogus illness which does not prevent them from working. I worked for years as a case manager who went into the homes of dissability and welfare recipients. Most of them had nicer homes and newer gadgets than me. And more than 90% of them were younger and more capable of working than me. Less than 10% actually suffered from an illness that would prevent them from working. My opinions are formed from actual experiences with thousands of welfare recipients. But you know one guy? Good job.
---Jed on 12/2/13

Conservatives are pro-death penalty, pro-war, anti-gay, anti-universal healthcare, ---NurseRobert on 12/2/13

No, the Bible is. And conservatives just happen to be pro-Bible. To bad you aren't!

anti-Medicare, anti-Medicaid, anti-Social Security

No, we're only opposed to these programs being abused by liberals in order to hold people hostage and buy votes. Liberals are the ones who robbed the Medicare and SS accounts of the seniors who have worked for it their whole their lives and gave it to perfectly able bodied welfare recipients who have never worked a day in their life! Conservatives support giving SS back to the people who paid into it.
---Jed on 12/2/13

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mat 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
---TheSeg on 12/2/13

OK Cluny, that's one in a row.
Maybe that person can't get what they need because so many that don't need are getting what they don't deserve.

I know of one who was on Gov assistance, had a Gov paid apt and never lived in it but kept it from those who needed it. She drew welfare, foodstamps, assisted health care all the while collecting $4,000.00 tax free cash from another place.

Each time she had an child by an unknown father she got a raise.

Want to help the majority of the poor? Teach 'em to work and cut the little nice things that cost so much like designer jeans!!
---Elder on 12/2/13

cluny, don't be a smarty. you know as well as I do what I am talking about. I certainly am not talking about the disabled. I now some of those too. he has a free phone and lives in gov housing on disability. cluny, you just don't have anything nice to say to anyone do you?
---shira4368 on 12/2/13

\\ I do not want to feed someone with $200.00 tennis shoes on carrying a 400.00 cell phone pd for by gov.\\

I know someone who has diabetic shoes paid for by Medicaid. They cost $150 and are now falling apart because they are three years old.

He also has a so-called Obamaphone (though the program actually started under President Reagan). It was clearly well used and poorly refurbished when he got it, because never holds a charge. Nevertheless, he must use it once a month or lose his eligibility for the program.

He lives on SSD, cannot work because of physical disability, and gets a grand total of $11 in food stamps a month.

How does this fit in with your view of things, shira?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Shira, 1) I challenge you to prove your $400 phone statement. 2) Are you aware of these people circumstances? Do you know whats in their heart or are you judgeing like Jed?

Are you equating money to compassion? Conservatives are pro-death penalty, pro-war, anti-gay, anti-universal healthcare, anti-Medicare, anti-Medicaid, anti-Social Security but you give some money to a church that might use it to feed the homeless but could just as easily use it (and millions more) to support more conservative "christians". It doesn't surprise me that more people are turning from God.

Nurse Robert, And, how do you think that the End-Times will play out?
D'you believe, then, that what you think, say and do, as an individual Believer during the End-Times will have absolutely no bearing on where you end up and what will happen to you??
What you think, say and do now will make a difference as to what happens to you in the End Times.
The lax attitude of Sit back and watch the parade go by....
---Gordon on 12/2/13

Yes I watch fox too. I eat the meat and spit out the bones. There is not enough churches to feed the entitlement bunch. The gov. Is holding the crowd hostage. I have fed the homeless but I do not want to feed someone with $200.00 tennis shoes on carrying a 400.00 cell phone pd for by gov. The cycle needs to be broken but every year the "needy" list gets longer and longer.

The church should be more concerned of the things that God commanded, like loving your neighbor and helping the poor.

---NurseRobert on 12/1/13

Which is exactly what conservatives do! And exactly what liberals preach, but the opposite of what they actually do!

But conservatives also believe in doing the other things that God commanded too, which liberals completely ignore. Actually, liberals glamorize the exact things which God commanded NOT to do!

We, of the American Church, need to be more concerned about the New World Order...---Gordon on 12/1/13

This is what strikes at the heart of the problem. The American Church has gone over to paranoia. At the end of time do you really think that all of that will matter?

The church should be more concerned of the things that God commanded, like loving your neighbor and helping the poor.
---NurseRobert on 12/1/13

Trisha, I also know a woman who went to Muslim. country but she is not allowed to return home. I'm sure there are some Muslims who are not as radical but their bible says they are to kill those who refuse to be converted. Why do you think they are trying to take over the world?
---shira4368 on 12/1/13

Shop For Christian Loans

My point is, there are plenty of Christians living in Muslim countries. They don't do it openly, like we do. They have to worship underground, just as believers in China do, and Communist Russia did.

I also meant to point out that there are plenty of American born, U.S. citizens who are Muslims, who are not Jihadists. I taught plenty of them. I got to know their parents.
---Trish on 12/1/13

What muslim country is that, Trish? I'd be curious to know?

You don't actually think that the 0.2% of the worlds "Muslims" that live in the U.S. accurately represent the entire Muslim community around the world, do you? If so, you bring the word naive to a whole new level! They are no more Muslim than you and NurseRoberts are Christians. They are assimilated muslims. They don't fully practice their religion because they are vastly outnumbered and to do so would be illegal. And because, like NurseRoberts and yourself, they are trying to fit into a society that frowns upon religios devotion, so they do it half-way. Islamic countries show what true practicing Muslims look like.
---Jed on 12/1/13

I know a missionary who frequently makes trips to Muslim countries to visit Christians who are studying to minister the Gospel there.

My own daughter spent a summer in a Muslim country ministering to his children when they lived there.

I also know of American born, U.S. citizens who are not Jihadists.
---Trish on 12/1/13

We, of the American Church, need to be more concerned about the New World Order, One-World Government, rather than the Muslim religion.

If we would not let the NWO have our freedoms, we could better deal with the Muslim situation.

Thus, America's bigger enemy is, not only herself and her lax attitude towards defending her Freedom, but, the Anti-Christ's NWO kingdom-to-come which has been, and now is, in-the-making at this time.

Most latter-day U.S.A. Presidents have betrayed America to her U.N. enemy, and the American Church, by-and-large, has stood by and let it happen.

The question above was asked in 2006. If I have my facts correct President Obama won the election for the 2nd time in 2013 so must have won it the first time in 2009. That being the case was HE responsible for the issuance of these stamps as is said here. If he was it wasn't in his role as president but must have been in the role of something else.

Forgive my ignorance of U.S. politics. I have problems even understanding our own in the U.K. !!!

The U.S. Postal Service issued its first Eid stamp commemorating the Muslim holidays Eid al-Fitr (marking the end of Ramadan) and Eid al-Adha (marking the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca) on September 1, 2001.

It was reissued one year later in October 2002 barely a month after the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. George W. Bush was president then so, should we label him a Muslim president also?

.ryan, I don't stretch my words, but expound truth as the Holy Spirit instructs, just as Christ draws parallels in order to open understanding to the receiver of his words. But you say that you doubt, yet I do not, for I do note the stamps I receive on my deliveries. Enough said, for you will believe whatever you desire.
---Eloy on 9/22/06

Eloy, again you are making a stretch to compare the ingredients (Which I also read because I am concerned with what goes into my body) and a stamp. Someone else here commented that they do not pay attention to the postage on a parcel of mail and I doubt you thoroughly check the stamps on every letter you receive.
---Ryan on 9/22/06

Donna, A-men Donna, would to God that every single Man, Woman, and Child across the land become saved and a born-again Christian, in Jesus I pray. Amen.
---Eloy on 9/22/06

Ryan, I am always honest. Just because the stamp is small does not mean that people do not take notice of them. I am one of those who read the ingredients on the back of each item I purchase at the grocery store, because I care what I ingest into my body which is the temple of the Holy Ghost. And if I cannot read the ingredients then I do not buy the item. BTW there are many like us who will take note of small items like stamps, and the signification of the pictures and symbols upon them.

Eloy--I don't usually even notice the postage on my mail.
BUT if the letter that you send with your postage stamp lifts up Jesus and gives out His Living Word, THEN it may win someone for Jesus.
---Donna2277 on 9/21/06

Eloy, you are making a stretch at best attempting to compare a stamp to an article of clothing. Come on brother, let's be honest, I slap a stamp on a letter without even taking a second glance what picture is on it, stamps are pretty small and insignificant. But I pay much closer attention to my attire, I like to look presentable. Do you put every parcel of mail under a magnafying glass and examine it closely?
---Ryan on 9/21/06

donna, yes it is likely that a postage stamp having a Christian symbol could very well win someone to the Lord. I wear 3 different T-shirts with Christian symbols: the head of Christ; the crucifix; and his pierced hand dropping blood. I've received many questions and compliments because of them, and they are a catalyst for witnessing and planting the gospel seed. If you think idolatrous stamps are harmless, then perhaps you should wear idolatrous clothing and decorate your house with them as well.
---Eloy on 9/21/06

Ryan --For once we agree. I wouldn't like the stamps, myself. But I don't think people who buy (bought) them are promoting anything. Would using a Christian stamp win anybody to the Lord? Would using a Muslim stamp covert anybody to Islam? Not likely. I'd rather concentrate on things that make a difference.

USPS (United States Postal Service) creates a huge variety of stamps. I never hesitate to ask, "Do you have any other design in that denomination?" I like the ones that depict wildlife, plants or trees. I've also asked, "what choices do I have in a 39 cent stamp?" (unless I'm terribly rushed...then I say " May I have a hundred 39 cent stamps with the U.S. flag on them"). It's a matter of taste, not a moral statement.
