FOr this one very rare occassion, I agree with Mima. Only I do not know that I would limit it to the bones. After receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, or during an intense prayer session, and sometimes under different occasions, I have felt the fire of the Holy Spirit moving through me and lifting me up spiritually. It is a powerful sensation but does not hurt in any way - and it does feel wonderful.

Yes this is true. Strangely it's not true for everyone who has the Holy Spirit, but it is true that for those who are under the power of the Holy Spirit to witness, to prophesy this "fire in the bones" is literally and truly felt as much as any physical wound. Many pastors experience this. But also many are so cold, in different, and of their own calling that they never experience this "fire in the bones" sensation. The spirit of discernment points this out many times to others.

Many people who have the Holy Spirit have never experienced the Holy Spirit. They have never seen a movement of the Holy Spirit. They have never fell the Holy Spirit moved within them. They have the Holy Spirit on "deposit" so to speak but they never draw on that account. And consequently they are spiritually poorer than they need be.

Jack and Leon are correct. Be careful with
the signs and wonders that you seek. Remember Christ said it is a wicked and perverse generation that seeks signs and wonders.

The Holy Spirit deals with each of us according to our own personalities, background and experience. For example, the inidvidual personality of the author of each of the books of the bible comes through loud and clear. Paul did not write like James who did not write like Luke etc. Yet each was moved on by the Holy Spirit to write His message.

Some people tend to be more practical minded and others tend to be more emotional. That is why, when the Spirit of the Lord moves in people's lives, it is an individual experience. For example, just because Mima can identify with the "fire in the bones" experience does not mean we should all feel that way.

This individuality is evident starting with the conviction one might feel before being saved, how one feels when they get saved and so on. For example, when I was saved, it litteraly felt like a heavy winter coat was lifted from my back. Not everyone will experience something like that. Some may simply have a quiet assurance in their soul their sins are forgiven.

Psalms 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Marie: The only specific Bible mentioning of "fire shut up in my bones" is in Jeremiah 20:10. The verse talks about how the word of God was dealing with (convicting) the prophet. Lamentations 1:13 talks about, "fire into my bones". This statement likewise has to do with being put under God's conviction because of sin.

Regarding your question, I agree with Jack. The Bible doesn't say what it " feels like " when the Holy Spirit come upon a Christian.

This might sound a little strange, but my body will tremble like a chill, that's not the Spirit coming, that's the spirits from lesser loyalties releasing their hold. Sometimes my posture changes and my back cracks too.

I can say this confidently, because it happens a lot when I've gone through a day haphazardly and not had my mind focused. The minute I see Jesus clearly again and in the right Spirit it happens.

Sin can have no hold on the person quickened by the Holy Spirit.
---Pharisee on 1/21/07

I've never heard of fire in the bones, it's definitely a fire to the mind that burns down false notions, brings truth instantly and explains it with the word of God.

I know there's a uniform way the Spirit works in everyone who receives him, but I don't know what is meant by fire in the bones.
---Pharisee on 1/21/07

No, nor will you find that in any passage of the Bible.

OTOH, there's a form of spiritual delusion that feels like a physical heat.
