Christian women just need to be taught, period. How to dress, carry themselves as women of God, how to do everything. Teaching is badly needed in every area of Christianity.Preachers are afraid to speak out too much on these topics, for fear of losing members. Loss of members=loss of $$$$$$$$$$$. Now you go figure.

Do they?
I hadn't noticed

Times are changing, remember God doesn't change. A woman should not wear that which pertaineth to a man v. versa. we are suppose to dress modest to be seperate from the world. Bottom rule, don't wear anything that looks manly and cover yoursef up so that no man would lust after you, don't stand out. also remember that we are not to judge others and that Jesus looks on the inside the heart, your soul is number one, pray about it and let God take care of the rest read your bible the answers are in there.

Years ago that's where the church mothers came in. They taught young women and girls how to dress among other values and spiritual matters within the church. Now all type of sin has creeped in and pastors are afraid as well to preach on these topics. so, oh Lucifer, is feeling pretty good, these days. If something is said to these women about their clothing, you are subject to be told off or something worse may happen. This is a decaying world we live in.

I come from the old school(pentecostal) I was taught to never wear pants, makeup, shorts ad nauseum. I never allowed myself to wear slacks for years. I have overcome that type teaching only 3 yrs ago. I consider myself a modest dresser. I watch the makeup, slacks (not too tight). If I look worldly, I will take it off and dress down. Not all christian women dress like a floozy. They just need to be taught and we need to be more loving and merciful toward those in error.

Not all women dress ungodly. I always try to dress modestly. If I needed to dress like a tramp to get a man, I do not think that I would want the men that I might attract. But I did find and marry a wonderful man who shares my values and respects me as a person.
---lorra8574 on 5/24/07

jana, is that you writing as 'man', wearing women's trousers, what are you saying?
---Chris on 5/24/07

I am a Christian woman. I dress very modestly. Please do not lump all Christian women into a category. I am shocked at how some women dress. Some of them claim to be Christians.
---Susie on 5/24/07

please, dont blame women 4 the way they dress. U only need 2 look in fashion magazines n what they show on tv 2 know they all r put together by men 2 suit their taste. It is men that wanted women 2 have hour glass figures and men that show these nude girls on tv n women get so stressed 2 keep up. Christian women should dress down, not up with the world. I wear dressy loose trousers 2 church bcos I am more comfortable in them n they are womens attire not mens. whats inthe hearts wht counts

christian women should dress modest.modesty is covering up regardless.yes God looks on the inside but what about your self worth or respect. what about that child that is walking down the street or in the grocerie store dont just consider yourself. give the world something to look up to. if they see you looking just like them they are not going to want to change.listen to the holy spirit he will guide you.God bless

good call. rubbish does have a nice ring too it.
---Jared on 11/5/06

Jared - I suspect I've already used the word 'rubbish' in referring to them :)
---laure5759 on 11/4/06

Many women do not know how to dress, Christian or otherwise. What the stores have to offer and push on us is awful. I sew many of my cloths, because I prefer long skirts.

Have you seen what little girls 8-10 are wearing these days. It's shocking.
---SandraW on 11/4/06

what would be a good word for them then? hum how about what is the word for the light weight curtains that "look nice" but don't really do anything? that would be a good word for them those from like the 1960's
---Jared on 11/4/06

Jared - as a woman, I don't even think of the rubbish in the fashion magazines as 'clothes'. That is too good a word for them! I agree with you!
---laure5759 on 11/2/06

Personally I would rather Christians wear clothes of the world instead of some Out of the World stuff. have you seen some of the fashion Magizines? Not so much the "sexyness" of the clothes but the color combo's sometimes are enough to make your stomach churn. REALLY some of that stuff is scary... I'll shop at walmart any day fashion is scary

Well some women, not ALL,I apologize ,do dress according to society & not the bible. The bible says not to dress like a man ,& the bible is not set to culture, but made for those in the past, present&future, nothing changes.I see some women walking into church with a tight sweater that makes me gag, or some clothing that glitters that takes the thought off God & think "how much did that cost?"for example. Modesty to me is plain, no overdoing attraction, otherwise clthing like the amish is aceptable.
---candice on 11/1/06

Why do you think women wear ungoly close they wont to be notice by the other sex
---Betty on 11/1/06

Raine....I have only one thing to say. BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Thank God I live in the desert.
---Susie on 10/31/06

Woman have been deceived, lied too, to dress to bring attention to the body and off the spirit. Satans attempt to get us focused on the body. We are made in His image - a spirit. Satan has taught woman how to dress to get the approval of a man. To bring attention to the body and off the spirt. Worshipping the outward appearance more than the Creator. This is part of the battle - getting the truth. Woman are to dress modestly - No Cleavage or tight clothes. Our spirit is what is to attract.

I don't dress like a floozie. I'm covered from head to toe. Today, I have on a wool scotch cap that laces in the front. Turtleneck, jeans, insulated long underwear, wool socks, mittens, wool parka, insulated pack boots and a partial nylon mask for my face when I go outside - so my nose doesn't freeze. All you can see are my teeth and eyeballs.

Donna9759, Yes that sounds good Donna! This is no surprise, because from your post you seem like someone who walks in the Spirit full-time, not part-time. That word "sexy" is the worlds terminology, I don't use that word anymore, God moved on me about certain word's. God Bless you sister Donna!
---Mrs._Morgan on 10/30/06

Worldly or sexy? Do you mean no clevage? I agree. I do NOT dress like that at all. I am a 47 year old pretty woman and I dress business casual for work and for church I have clothes that cover my clevage but are "pretty." No flashly stuff, and one necklace if I feel like wearing jewelry. Does that sound okay for a Christian woman?
---Donna9759 on 10/30/06

If we focus on what a person wears we take our eyes off Jesus. By the same token we are not to judge or condemn others. The world is not our home, we are just passing through. We need to show love to everyone and let our light shine.

Its like I said before, God looks at the heart yes, but we should dress modestly. Not wearing tight and revelling clothes. I believe that a lot of people believe that God does look at the heart, and then they take that to far. I hope you know what I am trying to say.
---a_friend on 10/30/06

Isnt modesty defined by culture? Living in the mid-east, they would consider a woman showing any skin as immodest, including face, hands and feet. Our Victorian ancestors were allowed to show hands and faces. Now even the most conservative women bare arms and some leg. Many cultures in warm climates allowed women to bare their breasts but once they got religion, they covered them up. Of course, the mean did not cover their breasts.

Many parents, who have taken their children to church, and so the children have called themselves Christian, have not taught these children to dress properly. So, for a start, one could question the 'Christianness' of these women.

However, my experience is that true Christians do dress well - and modestly. So this will need some more explanation.
---laure5759 on 10/29/06

First, what do you consider, "worldly"?
Second, our rule of thumb for our daughter was, "be attractive but not an attraction."

Women's clothing that is modest & not "dowdy" is hard to find. Thankfully most men won't wear thin, clingy shirts & pants. My wife is able to make many of her own clothes as well as being a good shopper. We visit the GoodWill and Salvation Army stores often not just to be "thrifty" but for better clothes. Too many women equate "professional" with "sexy" with "nice looking" with "in fashon". Sexy means S E X & Y.
---mikefl on 10/28/06

How do you mean by worldly? By wearing alot of neclaces or expensive jewelry, coats, clothes? Or do you mean that when you go to a shopping center all you can find is hip-huggers, bell-bottoms (before my time). I can't find clothes at a shopping mall or store. They are either to expensive or just YUCKY. I go to Good-Will or Faith-N-Works, to get me and my family clothes. expect the undergarments and socks.
---Rebecca_D on 10/28/06

Because they want "the world" and God too, and we know that just won't work (1 John 2:15-17). God Bless!
