Do You Get Discouraged

I know probably none of you ever get discouraged, but when and if you do, how do you pull yourself out of it? Even saying, "Hope thou in God, I shall yet Praise Him" isn't working. Any other suggestions?

Discouragement only lasts as long as you are unsure as to who the battle is with. It says if you recognize the theif then he has to restore what he took. The theif is the devil of course and it is a real battle each day, first to recognize him, and then defeat him. First I forgive the person and go after the puppet master (devil). I realize Jeremiah 29:11 and Proverbs 23:18 are true. So Forgive, bless, and then take the plunder. Read my profile Chery6769 and develop that kind of battle plan for defeating discouragement.

When the word of God fails on you, this means that you still lack of faith..In Jesus time, many have been healed because of their faith.
Faith is believing even without seeing and is a constant hope from God that will sustain you in your situations that all this things shall come to pass

When I speak God's encouraging word, it works.

God instructs us to give him all of our troubles:

"Casting all your cares upon Him for he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7, KJV).

Pour your heart out to Him, and tell Him everything. Nothing will surprise or shock Him, and nothing can ever separate you from His love. (Romans 8:38-39). After you have poured your heart out, leave it there with Him, don't dwell on it anymore. When He says cast, He means to throw it to Him. He didn't say to reel it back in! When you do this, you will be amazed at how light your load is. Rhonda Landry, Glory Gate Publishing and Ministries

Donna9759, from David Jeremiah's Spiritual Warfare sermon:

I read a story once about Satan going out of business, selling all his tools at a diabolical type garage sale. Hate, envy, jealousy, greed - all his tools were spread out on a table to be examined. Off to the side lay a small, wedge-shaped tool that was more expensive than all the rest. When asked why the small tool was the most expensive, Satan replied that the tool was discouragement. He explained that he could use discouragement to pry open a human heart better than any other tool. Once discouragement gets inside, the devil said, all the other tools can do their work.

Seems discouragement has long been considered the main inroad into the human heart for the Devil.
---John_II on 1/26/13

Donna9759, Discouragement is brought about by things that we are trying to accomplish: to run ahead, to win in the flesh, or to save the world ourselves, etc. When discouragement comes, halt:

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God, .., I will be exalted in the earth.

God is in control:

Psalm 37:7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him, do not fret when men succeed in their ways, ....

Settle in your mind that there is no glory for us:

Psalm 115:1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, ....

Yet, rejoice, for we partake in the Lord of Glory:

2 Thess 2:14 .., that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
---John_II on 1/26/13

Donna9759, so as your faith in God increases, so your faith in self - as a contributor to your salvation or a glory-claimer for the perfecting of your soul in any way - decreases, consequently so does discouragement:

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, ....

Acknowledging that the redemptive work is the Lord's, and that you truly realise that you are saved - even when doubt tries to stake a claim - will increase of your mettle:

Hebrews 13:9 .... It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, ....

I say: take heart, sister. Better still:

2 Thess 2:16,17 May our Lord Jesus Christ .., encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

I am discouraged every day. When people rob me, my encouragement is Job 1:21. Naked I came from my mothers womb, and naked I will depart. "brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." (1 Tim 6:7) Romans 8:20 "creation was subjected to frustration." 2 Cor 5:2 "Meanwhile we groan." 2 Cor 5:4 "For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened." Romans 8:26, "the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans." Romans 8:23 "Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly." Romans 8:22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth. John 18:11 Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?

Family, discouraged, blessing in the word of God, or ask the Lord give me a song of praise for him. For He is in the mist of praise, many a song for him has gotten me "up & out " bad emotions! We all have some tears sometime. He dries all my tears away! Love of Jesus!
---ELENA on 1/25/13

Noting I do, nothing i say, no situation is get into can suprise God.
I take pleasure in seeing how God is going to work it out.

In the meanwhile, I have what God has promises to me: Salvation.

In every situation, I remind myself that what I am going through will not cause me to loose my faith in God, and I am also aware that it is at my weakest point that satan will attempt to get me to sin: In those time I remind myself that

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I just let God work all that stuff out, my problems ( as long as it does not involve me getting into sin) are Gods problems

Bro.Trey so true and comforting. The lord does restore our joy.

Many of God's greatest men became discouraged at one time or another: King David, the prophet Elijah, John the Baptist, etc. In every case the answer is God.

If we will draw near to him he will draw near to us. James 4:8
We draw near to God through faith (Heb 7:19).

When David was down he cried unto God:
Ps51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Sin had not taken away his salvation, but it had taken away the joy, but God restored it!

There comes a time, when you got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. It hurts me to get angry, but it hurts more to let someone judge you when they have NOT walked your shoes. We ought to be kind and lift somebody up if you can. If you can not leave them with something possititve. Then just let it go. Don't think it couldn't happen to you or someone close. This lady at church where I used to go she made fun of me. Too! She always got excuses - she got cancer. & then bout 3 months she came to me - ELENA what am I to do? They found b.cancer & I got 3 little kids! My heart went out to her. She take Chemo. She see now it's serious. God help her.
---ELENA on 12/28/12

Beloved, although this lady may or may not be on here. Good we sometimes get discouraged? Ha my answer Yes! a song ELENA loved
"Why should I feel discouraged? Why do the shadows fall? His eye is on the sparrow and I know he is watching me."
That all of us, even the cheery fun loving best of us get discouraged but Defeat is a word I don't use!
Christ is the answer.we got to stick with him, his love can over ride the worst and his blood keeps me from day to day. Love of JESUS!

Part of this is just the human condition. C. S. Lewis (through Screwtape) treats the Law of Undulation and how it affects all facets of human life, including emotional and spiritual life.

This is to be distinguished from reactive depression (being fired, bereaved, or other loss) on the one hand and clincial depression, which is a physical disease, on the other.

Helen 5378===Good advice and a good testimony. And you are so correct. God's true Men and WOMEN, are never, ever to give up. The Devil is saying a whole bunch of JUNK about our LORD AND SAVIOR in these days. We, my friends, need God like never before in our== generation.
---catherine on 2/28/07

I do still become discouraged at times. I have learned though to not give up and push right on through in the tough times. The Lord has let me see that He never changes and He will never let me down. I have learned to trust Him more and more through the hard times.

Donna: I depend on God's word, because if I don't there is no hope. God tells us to stand on his promises and he'd make a way, but we need to stand still. the bible tells us to speak things as tho it already happened. When you wake up in the morning, and you say it is going to be a bad day, chances are it is. Because you spoke that bad day into existance. If you want to have a good day, speak it into existance.
---Rebecca_D on 2/27/07

We are human therefore we get discouraged, but remember this is a mind set that the enemy uses to distort our attention from God. What we must remember for every discouragement there is a purpose there is a plan. Steadfast in his word daily and that discourage will disappear.
---kymbe on 2/27/07

I use to alot. I am a changeing, not by myself. God is really teaching me.

If saying your prayer is not working then you, don't believe what you are saying. Sound like you might need to change your prayer to one of increased faith. Christian's hope is in Christ through faith.

Discouragement is a tool to stop you and to make you doubt yourself and God.Doubt is the opposite of faith. It is a natural part of spiritual life like the dentist is in your physical life. But it teaches and improves perseverance and faith when you hang in there and see God come through for you despite your weaknesses! So when you feel down rejoice He holds your hand and is already lifting you up!
---Martin on 2/2/07

I suppose while we live in this house of clay we are susceptible to certain emotions. I do believe however that being in the company of caring believers, praying and holding firm to the promises of God will help you through your discouragement.
---Careen on 2/2/07

I do not believe being discouraged shows a lack of faith. Facing lifes challenges can be scary, especially if you're uncertain how to cope with them. Seeking answers, and praying for more strength is an excellent way to come through periods of discouragement. Who is strong 100% of the time?
Not me either.
I'm facing tremendous challenges right now, I don't know what to expect, and it's frightning.
---lynet on 1/21/07

I am in constant prayer, becasue I know only God can help me with this. Others are praying as well. We do this because we know we can depend on God. He knows our weaknesses, and is there for us when we need Him.
To never call on Him shows a lack of faith, because we think we can do it all alone.

CONT: I had people from church to come and visit me. Everyone gets discouraged from time to time. that is normal. No one is on top of the mountain 24/7. Even Jesus got discouraged at times. Down in the valley is where I found my strength. If someone is never down in the valley (discouraged) then they can't learn to overcome the situation. Always remember, God will never leave you nor forsake you.

When I had a Nephrostomy tube in my right kidney, I couldn't go to church for a month. I had this tube in for 5 months, then I had my right kidney taken out, plus my husband was in the Police Acadmey. Let me tell you, I was so depressed, I couldn't drive, do my daily chores, play with my children. What helped me the most was reading God's word. I leaned on God, cause when I was weak, he was strong. It was my desire to not give up. CONT;

I lean on jesus.and actually many times he has carried hope lies in the lord.when Iam discouraged I remember his more tears for he shall wipe them all away, only joy and peace and love.thats my distination and my counsel in times of trials and hardship.

When I feel "blue" I like to go to Psalms. I find this book in the bible very calming. I also pray and talk to the Lord and ask Him to help me overcome. It works for me! I hope it works for you too! God bless!

Donna: I am not ashamed to say that I have had some really tough periods of discouragement in the past few months. I have cried out to God in despair at times.

What I do is a combination of things. I pray, and ask prayer warriors to pray as well. I am honest with them about my situation. I also cry a lot. Reading the Psalms has helped me tremendously.
---Madison1101 on 1/17/07

Your discouragement is letting you know that you are not in a place of believing what you are saying. Focus on believing what you are praying for in the name of christ, and you shall have it.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
