Kathy; What I get a kick out of are those who says Americas founders were 'saved' Christians. Yet most of the founders, colonialist were Calvinist,-whom they include in their long, long list of 'cults.'
As to Americas revolutionary Founders, they were deist and freemasons. The problem with calling everyone else a 'cult' is the word becomes meaningless, "everyone one but me." If you look up the word 'cult' in the dictionary, it does not fit your personal definition.

WARNING: All reconstruction and dominion theology is anti-semitic. These CULTS would include:
Calvinism = Calvinist=John T
New Agers - Rick Warren
and many more. Beware of this trap. You will be falling into the hands of the anti-christ. None of these believe in Romans 6 or understand it for that matter. We( Born Again Christians) are a New Creation in Christ. They are not! They are still a 6 waiting for their 666 to arrive.

Sal, the short answer to your Q is that D-ism is NOT biblically based, in the same way that Reformed Theology is NOT biblically based.

That is because neither creator of each theology began witha blank slate. They had a system in mind, and saw that Scripture conformed to their presuppositions.

Thus, D-ism is a good way to look at Scripture, but it is NOT the only way.

Personally, I am covenantal. But that is OK. I will allow the Disps. the privilige of being wrong. 8-P

Rev. Herb has named them, I accept them and I fully believe they are biblically based.

Many people do not like dispensation teaching. These are those who believe the Church replaced Israel. They also take OT scripture and apply it to themselves, scriptures that belong to Israel, and future promises to them. Many promises still have to come to pass for Israel. Example Genesis 49:1 is to Israel, for the "LAST DAYS"!
I find those who hate dispensationalists are anti-semitic.

Each dispensation revealed more and more of God's plan of salvation. There were not different plans as some may thing , but all the same plan. The final fulfillment of Genesis 3:15, will be at the end of the Kingdom Age, when the Final overthrow of satan will thrown into a lake of fire for all eternity. Order also in 1st Cor 15

When growing up, I was taught just 3: innocence, law, and grace (or church).
There are actually several different schools of dispensationalism, and I just don't mean referring to interpreting Bible prophecy, either.
The Divine Principle of Sun Myung Moon is a form of dispensationalism.

A dispensationalist is one who believes and lives by times and seasons. The garden of Eden was a time. The pre flood era was a time. From flood to Moses was a time. The law was a time.etc. Some things overlap in these dispensations so they cannot be black and white. Personally, I don't see a great importance or Bible intruction to be one.

#1 Dispensations are key to understanding the bible. Each dispensation has a trial, failure & punishment.
---Ryan on 9/27/06

In a nutshell, dispensationalists are those who believe in the pre-tribulationion rapture of the church. The word dispensation means a specific arrangement or system by which something is dispensed and is found four times in the NT. But like most other doctrines taught today, this one has a lot of holes in it. It's another frivolous debate among Christians. To live Christian life, keep it simple fear God and obey his commandments.

Sal, Dispensationalism is a theology began by Scotsman JN Darby in 1840s or so. Depending upon whom you ask, there are 4, 7 or 11 dispensations, or different economies that God deals with his children. Rev Herb is a traditional D-ism believer with 7.
Two main themes of D-ism are 1) The church is NOT Israel (Matt24 is not for this age) and a premillennial, pretribulational rapture.
