Does Obedience Bring Blessings
Well, does disobedience bring blessing?
We are blessed with SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS in Heavenly Places IN CHRIST!!
If you're still worldly, earthy, carnal, have your focus on things of the world/ worship and follow man and his teachings and not Christ and God's word, ...what kind of blessings do you think comes from that? Earthly Blessings/ material blessings? That's NOT the blessings God gives the CHURCH In Christ. Our Blessings are Heavenly ones!! The Riches that are IN CHRIST, no matter how or what hardships we endure here on this earth!!
---kathr4453 on 11/5/10|
Yes to both. Christians do not obey for the purpose of obtaining blessings. In fact, a person may "obey", while having very ungodly motives.. Yet, I've seen God generously bless people (myself included) who in no way deserve to be blessed.
I can't see God as keeping a score-card on every Christian, balancing his obedience against the blessing he receives. Christians obey, not out of fear or compulsion, but out of love for the Savior who loves them and died for them, while they were yet sinners.
Bear in mind that some of the greatest blessings come disguised as trials. And only long afterward will you realize it. Likewise, material things that delight you today, may turn into a trap that tests your faithfullness.

Obedience is your reasonable service to the Lord. So my answer is yes and no.
We have a reward system like God's we reward our children for being obedient to us. But that is the extra thing that we do for them. Children aught to obey anyway because that is the right thing to do. On the other hand God rewards them that delingently seek him. And yes those rewards can come because of obedience and sometimes the Lord blesses just because.
---joyce on 11/1/10|
Donna, blessings are given to everyone in the world, for some are blessed more then others in worldly material things and money. But our obedience as believers brings glory to God. And He rewards us in many other ways then material things. Our obedience is cause by Christ living in our lives. Without Him we can do nothing that is good towards God. For everything without faith is sin.

How can the BoC receive more blessings than this?

God-the Author of ALL blessings.Ecclesiastes(aLL) "To the man that walks under the sun"
9:2 All [things come] alike to all:[there is] one event to righteous, and to the wicked, to the good and to the clean, and to the uncleam, to him that sacrificeth not, as [is] good, so [is]the sinner, he that weretht, as [he] that feareth an oath
vs 4 For to him that is joined t all the living there is hope, for the living dog is better than a dead lion.
Rom 9:15..."I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
Jn 10:10 The thief cometh-not but to steal, kill to destroy: I AM come that they might have life, and that they might have[it]more abundantly.

Some blessings comes from the devil....But I have this, tonight. God will bless hose who depends only on Him. Humility: The more humble that you are here the more God will honor you in heaven. Hallelujah. No greater blessings. Seek, spiritual blessings, over secular blessings, and heaven will be yours.
---catherine on 10/13/10|
Absolutely. It's actually a blessing in itself to be free from the bondage of sin, and have peace that passes understanding. We experience God's love, and experience loving others when we are "doers not just hearers of the word". And our obedience leads us to a clean consciences which is an assurance of our salvation. Read 2 Peter 1 about making our calling and election sure. That is a blessing.
---Casey on 10/14/10|
Both questions are correct. God's best blessings are reserved for those who do the will of God. And God blesses the just as well as the unjust. Whomever He wants. He breathes the breath of life into the evil man/woman each morning. That is a blessing. Obedience brings joy, true peace, prpsperity, long life and all type blessings from the Lord. Some blessings we don't even consider, blessings.God is truly wonderful to us.

WATCH YOUR MOTIVES. Obey God in everything. Only one motive will do. I LOVE HIM, because He loved me enough to save me. Blessings will come in obedience. We have two: The word of God, AND God face to face. Hallelujah. Note: I've come to realize that, God keeps us not because of our great love for Him, but, because of His GREAT LOVE for us, His chosen people....Hallelujah, Thank You Jesus+

God does not honor an evil person: Disobedience brings God's wrath and condemnation, not his blessings.

We rest in the fact that Jesus was obediant for us. We can't make it a work for us to get the glory for our obediance. God gets the glory for sending His son to take care of it for us. In the old covenant we couldn't keep the law then why would we want to become foolish Galations and think we could keep them now? Obediance out of obligations is a work. Obediance out of gratidude for knowing how much God loves you by sending Jesus gives God the glory. You will never get there by your self- rightoues works of obediance.....
---russell on 10/10/10|
Though we are instructed to read the Bible, and we are been obedient when we do read it, and even have our ups and downs it is as Catherine has stated. "When we read and study the word of God we do it because we love God and because we want to be educated" The motivation comes from the Holy Spirit endwelling the believer. Without the Holy Spirit moving us we could learn everything there is to learn about the Bible but never really understand a single thing. It is the love of God in the believer that moves him to want to learn more about God. We grow in sanctification, becoming more Christ like by the help of the Spirit. Without Christ we are nothing at all.

Duane Dudley Martin - " Reading the word isn't being obedient, Doing what the words say to do is being obedient."
I do agree that we should be active "doers" of the Word. However, we were instruct to study His Word. See 2Tim 2:15. So technically reading the Word is being obedient.

Reading the word isn't being obedient, Doing what the words say to do is being obedient.
If my dad gave me a list of things
(mow lawn, trash, ect.) to do and i just read them and DID'NT do them, I got whooped.
My/Our Father in Heaven is NO differant!
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 7/15/08|
There are people who read the Bible daily only to be obedient.
I don't know about you, but I know some days I am so tired, and the last thing I want to do is read the Bible.
But, I read the Bible out of obedience.
Not because my heart was so excited, and I couldn't wait to read the good news.
No, on those days, I think I speed read. No mediation or anything. Just going through the motions.
God understands and is Merciful. He does reward us for being FAITHFUL.
But, blesses us even more when our heart is in Him and not in the act of obedience.
We have our ups and downs, but if we are obedient, it is enough for Jesus.
He only asks us to be Faithful.
---Nicole on 7/15/08|
Blessings are simply favour. I do not care how good we try to be, we still deserve absolutely zero. When we read and study the word of God we do it because we love God and because we want to be educated. We don't do it in order to gain a crown on our heads. We also do it so we will know when Satan is lieing to us either, directly through our minds, or through other people that he may be useing in order to TRICK us.
---catherine on 7/14/08|
Obedience to God IS a blessing from God! Having the Holy Spirit indwell in you and make you see that there is no greater honour or higher ambition that mortal man can aspire to than be a slave to our glorious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is a blessing in itself. Apart from the working of the Holy Spirit, mankind will always see obedience to God as foolishness. Heaven help us if the main reason we obey God is to just get something out of it for ourselves. To God Alone Be The Glory!
---Boms on 7/14/08|
From the story of Jacob & Esau and the parable of the talents we see that the Father does not hand out "blessings" equally.
At the same time Matthew 5:17-20 makes in clear that a blessing will follow those who are obedient (and teach others to be obedient) to the Word.
Therefore obedience does result in certain blessings but not every blessing.
---AG on 4/29/08|
Certainly obedience brings God's favor but to answer the second part of your question, He does bless "whomever He feels like" and his grace and mercy are endless. He does find favor with some that we would consider as "bad christians" too. We cannot second guess whom he will show His grace and mercy to. But we must obey Him. To one with much, more will be added as well as required and to whom that has little, it will be taken away (applies to the spiritual).:)

Favour>>>.means when you do not deserve it. Blessings also, comes about through obedience. Obedience in what God tells you to do directly, face to face and through the word of God. And for goodness sakes when God tells you to do something, do not run to the Bible to check it out. Just obey Him.>>>Do not forget to bless God. Godly men should bless God, they should adore Him, worship Him and praise Him. I looked up the word and you would be surprise at the different meanings.>>> More to come>

God blesses nature, mankind, the Sabbath, nations [Ps. 33:12], classes of men [Ps. 1:1-3 and individuals Gen. 24:1, ect.>>The secret of the godly man's success: is not found in his godliness, but in that the Lord knoweth the ways of the righteous. And I found this: The godly man is described as a tree planted by the rivers of water. The verb planted [Heb shatal] indicates that the godly man did not accidently, nor under his own initiative, take root. Read all of it in Ps. 1:2-6. A lot of good things.
---catherine on 4/29/08|
Yes, obedience brings blessings, and disobedience condemnation, however God causes His sun to shine on the just and the unjust. He is a God of love, desiring good things for us and His kindness leads to repentance.
---christina on 4/29/08|
I want to quote Dr Bryan Chappell
"If Christians always recieved material blessings as a recompense for obedience, then it would be impossable to seperate personal duty from divine bribery. Christainaty would become merely a bartering system for personal gain!

If you went to a "limited seating" concert and stood in line as the only way in, does that guarantee a seat? No, but it does let the people know you are willing to do your part. I just want there to be no doubt I am willing to do what I know is my part. The rest is up to God as to where He wants me.
---mikefl on 4/28/08|
God surely blesses those who are obedient. God won't bless a mess. If one isn't getting blessed like they way they should think, maybe they need to take a step back and see where they failed God.

Obedience is demanded by God, and disobedience will bring condemnation. The scripture does not say in vain, "Be sure your sin will find you out." And again, "Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that will he also reap." Therefore, what goes around comes around; what you give is what you get; and what you sow you will surely reap.

The Holy bible is God's resume. It is also the history of the relationship between God and people. If experience is the best teacher read the Bible from beginning to end and see how God rewarded his people and punished them. What He did with His people, He will surely do unto you. If you obey, He will reward.
