Why does one person get healed through prayer and another person not get healed? I know people who have died of cancer and people who have been cured of stage 4 cancer. What is the determining factor?

Did you ever think, it because you have such little faith. That these people die? Will you now be mad at me, because I tell you the truth?

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is far better:

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

God is soverign. I beleive he does and can heal people. I'm tired of all the doctrine and opinions. Only God knows why he heals. We can not state this, unless the Holy Spirit has revealed something about a certain person. I don't believe it is about faith. I was talking to a former pentecostal who now has been a jevoah witness for 15 years, sounded like she had the gift of prophecy. She asked me why are some people claimed their heal, but they really are not. I don't know this question- and what I said I was told by an Apostle/pastor- he said sometimes a person lose their healing, the enemy tries to take it a way. Now this doesn't make sense to me. I feel this time in my life my believes are being challenged even challenging me.

//My best guess is, we are healed according to our faith.//

Do a study on the word healed, and see how it falls off after the 4 gospels, and how much it has to do with faith.
---michael_e on 11/16/10

Some things we will never have the answer to. My best guess is, we are healed according to our faith. Some people ask for healing, but they ask, not believing God can really heal them. I think this stops the flow of the healing. We all have an allotted time here on Earth. When out time is up, its up. Nobody wants to die. But we must one day. This question has many facets to it. Cancer can be caught in time and treated. But if it has spread, the outcome is usually more bleak. Then. God heals who he chooses to heal. Blessings
---Robyn on 11/16/10

Healing was a part of the signs and wonders that Christ used to prove to His chosen people, who he was, their Messiah, promised in prophecy. As you read the apostle Paul's healing powers diminished to nothing.

That doesn't mean God doesn't heal today.
Timothy evidently had a stomach ailment, and Paul didn't heal him, he gave him a remedy for it. The Lord brought him through but no sign of any miraculous healing.

In Africa I have seen God restore to health opportunistic illnesses in those with AIDS but I have never seen anyone healed from the virus itself. God knows why but I can only guess. Is He making a statement about sin and the world needs to listen? There is nothing we can do to gain our freedom from sin, sickness or death but rely on God's mercy. If we saw even a glimpse of the other side of the tapestry, we would have the same attitude as Job. So whether we are healed or not, our faith is in a good and just God who loved us enough to allow His precious Son to suffer on our behalf. As Job said, "Therefore, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes..."
---Pam on 10/14/10

Can I just say one last thing? Thank Since Jesus told people, "Your faith has made you well," do you think Christians are not grasping how healing really works? The power of God must be present in a person to heal, so does God use someone with the GIFT of healing to heal? or can an ordinary person lay hands on someone, pray for them, and are they healed also?

Did you ever hear the saying
Rules for successful business:
1. The customer is always right.
2. When the customer is wrong, refer to rule number one.

Well for God it goes like this
1. God is soverign
2. God heals
3. We all die
4. When in doubt of rule 2 or 3 refer to rule number 1.
---Bruce5656 on 9/22/07

3. With our minds we would never be able to understand all of the work of God for this world. He allows sin to continue, He allows the enemy to continue, He allows sickness to continue, and we know as Christians He will stop it when He is ready to stop it. Satan is not winning anything. He is only an instrument in the hands of God, and what he does is allowed by God for a reason. No one is infinite but God. He is Lord and God of all things.
---lisa on 12/24/06

4. We are to pray, to pray for God's will in our life's. Not ours for we don't know everything that is right and holy. Pray for more faith in Him and His works. pray for the sick and for the poor, and God will accomplish what He see's as right always.
---lisa on 12/24/06

Exzucuh, you and Faith speak so truthly on the matter. God is the Determiner of our life's. Ultimately it is His will that is done. Nothing outside Himself can change that. He is the giver of life and the taker. Our days are numbered and each one with his own time. It doesn't matter how smart anyone is, or how healthy they are, you will meet death when its your turn. There will be miracles in life, but they are what we call providences of God.
---lisa on 12/24/06

2. God will answer prayer, but when He does, it is only for His own purpose and will. It is because He wants to produce more faith, or becuase that persons life still has a mission to perform. Whatever the reason it is in God's hands. No lack of faith or lack of love or lack of any thing within us will stop God from doing what He purposes for our life's. Many do not get healed and they might be under God's chastening power, or to bring faith to others, but there is a reason behind what God does.
---lisa on 12/24/06

you are not reading what I am saying or you do not understand, I said there is no determining Factor but Gods will when it comes to death, if you remember Jesus said Father thy will be done.
We must always be subject to Gods will. If you have done all you know anointed with oil, the laying on of Hands believing Gods word and death still comes it has to be the will of God.
---Exzucuh on 12/23/06

Sometimes we reap what we sow. Sometimes we have a cross to bear. Sometimes we have trials and tribulation. But know this that God works to the good of all things. Keep praying, have faith and trust in him. I see so much sadness and sickness around me. This world is so full of sin. Look at our lifestyles. Is it any wonder that we are sick? God is not mocked. He has given us instructions and we do not heed his words. Therefore we_are_sick.
---Faith on 12/22/06

Because miracles occur only when they are consistent with God's plan for an individual.

Jesus said that He goes to prepare a place for you and that his house is a house of many mansions. You know what they say when Gabriel blows his horn your time is up (Myth)
Ecclesiates says their is a time for everything. A time to live and a time to die

I don't think I'd say a Lack of Faith causes people not to be healed. look at the guy by the pool that Jesus healed. He didn't have faith in Jesus only the pool. the 10 lepers how many came back? if faith is a factor then the lepers that didn't come back to Jesus would have been lepers again, and the man by the pool would have been back on his mat for lack of faith.
---Jared on 12/21/06

Faith is not a factor and it is down right mean to say aomeone has lack of faith because many faithful people arenot healed, I would venture to say that those with much faith aren't miraculsly healed as often because they don't need the miricle to keep their eyes on God.
---Jared on 12/21/06

Exzucuh. No determining factor? That would mean I can have no faith or great faith and it wouldn't make any difference. You can't really believe that can you. When Jesus said "be it done according to your faith" then faith was a determining factor.
When God said "if you will.... then I will" Those are determining factors.
---john on 12/21/06

There is no determining factor, Other than God's will. The fact is can you except his will or believe his word. There are many reasons why people get healed and many reasons why they die.
It is important to be saved so you can have eternal life, there is no death to the saved. But if you can believe the report of God and freely recieve there is no limit to the power of his word. Circumstances can be changed but the kingdom is taken by violence, seek first the kingdom .

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
You must freely receive power or exousia authority to obey this scripture, Jesus operates in dunimus authority but we by permission. It comes by walking in the Spirit or Kingdom and hearing the rhema word whereby you receive Faith to do these things. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the rhema.
---Exzucuh on 12/21/06

I also agree death is not and end but the Hope

Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
---Exzucuh on 12/21/06

God is not a respecter you are right, but that means that he loves all of us equally, like any parent, even those who have bad children love their kids. See Mathew 5:48

He does allow consequence for blatant disobedience as judgment begins in the house of God.

You can be born once and die twice or you can be born twice and die once. I like the front end of his displeasure and no Christian is "fully healed" until they die and become full in the likeness of Jesus.
---Pharisee on 12/20/06

We need to base our faith on what the Word says, not what has happened to so-and-so. This is crucial. We need to get our eyes off circumstances and onto God and His Word.

Another problem is that some people do not understand faith. It's as if they think they can will themselves to have enough faith or somehow decide for themselves that they will have faith. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Faith "comes" (or increases) with the hearing of the Word ... not our will.
---DoryLory on 12/21/06

The book of James says that God gives to all without finding fault BUT a double minded person (one who doubts) should not think he will receive anything from the Lord. It's saying the problem (of not receiving) is with the receiver, not the Giver. God is always willing to heal. When healing does not come it is "we" who do not receive for whatever reason. It is not that God does not give.
---DoryLory on 12/21/06

Just like John said, there can many reasons why some do not get healed. The Bible says that God is the healer. We have to keep our attention on what the Bible says and not on what has happened to some people. God and His Word are absolute. Circumstance is not.
---DoryLory on 12/21/06

Remember Jacob, wounded by God - gained a limp, but learned to walk uprightly.

A friend described the human condition as spiritual autism. God has a path; brings us perfection like Christ; Balance, a view of reality - God is.

Full sober belief in the one and only Father. That's what he cares about most. Add a bag of sins - sin reality multiplies; great reality - God is - dies to us. This is why Salvation is by Faith; only our faith combines his reality with our humanity in Christ's likeness.

I am totally in agreement with Bruce and Pharisee. God is soverign and death is not the end, but a beginning.
---Madison1101 on 12/20/06

I believe that sometimes it's a person's lack of faith. It has nothing to do with God's sovereignty because He is no respector of persons therefore He can't "pick/choose" who He wants healed or not.
---Rickey on 12/20/06

I absolutely agree with JOHN. Never stop believing. Fred Price's wife was healed of a cancer. God completely healed her. She stood on the word. Once prayed for if you don't see any results don't doubt, just keep on confessing the word. Be like Paul in Acts 20:24 & say "none of these things(symptoms) move me". That's fighting the good fight of faith. Don't fight alone. Find some other folks who are willing to stand on the word with you.
---Rickey on 12/20/06

God's "WILL" is His word. In IJohn 5:14-15 He shows that His will is what His word says. 1Peter 2:24, says " were healed".
I believe with all of my heart that it is His will for all to be healed. One hinderance to that is erroneous teachings. Some teach that healing isn't for today or that He only heals who He chooses. That has cut off folks faith to get healed.

I do not know the answer to why, but I can report seeing a healing last night in jail ministry. One of the women who ministers to women prisoners came in with a severe limp. She said the doctor had told her that something was wrong with her spine. We prayed for her by laying on of hands and pleading the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. When she came out of cells she was walking totally free of pain with no visible limp.
---Mima on 12/20/06

I don't think we'll know the answer. but I am sure that it will deal with God's purposes. Maybe one person being healed will glorify him in a greater way where another who dies will glorify God in a greater way. I really dis like when people try to put a factor into healing, faith or hope or prayer, because this puts the failure in the people that are hurting not putting it in God's hands.
---Jared on 12/20/06

For lack of a better answer, God's sovereignty.

As I told one radio preacher who accused me of having a "root of bitterness" after I shared with him about my mother's losing battle with cancer, "There's something about this whole matter of divine healing that God's keeping secret from ALL of us."
---Jack on 12/20/06

Therefore, watch for no man know in what hour I come. It is not my time. My hour has come The flesh profiteth nothing it is the spirit that is quickeneth. Them that which to save their life will lose it.

(I.)"Why does one person get healed through prayer and another person not get healed?" --grace3869,There are some things that God does that we don't know all the reasons for, We simply must Trust Him,His Word, His will for us being prosperous,Trust in His perfect way. For some,disobedience/sin or a lack of lack or true faith/trust in God stand in the way of them receiving from the Lord, But in other cases a person is living right before God, obedient, and still dont get a healing.

(II.)grace3869, My late Dad received a healing for his eyesight, but not his heart and kidney problem, he was a sinner for his whole life, got saved shortly before he died.We know that it is God's will for His people to prosper spiritually, physically, and financially, and We seek Him in faith(using His Word), not doubting, and nothing less. Only God ALWAYS knows the reason why He does things, don't always reveal some things to us,By all means we must NEVER STOP BELIEVING GOD/His Word. God Bless!(3 John 1:2)
---Mrs._Morgan on 12/20/06

I know how you feel. Never stop believeing just because it didn't work last time. Our example is Jesus, not the unhealed person. Here are some determining factors.
Prov. 28:27 Not giving to the poor.
Matt.9:29 Lack of faith.
Matt.6:33. Not seeking God first.
Ps.66:18. Have iniquity in life.
Jer.29:13 Spiritual apathy.
Matt.18:35 Unforgiveness.
James5:14. Need to call elders.
James5:15 Prayers of unbelief.

The will of a loving Father.

Death is not an awful tragedy as so many suppose, at least not for Christians.

We talk about God's will for your life, but it doesn't end with six feet of dirt on top of you. If you read Job again you'll see that the days of a man are numbered.

Death is the natural effect of sin in the body, it's not Satan winning the day and God uses EVERYTHING for good to them who believe.
Notice I didn't say them who work.

GOD's word says it's his will for us to prosper and be in health as our soul prospers, and Christ bore all our sickness on the cross. Everything is under the blood. Faith is all you have to have. But, we will not know the answer to "why" about everything until we see him face to face. Healing, like everything else isn't a "cookie cutter" thing. There isn't a formula. It is GOD's will to be healed.
---Terry on 12/20/06

I still don't understand all of the aspects of healing. I believe all of the scriptures on healing, but right now I'm having horrific spinal pain and people are asking me, "why aren't you healed?" I said, "I prayed and I believed, but I'm still going to the doctors." I don't even know if this is the right thing to do, so I'm asking God questions and studying every person that Jesus healed. He said "YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL." What kind of faith was He talking about?
