I Need To Quit Smoking

I need to quit smoking! I need your prayers. I need them for a long time cause in the past, i've quit for up to 5 years and then started again. I have also quit 3 months and then started back several times. I could also use a good prayer to recite when I get the urge to smoke.

There's so much help out there for alcoholics and drug addicts, including inpatient care and drugs to help to ease off the substance. The smoker gets none of these beside lots of guilt and shame thrown at them. Many started while teenagers to rebel as well as to deal with pain. Two people I know committed suicide shortly after they quit. So the body of Christ needs to stop guilting smoking Christians and treat them with compassion and prayers.

Sometimes just saying a prayer does not do it. If it did I would be 60 pounds lighter(hahaha)Yeah!Yeah! Willpower is very important. You have to see the benefit in quitting also. Why do you want to quit? You must ask yourself these questions. You have to value your health and have a strong and real desire to quit. Along with prayer and you will be successful.

Ro, learn first Corinthians 10:13 and recite it in prayer to God and tell him you believe that promise.

Prayer is our way of escape from temptations, and God has promised that you'll not be tempted beyond what you are able to resist. Remembering this makes it hard not to do our part.

You might also think about your motive for stopping, if it's anything other than glorifying God Bodily you might have left his power out of the process.

1. Most of my now deceased mothers brothers and a sister died of alcohol/smoke related isseus. My mother a smoker died two and a half years ago from CHF, and lung disease.
My Aunt who is the only survivung sibling, has been saved for about two years. 15 years ago she was an alcoholic, and chain smoker. She started drinking and smoking before I was born. One day she got tired of drinking, and asked the Lord to take the taste from her mouth, she never took another drink.

2. Soon after she prayed the same prayer for the smoking , she never smoked again. I know this to be true.
She never said she was saved, and never went to church, but always said she believed in the man above, and that God was a good God. She knew He could do what she could not.
She had faith, and knew where her help came from. I know everyone is different, and I hope this will encourage you, speak it, believe it, and lean on the Lord. Your deliverance is nigh.
You are in my prayers.

A simple heart felt prayer when you get the urge is enough. If you can stop long enough to pray, you also have time to throw the cigarettes away. And when you get the urge to buy more, say the simple prayer and leave the store.

Listen My mom was smoking and she went to church asked the pastor to pray for her so he did. When she went home the same day she had got the urge. But what she did was take the pack she had in her night stand and just brought them to the bathroom and throw them in the toilet and watched them swim around in the water. That was a symbol that the devil tried to win but she defeated him by making him drown. You can do anything that you put your mind to. Trust me I know

If you truly want to give up smoking yuk, u will give it up no problem. If you dont want 2, dont waste others time. Only u can make that decision. I gave up smoking 26 years ago and was a heavey smoker. I wanted 2 give up and so did.REMEMBER, if you want 2 give up, DO IT NOW.

Satan wants us to think of smoking as enjoyable and cigarettes as 'friends'; truth is they isoloate, embarass, control, even kill. Take a deep breath everytime you have an urge; let the cool fresh air satisfy by reminding you of your freedom. I quit smoking cold turkey on Christmas Day 2006 after smoking for 38 years, 20 as an 'enslaved' Christian. I praise God daily for helping me REMAIN FREE ONE DEEP BREATH AT A TIME. With the prayers of Christian friends and God's help I will never take another puff!

Excuse me Mam, it might be wasting your time, but it isn't wasting my time.

Dear Heavenly Father, Master Spirit of the Universe and Creator of all Things, I pray you will lift Ro into your gentle spirit and take away his addiction, all of his desire,(his physical, physcological, and physiological) need to cigerettes, and bring your healing upon him. In Jesus' name. Amen

I suggest fasting for 3 - 7 days. The reason why I suggest that is it will get you closer to God and also will give you a little practice on how to say no to what your body says is necessary.

-Nicotine is an alkaloid addiction. New studies say on a par with heroine another alkaloid. God wants you to fear him. Eccl. 3:14, "..and God doeth it, that men should fear before him." His love is incredible, resist the guilt and shame. He wants us to learn the power of grace wherein we are commanded to grow. Who is the source of freedom? Lu 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Ro - Jesus Christ took your smoking on the Cross. All you have to do is tell Him that you believe that, then confess your smoking as a sin and ask Him to forgive you. You will then be free.

You will only be successful in quitting ONLY N ONLY IF YOU WANT TO STOP. otherwise your efforts are in vain..and a waste of everyone elses time.

In giving up a habit the most important thing to remember is that it is holding you back from blessings. You can only increase so much before you begin making sacrifices, but dont let anybody run you into the ground because a rising temper is just as bad of a habit as a cigerrete.Resist the devil and he will flee from you!

Ro,I tried to quit smoking many times but was only successful when I finally told God,"Lord, I can't do this. If you want me to quit you are going to have to take it away from me because I can't do it." God took all desire while I was sleeping. That was 25 years ago.

A verse I have used a lot is "Get thee behind me,satan. Thou art an offense unto me. Thou savourest not the things that be of God but those that be of men."

Sometimes we try to do things in the strength of our own flesh. We need God to come and deliver us. Cry out to the Lord and ask Father God to deliver you from the chains that bind you. Worship the Lord and you'll be able to "resist the devil" and he will flee. Take every thought captive and when the urge comes, cry out to Father God, "Lord please deliver me from this dirty, filthy habit I have, In Jesus name I pray." Call it what it is and command it to GO in Jesus name.

You will certainly be in my prayers. I have a son, a daughter, and a sister who are all addicted to cigarettes. Please pray for them also. As for scriptures, you might try the 23rd Psalms or the Lord's Prayer, both easy to recite and very calming. May God's healing hand be upon you as you accomplish this difficult task.
