To Whosoever has an ear to hear?

Once we discern this Word of God, we SHOULD most definitely walk-in it with all our heart, soul & mind, in ever aspect of our lives.

That's something that was easy to do during our Lord's earthly sojourn, and had some point.

Are you sure this is something he would have Brother Lon do now in 2006?

If God is requiring this of you, it can be a wonderful thing. When we are ask of God to exercise the faith we proclaim the growth we experience is priceless. However know that it comes many times with much travail. I have lived at times on faith. I have received money in
the mail to pay bills that were due, the day they were due, from people I didn't know nor they me. Only that God Had told them to send it. But I will tell you it is not all glory and excitement. KNOW THAT IT IS GOD! not just feelings

NO! The Lord loves a cheerful giver but doesn't require everyone to sell all they have and give to the poor. Then you become the poor too. It is better to praise God for what you have,God orders the steps of a righteous man,and be able to give to the needy all the time out of your plenty, than one time. The only things we must get rid of are those things which stand between us and God, which prevent us from following Christs leading.

If this scripture burns in your heart, then do it. Do you want to rid yourself of all earthly treasures and desire only Jesus, His word, His work? You can do it a little at a time, and He will let you know if this is His will for you. God Be With You!

You need to find out why ISRAEL was told to sell all things. Yes ISRAEL, not gentiles. Christ was about to set up the kingdom, if the people of Israel would follow Christ.

In Luke 18:22 when Jesus said sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor he was speaking spiritually of the rich mans ability from God that made him so rich; not of the material things the rich man had. There is nothing wrong with giving a fish, but it is better to first give a net & show how to us it. So they can catch most importantly other men. So first you have to know what you have spiritually from God before you can look to sell and distribute anything.

As I'm sure you have read, it is about YOUR personal walk with GOD. Beware of rules or statements from others unless you are convicted it is a message from God. Try the spirits to see if they are true. We should all share our excess with those who are truely in need. That is different from a professional beggar or user. We have an obligation to be good stewards of what God gives us both for ourselves and for others.

Make sure it is something God has ask of you, or you could end up as one of the poor. Pray about it and listen for Gods answer

The rich young ruler was told that if he sold everything he had and gave it to the poor he would have treasure in heaven. The early church brought everything they had and the goods were distributed to the needy. If we all did that there would not be any starving people on the planet. We would see the kingdom of heaven manifested in a way not seen since the early church. I know several people who sold everything and none of them have regrets. If God wants you to do it go ahead. You won't regret it.

Bruce5656 gave a wonderful response to this question. It is about giving up everything and following Christ. When you are accepted by Christ as a disciple there may be things He commands you to give up, this shows weathere you are obedient to His voice or not. Also faith without works is dead. Obedience is the works within your faith. God bless you my friend.

Is God telling you to do that? Ask God if he wants you to do that. What would you want to prove by doing that? What's your motive? It's the condition of your heart that matters, not material things, but what is your motive for wanting to do that?

It seems you might be reading the story of the rich young ruler in Luke 18:18-30

The answer is; Not unless your possessions are your god. Jesus told the rich young ruler to do this because he knew that his money was his god. As it turns out he wss not prepared to stop trusting in his own resources and trust God for his needs.
