I Am A Quaker And Catholic

Greetings! I attend a Quaker church and Catholic church; I'm "Quatholic" :-). My boyfriend is Catholic. He's unsure whether he's called to marry me or become a monk. I serve my churches and have a Theological Studies degree. Am I still an ungodly girlfriend?

Moderator - How can one be a Quaker and Catholic at the same time since the docrines are VERY different?

My children attend a Quaker Church, Apostistic Church, and a Baptist Church.

So our family have involvement with three churches.

I was raised in the Baptist Church and the Catholic Church. Born again Christian is all that matters.

Your boyfriend is no monk if he is dating you. It is not you. It is so him. Ministry is a calling. Upon being called it is our responsibility to answer.

You are beautiful woman of God and never believe yourself anything different.
---Rita on 6/9/11

Quatholic, you and your friend should become born-again Christians.

I love Bro. Elders post. We have lot of quackers on here. Maybe I are one.

I came across this blog today, and it's a little discouraging to see how many people seem to treat the topic with such contempt. I too am Catholic and a Friend or Quaker. I have written a book about the path I took through Quakerism to the Catholic Church. Those who seem so certain they know who is lost and who is saved should also ask themselves if they are being faithful to Christ's call to "be one, even as my Father and I are one." Friends who are drawn to the testimony of George Fox are Christians who want to live the gospel day to day in all the details of life. But what I think they got wrong was their dismissal of all the "outward" sacraments and methods of keeping connected to the true gospel.

You need to get yourself saved. You are confused.

I agree with the moderator - Catholics and Quakers have litte in common, in fact modern Quakers have little in common with the original Quakers of Wales, who were pacificst and very instrumental in this country abolishing slavery where many broke ranks with their faith and fought with the Union. Much credit is deserved for advancing the Godly moral force against slavery.
Today some Quakers don't even consider themselves Christians as Satan has been allowed to run havoc with schizmata.
Ironically most Quakers are now on the continent of Africa which also boast the most Christians.

It don't make any diff because the quakers is just another daughter offspring church from the rcc being the First Man-made trin-church, just like the presby, luth, cog, bapt, episco, naz, aog, c - science etc.

They Are All summed up here in Rev.17 v's 4 - 6.

"Elder, did you ever try Quaker Oatmeal Squares?"
aka.joseph on 6/4/10
Joseph, I am on a diet of three square meals a day so I will certainly try them. Thanks.

//you are a girl to ride the river with 2 boats side by side, a foot in each boat what Happens when they drift apart??//

You then become a cracked Quakatholic.

Moderator - I grew up in Catholic school and had no idea what Catholics believed. Then, they made a mistake and gave us a bible in high school. Then, I found out what a Catholic wasn't.

Elder, did you ever try Quaker Oatmeal Squares? It's a very simple cereal, but I love it.
---aka.joseph on 6/4/10

I've never really met a Quaker before. So I guess I'll tell you and you pass the information on to the other Quakers for me.
I just love your Oats.
Unless, of course, you meant to say you are a Quacker.
---Elder on 6/3/10

I have found that Quaker spirituality and Catholic spirituality have the same depth of connection. The real presence in the Eucharist and the real Presence in the midst of the gathered church are the same thing. There is a great blend between the seven sacraments of the catholic church and the sacramental life of Friends. The religious society of Friends has much in common with the religious orders of the catholic church. Salvation consists of a personal relationship with Jesus which is at the center of the Catholic church and Quaker meeting. Unfortunately, the real presence is moved to a rememberance ceremony in the protesting areas of the church.

This sounds more like a Cathoquack.......Seriously confused. Get saved.

Looney Tunes. Unsure whether to marry you or become a monk, don't know if you're a Quaker or a Catholic with a degree in Theology.

I chuckled at this posting...a Quatholic? Sounds like some kind of disease. If you're indescisive, I suggest that you serve Christ Jesus only, rather than your dubious choice of religions.
---Eloy on 11/9/06

You either have a relationship with God or a relationship with the world. You can't be both. Religions are of this world. Having a relationship with God is not a religion.

Develop your relationship with God first, then you can decide to get married.
---Steveng on 11/9/06

yes it is serious business, but so is all of christianity. A true christian should be making the same type of commitment, to fully devote their lives to God. THink about it. if you are a servant or Christ, shouldn't you serve?

Dont jump into that one. If he has feelings to be a monk that is serious. Plus U cant pray to saints, invoke their names, pray to Mary & He likewise can not do what your faith requires or deny his pope, Mary or the Saints w/out betraying Rome. You belive only Jesus can not fail, He believes the Pope represents this & can not sin, U see the Pope as a man not as infailable. U may be caught up w/the warm fuzzy feelings of love but think hard.I mean this in love.
---Jeanne on 11/9/06

cecilia, I'm a quaker and I have several friends that have married Catholics I think if he has a problem with your faith then it is something you both need to talk about now and not later. the Catholic church is a great church with beautiful expressions in art and ritual. The Friends Church is beautiful aswell in it's simpleness. I think you both need to talk deeply. If he becomes a Quaker then he'd be a "protestant" Monk by one of my Church history professor's definition.
---Jared on 11/7/06

The most important question of all is - are you both saved? Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins? This life is not worth anything if you do not know for sure where you are going when you die.
---Helen_5378 on 10/17/06

Cecelia::Would you care to explain the difference because it says "No one can serve two masters."Theological Degree.looking forward to your theoritical conundrum.

You cannot possibly have a theological studies degree and say you are Quaker and Catholic. Just because you attend the Catholic church at times with your boyfriend does not make you a Catholic. You are an ungodly girlfriend if your relationship with your boyfriend is ungodly!!!!!
---Susie on 10/16/06

Your question raises a bigger question namely, whether or not you or your boyfriend are saved. I know I'm being blunt but the truth is truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the condition of your heart.
