Kelly, God Bless you and Glory to God. Welcome to the family of God! One thing that I would suggest is to find a good Bilble believing Church to attend, definitely stay in Prayer to God everyday, and feed on the Word of God on a daily basis. That is how you grow and mature in the Lord, my friend. It is wonderful to hear a positive testimony like this on CN, instead of all the fighting that goes on in some of these blogs. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Praise the Lord!

Kelly, thank you so much for sharing this. I sometimes wonder if all this debate is really worth it. The Bible studies on this site are a GOOD starting place. Take one verse at a time and break it down as if you were in English class. Get a good Bible, concordance, and Bible dictionary. Find a support group, i.e... a local church.

Know Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

You can study all you like, but if you don't first know him personally even scripture is a dark place.
---Pharisee on 1/4/07

Elder, that's funny.
'Take nothing that man says, study the Word.
But you can write me for answers to any of your questions.'
---Todd on 1/4/07

Kelly: God bless & keep you. I pray God will lead you to a healthy, well-balanced church body of true believers for nurturing & covering (protection) wherein you may continue to grow into His likeness. I concur with Elder's comments, i.e., STUDY ....

Don't get a spiritual "tummyache" trying to ingest too much too soon. Baby Christians are to told to start off with the "milk" of the word. Like any newborn, milk sets the stage for more solid food later. Work up to the cereal and (finally) the meat. Look for a mentor in your church, even ask for one. Set aside a time everyday to pray and read a little from the Word. "Every Day Jesus" is a good devotional for new followers of Christ.

LOOK FOR MORE OF GOD, MORE MORE MORE, read bible emmerse yourself into the presence of God...definately dont become lazy, to many people do

Study, study and study. I always say study to be steady. The Word of God will direct you.
Take nothing that man says but study the Word of God. Everything in your life should be guided by Scripture and that being rightly spoken and divided to the Truth.
Next take the Bible quizzes that are on this site and study the Scripture references.
Last, ask questions. You may ask me any question personal or otherwise at Elder2291 that you may not want public.
God Bless your journey.

Kelly! God loves you and you are His daughter! If you ever feel alone, know that you are not anymore. God's Spirit lives inside you and God's people are your family. All of us who believe are rejoicing over you. Suggestions: try BSF an indepth interdenominational Bible study, give up sin as the Holy Spirit convicts you, seek and give forgiveness, persevere!!!

Praise God, and welcome to the family! You can read the books "Spiritual Discipleship" & "Spiritual Maturity" by J. Oswald Sanders. Also read your Bible. Hopefully these will help.

Congratulations! My advice would be to keep learning about God and Jesus. Pray to God, in Jesus' name for understanding because if you're anything like me (I'm kind of a new Christian too) somethings will be hard to understand. Above all, know that Jesus died for you and you are a precious child of God.

Kelly...Surround yourself with Christian friends whose lives are showing good fruit. Stay in prayer and reading the Word. These are the best things you can do to grow as a Christian.
---Susie on 1/3/07

Find some good Christians to be friends with. Find a good Christian church and get baptized. Pray to the Lord Jesus everyday. Get a KJV of the Bible and read some of it each day, concentrating on the New Testament. You may want to start with the Seed Sower to learn of the 4 different kinds of people who receive the Word of God: Matthew 13:1-23; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:4-15.

(1.)KELLY, PRAISE GOD! Yeah! This is the reason why some Christians stay on these blogs, You really made my day! Just Trust and Obey the Lord, stay in the Word(not just being a hearer of It, but a DOER)(James 1:22)....
---Mrs._Morgan on 1/3/07

(2.)Kelly, .....Always asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, godly wisdom, The Word says He will lead you into ALL Truth(But you must always yield to Him). Study the Sermon on the Mount(Matthew chapter 5,6,7) and (Hebrews 6)for starters, Then go on to receive the promise of the Father, the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. God Bless!

Welcome to the family of God. To grow we need to consume. Consume God in His word and through other brothers and sisters who God will place in your life to help your growth. Going to meetings and not only hearing but sharing your faith will be a great help. Thanks for letting us all know about your decision.

Kelly, get a copybook and start with writing down all of the scriptures that tell you who you are in Christ Jesus. "I am the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus." I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me. I am a Royal Priesthood, a Holy Nation, a people for God's own possession. Then start another section on what the Blood of Jesus has done for you. Study the Fruit of the Spirit and how it's developed in your life. Pray and worship every day.
---Donna9759 on 1/3/07

Kelly, it may be a bit hard for you in the beginning to know what is of God and what is NOT of God. Satan does disguise himself as an angel of light. One way to know it's God is: God lives and moves in His word and everything He does in your life will be backed up by scriptures in His word. If you don't have a peace about it, don't move forward, don't do it. Obey the word at all cost; forgive and you will be forgiven, give and it shall be given unto you, show mercy and you will be shown mercy, etc.,
---Donna9759 on 1/3/07

If you want to grow as a Christian, Take your eyes off of man and what he is doing and saying and listen in your heart for the voice of Jesus, by the Holy Spirit he will guide you, And always remember that it is an honor to suffer for Jesus, there will always be that religious person that is trying to take your Grace and faith and replace it with a doctrine of devils. Jesus sets free and gives power in your life to be a new creature, Learn under people that teach the words of Jesus and the Apostles .

Trust the Bible as the ultimate authority on all things. We are constantly bombarded by many views from tv, radio, and even these blogs that are not always correct. Check what you hear from us and all other sources against the scripture itself for validation. 2 Tim. 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 1 Thess. 5:21 "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."

WELL PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! I'm so thankful to THE LORD for your salvation!!!!!

#1 Follow the prompting of GOd. Everything God will have you do and believe are never in violation to His word; therefore, it is important to be grounded in His word, study to show thyself approved. Thirdly, consider all men liars, everything that comes from the mouth of any man must be in-line with the word of God, and you must go to the bible and check it for yourself.
---Ryan on 1/3/07

#2 Pray for discernment, wisdom and locate a small group of believers that meets regularly bi-weekly, weekly or monthly. Be sure the people you study with are spiritualy mature. The conduct of Spiritualy mature Christians is one of humble, kind, loving, and always living the testimony of the Lord Jesus, through His Holy Spirit. DO NOT MAKE CHRISTIANITY SELF-SERVING!!! Christianity is about being a servant; a servant of the Lord. Seek to be an obedient child. May you grow and mature in the Spirit of GOd.
---Ryan on 1/3/07

#4 Faith without works is dead, so your new nature must be evidenced by good fruit. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit and a good tree cannot produce bad fruit. Your conduct must be in obedience to the Spirit. You must die to self, pick up your cross daily, beat down the flesh, all through the power of the Holy Spirit.

You must produce good fruit the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Partake of the the flesh and blood of Christ; become nourished in Him feasting on all His glory, truth and sanctifying blood.

Kelly:Many will direct your footsteps But the word of God is one in Mat 16 ;17-19The reason is because this church of Jesus is an institution of learning,On how to attain perfection. You have to study work at it & ultimately perfect yourself in it. why? because Jesus said Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect, this is the only way to salvation HIS way.I am glad & happy for you; your daughters need a good grounding too.

First, get yourself a Bible and start to read it. Get involved in a Bible teaching church, that encourages Bible study and evangelism. Find a Women's Bible Study and get involved in that. That is what has helped me.

Praise the Lord and welcome to the family of God.
