Should We Help Foreigners

Why do you think it's necessary to take care of other countries, as much as we do, when we ourselves are being neglected by our own government, especially Senior Citizens?

This is hard it isnt just cut and dry. We used to be independent but now we are not so in a way we have "to help" to certain degrees. But I dont think we should be the worlds "police", "hero" and "bank". We should never do it to the point where we neglect our own people that is foolish.

We have codependency. When codependency becomes a disease, you can't cut the ties. This may be too simple for the political types, but it applies. We're in over our heads. Hopefully, all the democrats will be able to solve the world's problems now.

When in the Navy, I visited many ports over the globe. Almost all (except in England & Australia)disliked us. We had to wear uniforms on liberty & many times were cursed, spit on, or worse by locals just for intruding in their towns. I visited many churches over seas & spent time with families. They couldn't understand the USA's domineering attitude to make the world like us. They admit our money was good & so were the goods we used to pay for bases there. When you can't make friends, you buy them...

Alan UK Quint, Electicty is produced by expensive plants, many are nuclear and companies are allowed to put the cost of building on our bills so they keep going up. Now the Goverment controls on prices are being removed so it will go up even more. Our gas is nearly $3.00 a gallon, much cheaper than yours. I would guess perhaps it's because we have many oil fields and refining plants of our own. USA to the point average family does well to pay bills and have little left to help anyone but own family.

Hi darlene ... That surprises me.
I had imagined your energy bills would be lower than in the UK, in the same way that your gasoline (petrol) prices are lower. Our price per litre is nearly 2, so a gallon is about 11 & that must be about $15 -$17?

Alan UK Quint,ha ha I would like it too if it was yearly but that is per month,$6000.00 a year,my daughter's has been as high as $900.00 a month, our utilities have risen terribly in the last year. We use electicity for everything too.

Darlene ... I like the sound of your energy bill. Mine is about 1500 a year ... that's over $2000.
But then I use fuel for washing and heating and watching the TV and powering my computer and telephone.
I think we do owe some responsibility who don't even have clean water.

It is bad policy for a person or a country to borrow money to "LEND" to others especially when they know they will never get it back. We are to be good stewarts of money but that type of helping puts us in debt and causes a hardship on the giving countries people. It is getting harder to make a living in USA,electicty runs high,#500.00 bills not unusual, as do other things. USA shouldn't help others to the hurt of their own people through higher taxes ,lowered help for their own.

It is God's blessings that has put This country in its position among nations. The best aid program ever devised was the "Peace Corps". In my travels I often ran into Peace Corps workers. I found that they enjoyed their work, and were greatly appreciated in the host countries. When teaching school I discovered that conservatively speaking 25% of the population is unemployable, incompetent.

The government helps other countries for economic reasons. But also, even our Senior Citizens have more then people in many poor countries.

It is right to give aid where you can.
