Destroyed For Lack Of Knowledge

Does this statement in Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge "disprove the idea or belief of predestination, election, resistible grace and Calvinism as a whole?

knowledge is freedom, but at the same time bondage. The reason is the more you study the word of god, one is convicted, and the more one is convicted, the more darker and in bondage the world seems. And, the realization of this is very difficult... in lieu of the compromises to sin these days, even amongst those who are supposed to be with us on our journey of discipleship. Maybe we have to walk alone.

Another example, is some folks still consider themselves sinners after they get saved. That opposes the bible too. 2Corinthians 5:21 & Philippians 2:5-6 show that we are equal with God or ,simply put, "in God's class".

#1 God doesn't classify His kids as sinner.
If He did He would have to classify Himself as a sinner; but He isn't.

>#2 In equality with God we have a right to eveything that belongs to God. Some believe that God only blesses some folks. That opposes the word because of (Ephesian 1:3)#3 In Christ we are no longer "sinners", but saints. We are no longer to be in condemnation(Romans 8:1; John 8:32)
#4 When a person knows what the word says about them and who they are they will be free indeed or in actions & life.

Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge "

Some people believe that knowledge is something that a Christian shouldn't possess. To them its something evil.

Paul says tht we are judged according to the truth that we are presented with.

Thank you mikef for you insight. Very hard to dismiss, but many do. I am going to answer Jared with a question. The question is this, "How can there be none-Christians in heaven?" What Scripture clearly states that as fact? The reason I ask is that you put that down and later on you put,"If we claim Him we are Ok" and so both are not consistant. A non-Christian does not claim Christ so how can he be in heaven? Can you give Scripture Jared?

As predestinate(d)can be found 4 times in the N.T. and is used encouragingly I find it difficult to dismiss it. Since God has an elect group I find it also hard to dismiss. I do however find it not only easy but hopeful to see that God expects us as His bride to be alert and ready for His coming. How can we do this without being "educated" in His word for us? Anyone who is destroyed because of lack of the scriptural knowledge they need for salvation must not be of God.

I think many of you will be pretty surprised when we get to heaven. There might be non-christians there, we don't know it's a mystery. According to verious denominations only Baptist will be there or catholics, or presbyterians. (of course much of this has been changed) the real comfort we can have is what have we done with Christ when we heard. if we claim him we are ok. I think God is beyond us and he will know if someone would choose him if they heard the True Gospel or not

if someone has only been told lies their whole life about Jesus then do you think God would judge them damned if they had the spirit of belief in their heart? I don't think so. But you know it is something we will never really know.
---Jared on 11/10/06

We can lack knowledge in many things & they can destroy us. It doesnt disprove predestinatiion, election etc. Example if you drink salt water at 1st it just tastes bad but later it makes you sick as a dog some sailors say it can even kill U. You lacked knowledge by drinking it even though U were thristy. The lack of knowledge made these saliors sick.So the same w/lacking knowledge in the spirt realm.

Of course, Rickey, everything you said is very correct too.

In Psalms 8:5 it shows that we were made a little lower(lower in rank) than God.
The word "ANGELS" comes from the word "Elohim" which means God.
1. As God's children we are in His class; equal WITH, not to, Him.(Philippians 2:5-6)
2. We have a right to all of His stuff(Romans 8:17; Galatians 4:7)
---Rickey on 11/10/06

3. We aren't to lack anything(Psalms 23:1)The word "want" means "to lack or be without".
4. Jesus is the Good Shepherd Who leads His sheep. He is leading us into "ZOE", the God-kind of life; life more abundantly(John 10:10)
5. If you lack it He has it. All we have to do is ask(demand of) Him for it.
6. God literally binds Himself to His word.(Jeremiah 1:12; Hebrews 6:17-18)
7. God is not a man that He should lie.(Numbers 23:19)
---Rickey on 11/10/06

8. God bound Himself to His promise & His oath.
9. God wants to bless you.(Hebrews 6:12)
---Rickey on 11/10/06

Christian means "like Christ(the anointed One and His Anointing)
To be like Christ is to consider ourselves equal with God or simply in God's class
"like Christ" did.(John 5:18; Philippians 2:5-6; 2Corinthians 5:21)
---Rickey on 11/10/06

Absolutely, Mima. It says my people are destroyed for lack of knowlegde not for lack of favor with God who chose not to elect them to salvation.

#2Here's the most common reason they lack knowledge:
John 1:4-5: In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it
John 3:19-20: ..Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light...
---Okebaram on 11/10/06

No. It actually shows that many christians are missing out on what the Word says they have, who they are, etc; because they don't have the knowledge of it or just won't recieve the knowledge of it. For instance, healing, some might say "IF it's God's will He will heal me"; that opposes the word. IPeter 2:24; Psalms 103:3; 3rd John2 all show that God has already done His part & now it's up to us to do ours.
