Raise Someone From The Dead

I told Father God the other day I wanted to do something fulfilling. Since He didn't ask me what I'd like to do, I suggested He help me raise someone from the dead or heal someone of cancer. Is this too ridiculous of a request for God?

Holly says"I know QUITE a FEW people who prayed over the dead person and the person rose from the dead"Really can you prove that.I have never heard: I have heard of near death experiences?Jesus raised Lazarus after 4 days.that and the centurians Daughter. Many performed miracles in his name curing th esick lame .

I saw my Mom pray for a young man laying beside the road and his friend said he wasn't breathing, dead evidently. She didn't even lay hands on him but stood with her hand outstreched over him,the power of the Holy Ghost flowed through her to the man,his back arched like shocked by electicity and he started breathing, was alive. Mom is just an average lady with way beyond average faith.

Good for you Leslie...
Just Like Jesus Told Peter & the rest of them,
It IS Because of your unbelief!
Their are many Biblical passages like the one that Leslie put in the reply Below...
IT is Because of Your UNbelief.
Take the Sick to your Elders of the Church"That Believes", NO FAKERS, GODS WATCHING & KNOWS YOUR HEART, Anoint their Heads w/oil and
PRAY the PRAYER of FAITH over Them, And they will be Healed, JESUS SAY'S SO...
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 3/6/08

This is NOT a ridiculous request. Jesus said that we will be able to do ALL that He did and GREATER things. Jesus raised the dead and healed people. If Jesus did it, we HAVE the power to do the same. Unfortunitly, this power is what is lacking in the modern day church. God even told people if you see it, you can have it. If you see yourself doing these things, YOU CAN DO THEM.
---Leslie on 3/6/08

John 14:12
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, THE WORKS THAT I DO HE WILL DO ALSO, AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE HE WILL DO, because I go to My Father.

Did Jesus raise people from the dead or not? If He did (which the Bible says He did) then so will we (just as the Bible ALSO
says, in Jesus's own words). In and of himself, man can do nothing, but with God, ALL things are possible, by the power of the Holy Spirit!

The Word of God does not lie.
---Holly4jc on 3/6/08

So Catherine...are you saying that God's power is not the same today as it was in the days of the Bible and that His promises to His followers/believers are no longer valid?
---Holly4jc on 3/6/08

Catherine: So your saying that God is respect of persons? And what he did way back then he isn't doing today? My bible says he changes not and what he done ages ago, he can do the same today. So why are you saying God is different now? Why are you saying that the gifts God gave to people have ceased?
---Rebecca_D on 3/6/08

God does not give anyone the power TODAY to raise the dead. Get real. And watch out for false prophets, who claims to do such miracles.
---catherine on 3/6/08

Catherine: God has given some people the power to raise the dead. God worked through Peter to raise Tabitha from the dead. Jesus sent his disciples out to preach to the lost sheep, to heal the sick, to raise the dead, cast out devils. So yes a person can raise someone from the dead if God wills it.
---Rebecca_D on 3/5/08

MMR Michelle, I honestly have no idea what your talking about. I never blog on a one world church topic. In fact, this is the first time I have blogged in like 2 months at least. I think you have me confused with someone else. I always like what you have to say, I don't disagree with you.
---Michelle on 3/5/08

MMR Michelle, I think the Christianet is confusing us together so I will write with MichelleLS so maybe my post won't be posted with yours and so forth.
Again, I don't have a clue what your talking about regarding the one world church thing. I don't have any jealousy or anything like that towards you because I don't even know you or talk to you. I like what you say because I read your post. I think your right on target.
---MichelleLS. on 3/5/08

In an entire lifetime, I personally only know of one person that ministers in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that was able to raise someone from the dead. That person was clinically dead, left for dead, DOA.

In an hour of crisis, it's not something that happens every day.

MMR Michelle
---Michelle on 3/5/08

I know quite a few people who have prayed over a dead person and the person rose from the dead. Jesus raised people from the dead and He said "greater works then these (meaning His own works) we (His followers) shall do. That includes raising people from the dead...Peter did it, Elijah did and so can we through His power and the Holy Spirit within us. The Bible says that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the grave resides in us...greater is He that is in us than in the world.
---Holly4jc on 3/5/08

If you posed a request to God in this manner, I would have to agree with you.

The Holy Spirit decides what gifts will be given to whom. Without the Holy Spirit, this request would be impossible.
If you do not believe the Holy Spirit is God, and you are looking for personal fulfillment, something fulfilling, it's best to leave this one to someone that has died to self with complete humility.

I've yet to see any miracles follow after pride.

Other Michelle, every time I blog about the One World Church, what is it about those blogs that motivates you to write with my name?

Would you be able to come out of fearful hiding and tell me? You can be delivered from fear, unforgiveness, resentment, and jealousy.

MMR Michelle

Only Jesus has the power to raise someone from the dead. Healings is one of the spiritual gifts. Okey to ask for that one.

I think a miracle like raising someone from the dead requires true compassion. God will use you to raise that person because you love that person with God's love and you want God to help them, if that makes sense.
---Michelle on 3/4/08

Gifts of the Holy Ghost are given to further/enlarge the Kingdom of God and guide His church. Hebrews 2:4 God bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to His own will. You will receive gifts God chooses for you in His plan for your life. No harm in asking ,will only get what God wants you to have. Be satisfied with whatever God gives for our steps are ordered by Him. Why miracles? Don't seek the big, in man's eyes, just seek God.
---Darlene_1 on 3/1/08

yea Matthew, We live by faith not sight.
---CATHERINE on 1/29/07

The only other false prophet to do signs and wonders is the Anti Christ and I guess if your not him then I wouldn't hold your breath waiting. When King David saw that his son was dead he realized despite being a man of God heart there was nothing left to do other than wash his face change his clothes and get on with his life since the boy was dead. I guess when a person dead there's no need for miracles.

Getting souls saved is most important, BUT, you need to remember, we are not responsible for the effectivness of the message, we are only to deliver the message.AFTERALL, it is JESUS who saves.

Teach to those around you by example not DRAMATIC action& even if it should come to pass that your prayer is answered Remain Silent & Thankful lest you forget God did all the work.
---Emcee on 1/26/07

You should have asked God to have you preach the gospel. The salvation of the soul is the most important thing of all, above miracles. Sure a miracle would be nice, but what use is a miracle if a person is not born-again.

---anonymous on 1/25/07

karin - if that is where your level of faith is, believing someone can NEVER as you put it raise someone from the dead, then my heart truly goes out to you. "Oh ye of little faith" is what Jesus would probably say to you. WE ALL KNOW it's GOD who does the healing, that point is mute. WE KNOW it's not us, it's GOD. The point is: Do you have the faith to believe God can use to do something that powerful?

1 Corint 12:1-11 "Now about spiritual gifts, brothers,I do not want you to be ignorant........There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom,....

2) another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. "
---Matthew on 1/23/07

3) These gifts still apply today. To say you will never heal someone with cancer is half true. You can't, only God can but he can and will also do it through those blessed with the gift of healing from the Holy Spirit. As far as ressurection, God is not a liar. (Hebrews 6:2-3) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead,of eternal judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit.
---Matthew on 1/23/07

4) To say well there is no proof of that and so it can't be true is against scripture. (Hebrews 11: 1)1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Atheists claim that since they don't have proof of God there is no God. Please don't ,as a Christian, make the same claim on the Godly gifts of the Spirit.

There is a thin line between pride and humility. Pride says, "Oh, I'm humble Lord. If it by Thy will use a sinner like me to raise the dead." #1 A saint isn't a sinner.
#2 We have the authority to raise the dead.
#3We, believers, have the authority to heal the sick. #4 We have the right do the works/miracles that Jesus did.
---Rickey on 1/22/07

It's not ridiculous to request that of God. As a matter of fact He is going to and fro seeking who He can show Himself strong in. Like in Luke 9.
---Rickey on 1/23/07

Try fullfilling your great commission,"GO into the world and preach the gospel(GOD's words to YOU...YOU will NEVER raise anyone from the dead, nor will you EVER heal someone of cancer, only God does that.Lead some lost soul to Christ..that will change their life forever, THAT is really fullfilling, and that is what He requires of you.

Donna, re your original question above - I find your request exaggerated.

If you truly want to please God, live your day to day life as a good human being. Be good and gentle with your family and friends and praise and pray God daily.

Kindness and Love are true Christian ingredients which will enhance our lives and will please our Creator.

Also, be good to yourself and that's ok, you can eat some chocolates once in a while.

**But since your last blog I want to tell you that I met a woman who prayed for many people after they died and Jesus brought them back.**

I thought you weren't supposed to pray for the dead.

Notice the pray for and not the pray to. Those who pray for the dead pray to God.
---Matthew on 1/22/07

It's important to note there is a big difference in being dead and the stoppage of the heart. After a person's heart stops beating they have at most 4-5 minutes to get blood circulating again by forcing the heart to beat again. After that it is almost always too late and the person is then truly dead. At this point only can resurrection truly take place. For that to happen is against science and is a miracle from God.

You already have the just need to believe that you have the authority...its not a request for God
actually it could even be a request from God to you..."why dont you go and heal someone of cancer"

Keep up the good work and prayers, Donna. Your faith, humility & good heart is a powerful witness. :)

I believe God wants us to talk to Him about the desires of our hearts. How can we bother Him by doing what He said to do? (Ask and keep asking). Raising the dead? Why not? It's not a ridiculous question. I believe God wants us to have the character to carry such an anointing. I walk in what He gives me (opening sinuses during colds/flu) and REJOICE AS THOUGH I were used to raised the dead each time he moves in power and honors prayers. All glory and honor to God. Don't despise the day of small beginnings.

Donna, your question did seem a little odd. That's why I didn't reply to it. But since your last blog I want to tell you that I met a woman who prayed for many people after they died and Jesus brought them back. Another pastor arrived at the hospital after the doctors declared the patient dead, but the pastor didn't know it because they were not in the room. The pastor prayed for him and he woke up. It IS according to your belief. Jesus did say that we would do more than he did. It is possible.

Father, I repent for asking such a stupid question Lord. I know I was having a down day because of the epidural steriod injection into my spine that day. I was having a self-pity party and I was in a dialog with you that reflected that. Father, please forgive me for asking such a ridiculous, stupid question to my brothers and sisters in the Lord. As you can see, they took it as arrogance and I apologize to them also Lord. Thank you Father for forgiving my stupid sins that I commit. In Jesus name I pray.

It has to be in you to work miracles, is there a desire in you to see people whole or to see a miracle, When they said my Son was dead as he lay in an ambulance it was not a miracle I was seeking but the life of My Son, I heard God Speak he said who's report will you believe, I said your report Lord, He said don't even believe a Good report from Man. I layed my hands on My Son's head and said bless him Lord in the Name of Jesus and his Life came in him again. He is a documented Miracle.

We give to others what God has given us.

Jesus spent 30 years preparing for 3 1/2 years of ministry.

Operating in the miraculous does not happen overnight. It takes time.

We have to press into what God has for our life, prepare.

Despise not the day of small beginnings.

God brings the increase.
---Merne on 1/17/07

God has called us to do everything Jesus did and greater. We are called to work miracles. You can contact the International Miracle Institute, and they can help you to accomplish this.
---Leslie on 1/17/07

Humility is not reflected in request. Humans don't raise the dead, or heal cancers. Those are gifts of the Holy Spirit. We can be used by God to operate in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. This would be God's choosing. For you to suggest to God, pick and choose, and in the same breath, "is this too ridiculous?" There's a disconnect, lack of spiritual maturity. Raising the dead, healing cancers is not a job or something you decide to do for a living. It's a call. And God makes the calls.

Every man will be brought low, so that Jesus Christ will be lifted up.

We must not touch God's Glory.

If we do, it leads to downfall. The call of God is a holy call.

It seldom comes without God preparing you. Many called, but few chosen. If you are faithful in the little, God adds the increase.

We must obey God in all He has called us to do.

Get a call from God first, and God will tell us how to operate in that call.

Donna9759: If you want to be God's instrument in raising people from the dead speak the word of God (Scripture) into their lives so that their dead spirits may be regenerated. Walking dead (unsaved) people are everywhere. Desire only to do God's will...
---Leon on 1/17/07

And just what do you mean by "fulfilling", Donna?

Isn't the love of God shed abroad in our hearts in Christ Jesus fulfilment enough for you?

How would it possibly increase your salvation or God's infinite glory for you to work a miracle?

"When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?" Isaiah 1:12

Forgive me, but this aspiration sounds just a little prideful and selfish.
---Jack on 1/17/07

Wait...let me get this straight, you, the pot, told the Potter you wanted to do something fulfilling. Are you telling the Potter His Son and Spirit have not given you fulfillment, what fleshly audacity you've evidenced. And why is it YOU want to raise someone from the dead or cure cancer? For the glory of God? Or your own fleshly FULFILLMENT and glory. Donna9759, you ask why I admonish you so much, this question is a perfect example. Read Romans 9:16.

My first thought is HE has healed me, what is so rediculous about that? God is a healer, a redeemer, a loving Father, and HE healed me of MS and my son of Luekemia in 93. I have since seen many people healed of various things, from mental to physical to emotional hurts and diseases. My gift is healing and restoration. Why would he gift us and call us out, if it were not for today as it was in the days that Jesus walked the earth? God is good...believe and receive his healing touch!
