If you think about it what good would it do to gain the whole world and live for the moment and your soul goes to hell for eternity? I understand how you feel, but I have learned to be content with what God has blessed me with financially. I would rather have riches stored up in Heaven! And I agree with Robyn, read and meditate on Psalms 73. God Bless!

Read Psalms 73 over and over until you understand it thoroughly. Won't do much for putting finances in your pocket but you will have a better understanding of why the wicked seems to prosper all of the time and Christians don't. I read this Psalms only days ago. I too have wondered, at this. blessings

I have often pondered this question myself. It seems as if people who listen to the devil have more at times, but I try to remember that they lay their riches on Earth, where it can be stolen, and corrupted. From my experience walking with God, satan will throw everything he can at you to make you turn from God. Just keep trusting in God. It is really hard at times, but the end result is worth the trial.

Stephanie, do you pay your tithes? I know some folks on this board don't believe in tithing 10% of your income, but even before I was a Christian 23 years ago, I gave 10% of my salary to 3 different ministries, and I am still seeing the financial blessings being poured out upon my life to this day. "Give and it shall be given unto you."
"Bring all your tithes into the storehouse so that there may be food in your house."

Do you pay your tithes? If not then maybe it is time. I know from experience that when I didn't pay my tithes, I was behind on all my bills, my home was about to lose my home. I start paying my tithes again, and my bills are paid. I may not have much money left, but hey my bills are paid.

bebet ... In England too, the phrase would mean that Stephanie cannot stay one step ahead of her bills. We would not here use it to mean any sort of financial competition with other people.

Sometimes God takes away what we most love, and yes contrary to what some believe that can be a blessing.

It always hurts to have something pried from your grasp when you should have been holding it loosely all the while.

Think of the way these trials are effecting you, if they are causing you to rely on God more than ever then these things are causing you to follow Jesus' words in Matthew 6. Take no thought...

Hebrews 12 tells us those who go undisciplined are bastard children

Madison 1101: Thank you for the correction! Do you mean to say that "can't stay ahead financially" is an idiomatic expression? If it is, I am sorry for my comment. I am not an English speaker, you know. I understand the phrase in my culture as trying to compete with everyone.

Go Jack uh huh, uh huh... go Jack!

Stephanie, "It rains on the just and unjust alike.." Ultimately God is in control and He knows your every need. Ask Him if there is something you can change that could changes your financial position. He promises that - if any man lack wisdom, he can ask ... and God will give it - to paraphrase. Examine yourself, but in the light of His grace and mercy - and His glorious sovereignty...

Go Jack....

**He is held accountable to His word.**

* W * R * O * N * G * !!!

God is absolutely free and sovereign.
---Jack on 10/5/06

God is entitled to bless you because His word said He would. He is held accountable to His word.(Isaiah 55:11; Isaiah 43:26) When you pay your tithes or sow you seed demand that God bless you. Be bold/confident when you pray for you blessing. When Jesus said "Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My Name..."(John 16:33) The word "ask" literally means "demand; petition". Abraham was bold enough to talk to God & God always answered.(Genesis 18)

I agree with Donna. When we pay our tithes God said,"...prove Me now herewith says the Lord of hosts if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there will not be room enough to recieve it." God has given us the right to "tempt" Him. When you pay your tithes He is entitled to bless you.

Bebet: I believe "staying ahead financially" has nothing to do with competing with anyone. It means that one is able to make one's bills at the end of the month, and have a little bit to go into the next month with. One cannot do that if they are hit with car repairs, or broken water heaters. Some people live paycheck to paycheck and don't have the extra for the crises that Stephanie is talking about.
---Madison1101 on 10/4/06

Stephanie, be comforted that God knows what we each need and will provide. My family has been where you seem to be & we not only survive but are blessed. Many times we are able to share with others how to not go through what we did. Your question did bless me though. I have been praying to see why so many people are leaving the traditional Christian songs. Your ? encourages me more because I can look back to those songs such as "Farther along" and be comforted.

Personally, the phrase "staying ahead financially" means that I am to compete with the rest and that I have to be always financially well off than the rest. Must staying ahead financially be the focus for Christians?
