Can Christians have a curse or spell put on them. Is there any scripture that backs this up?

No, a TRUE born-again child of God(the one's who live in holiness and righteousness through Jesus) can't have a curse put on them, The divine Blood of Jesus, the power of the Holy Ghost protects them. In regard to Scripture reference, the Word states that if they(true-born again child of God) should accidentally drink poison(Mark 16:18),it will not kill them. This should tell you that it's that power(God's power) that worketh within God's Redeemed(Ephesians 3:20)that protects them from such things.

Eloy- geat answer! Helen5378- the key phrase to me is "may devour" meaning he cant devour just anyone. he has to be permitted to devour. we have to give him lattitude to work in order for him to do so

Okebram 6 years ago a time of mental demonic oppression ended after 5 years for me. I was 16, used a Ouja board and lived through a 5 year nightmare. Will God in some way reward me for putting up with all of that? I mean assuming I'm saved now of course.

There is another Truth. We are spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places In Christ Jesus, ABOVE powers and principalities. We do know the devil can oppress Christians. As we Grow in the Grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, putting on the whole armor of God, which is Christ in you, 1 John says, "young men have overcome the evil one".Christ in us is mighty in the pulling down of strongholds. So important truths to understand and grow in these last days.Romans 12:1&2.

Eloy, May God Bless you too brother Eloy(smile)!

The Lord Jesus bless you Mrs. Morgan.

(I.) "Behold, I give unto you power to TREAD ON serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy...."(Luke 10:19). Helen5378 , Yes the devil is "running loose", but that doesn't mean that God's true people can't "bruise his head" from time to time. We are currently in a Spiritual War.
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/14/06

(II.)When God delivers a person, that bruises satan, many times he is under a child of God's feet, but he can get up and roam again,(but not for long) there are thousands more that he/his demons attacks. Eventually he will not have any freedom to CONTINUE TO attack soon. At the battle of Armageddon ALL enemies of the Lord (including the devil, and death)will be collectively put under Jesus' Feet, They won't just be bruised,They will STAY down(won't go roaming). What a time that will be! God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/14/06

(III.)Helen5378, We know that God will release satan for only a season, and he(satan) will gather some , but we know what happens next! That's the end for them, for good! God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/14/06

Okebaram - Scripture clearly says that Satan is not under our feet. 1 Peter 5:8 says "..your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour". Luke 10:19,20 says that we have been given all authority over the enemy, but he is not yet under our feet.
---Helen_5378 on 11/13/06

Mrs. Morgan, your statement is wrong. There are supposed Christians who open themselves to attack because of their lifestyles; but there are very humble, holy Christians who are wrongfully oppressed to a significant but limited extent by demonic powers because of their ignorance or other mental defects. To say otherwise is untrue. Even God's own people perish for lack of knowledge. And though the victory is ours, we still have to fight to conquer.

Helen, how can you say Satan is not under our feet?
---Okebaram on 11/13/06

Malachi 2:2 tells us if we do not set our hearts to honor God in His name that "He will send a curse upon you and curse your blessings." The one thing that God cannot abide is dishonoring Him in any way shape or form.

Kay/Helen ;I know no one has moved a mountain ,it's just that Christ used highly figurative language most of the time,it's when we take these things literally that we run into problems! Helen as far as walking on water,it was not a matter of faith. Jesus performed no miracles for the 1st 30yrs.He recieved H.S at His baptism, after which He walked on water and healed the sick, fed the multitude,etc..not faith but power of the H.S.
---1st_cliff on 11/13/06

I can only tell of my own experience and I know people will still not believe. I was saved in 1983. I went to a meeting where Wyn Worley was speaking in 1984. Before they prayed for me, they said they needed to break curses off of my life. I guess curses don't automatically leave a person when they are saved. I still don't understand this. I was however, set free from a spirit of rejection that was awesome and from that night on "Whom the Son has set free, was free indeed."
---Donna9759 on 11/13/06

Okebaram, I know, and especially today we need to know this truth more then ever. This man said that horrible things had happened to him. I won't go into all of it. I guess if you don't know Truths and facts of who you are in Christ, the devil can really have a hay day with someone.
---kathr4453 on 11/13/06

No, When one tries to curse what God himself has blessed it will always backfire upon themself, just as when Pharoah thought he was cursing the Israelites firstborn children, and in turn he ended up cursing his own child to death. All curses are impervious to true born-again Christians, and any who are foolish enough to curse the sanctified of God will many times lose their own life because of it. Because God is not mocked, so whenever you mess with God's kids, you are messing with your own Creator God.

"So I know that if you have enough faith, God will answer."

---Kay on 11/12/06

Okebaram - Satan is not under our feet. 1 Peter 5:8 says that "our adversary the devil roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour". Satan under our feet is a false teaching.
---Helen_5378 on 11/12/06

Okebaram , Their protection depends on if they are a TRUE child of God, or not. Even if a "True Child of God" fears that a person "will put something on them"(and they shouldn't) they won't be affected, because they are protected by the Blood of Jesus. Some Christian's are not TRUE children of God(so they are NOT protected by the Blood of Jesus) did you know that? They only have a FORM of Him, so they only have a "form" of salvation. God Bless!
---Mrs._Morgan on 11/12/06

Kathr, I think it is a shame for a Christian to say that a curse was placed on them. People should know their rights in Christ. Satan is under our feet!

1st Cliff: No, I do not know anyone who moved a mountain. Jesus was talking about faith. Maybe I don't have enough faith to move a mountain. Jesus withered a fig tree by faith. Jesus walked on water with faith. I can pray for others for healing and with that faith, my prayers have been answered over and over again. So I know that if you have enough faith, God will answer.

"mima , Why would someone want to purposely drink a deadly thing? Either they accidentally drink it, or someone forces it. Anyone who purposely does that is crazy, and they are tempting God! God Bless!"

Mrs._Morgan, thats exactly what I was thinking.
---Kay on 11/12/06

Mrs. Morgan, I am actually talking about both kinds of curses. The same principle that applies to generational curses must apply to Satanic curses; and many genrational curses are Satanic curses on a family. I already said it should not be this way. But it is for some. If a chrsitian does not know his/her rights concerning this in Christ Jesus, I'm afraid a witch may be able, to a significant extent, to place "curses"on him. Read Ecc 10:5-7. God bless.

"Helen; Do you know anyone who has moved a mountain, without a bulldozer? At anytime, anywhere ,ever?"

1st_cliff, "mountains" = troubles or anything that seems impossible to accomplish
Matthew 17:20-"..If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto the mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall move; and NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE UNTO YOU."

Mrs. Morgan, That is exactly what I was asking. I've heard Christians say that they have had curses put on them, and I just have a problem with this. There was a minister in Savannah years ago who claimed that happened to him. I honestly do not believe someone can, but wanted to hear from others if they had a similar experience. Since witchcraft is on the rise, and we know we are in the last days, I believe we are well, this: Psalms 91.
---kathr4453 on 11/12/06

Not Ephesians 6:10-18 Christians! That is, as long as we dilligently "stand" & keep our focus (attention) on the Lord. When we shift our focus from the Word of God (like Elijah did & became afraid when the witch Jezebel cursed him with a verbal spell) we can be harrassed (intimidated) by; but, never possessed (controlled) by evil. (2 Tim 1:7)

" Stay the course " soldiers in the army of the Lord! (1 Cor. 15:57-58)

1st Cliff: The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20 because they are part of the Dead Sea Scrolls which were found at a later date. Mark 16:16-18 is talking about faith. If you believe with all your heart you can move mountains too (Mark 11:22-23).

Okebaram , I thought Kathr was talking about someone putting a hex or spell on someone, like witch craft. Some Christian's are afraid of this, especially the one's who live in countries where that is more common place. God's Redeemed, don't have to worry about that. I think you are talking about generational curses, or bondages that run in families? God Bless!

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
If you are living under the new covenant no curse can come nigh unto you, but to live under the law or false doctrines will bring a curse as Paul said: let them be accursed that follow heresy, therefore being the reason to check your beliefs, before it is to late.

what is a curse or a spell, in actuallity it is trying to control actions through fear. 1 John says that perfect, or complete, Love casts out all fear. which means that When we are committed totally to Christ and embrace his love completely then nothing can really hold us back through fear. (also Paul tells us that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world)
---Jared on 11/11/06

that doesn't mean that someone wont' try to put a curse on you, it just won't work, because they can't put fear in you.
---Jared on 11/11/06

Mrs.Morgan; It's obvious you don't know that Mark 16.8-20 are spurious (added) and not part of scripture. How many evangelical snake handlers in the south have been killed by pioson snakes? Drink poison and you will die no question about it! Have you read about Jimmy Jones?
---1st_cliff on 11/11/06

Mrs. Morgan; MARK 16:18 says,: and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; nothing is stated about "accidentaly drinking "any deadly thing.

A "prophet" claimed to have placed a curse on me for disagreeing with his "visions". But his goofy curse backfired. :)
---Kay on 11/11/06

Mrs. Morgan, I have to disagree. Kathr, no true Christian SHOULD live under a curse. Yet, a true Christian can be victimized by demons under a curse when there is some form of break in the hedge or unbroken spiritual stronghold in the person's life, the reason for which is NOT necessarily sin, but many times ignorance, past yokes etc. Through spiritual warefare, such curses CAN be broken, because Jesus already paid the price for them...but it will take spiritual warefare, sometimes. Don't be unaware.
---Okebaram on 11/11/06

The curse we are all born under is sin. It says "cursed is He that hangs upon the tree" so Jesus took our curse by "hanging" on the tree of calvary He became our curse. I do think certain "sins/familar spirits" can run in families & some may view these as curses. But not everything is the Devil or a curse a lot is just plain us-our flesh, if we keep on sinning we can open the door to spiritual things but the Devil is not under every rock sometimes is is our flesh acting up.
---Jeanne on 11/11/06

Gal. 4:10 Those that live by the law are cursed and those that live by faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Anyone can be cursed as well as blessed. It has always been our choice to walk in the blessing or in the cursing. Why are we asked to bless our food? Because prayer sanctifies or removes curses. The choice of life and death has always been ours. Choose life, thay you may live.
