\\God was a trinitarian addition to the original, which says he,who, which, to justify their doctrine.\\

This is a typical statement used by Arians, Pnevmatomachoi, and other heretics to justify their doctrine.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/24/11

Chris...I understand your need and desire for God to do something for you.

Matthew 7:7 does say, "Ask and it SHALL be given unto you..."

Question...are you "Asking in the sense of begging or questioning"
Or are you "Asking" in the sense of "demanding for something due, owed, or promised"?

Ask in that context is Aiteo & it means "to demand for something due or promised".

God has promised to make your life better(John 10:10)
God has promised to supply your need(Philippians 4:19)
He has promised healing(2nd Peter 2:24, Psalm 103:3)
He has promised, but you must not only get it in your head, but your heart. (Romans 12:2, Joshua 1:8)

Timpthy 3:16, God was a trinitarian addition to the original, which says he,who, which, to justify their doctrine. The focus of that text is the mystery,or better translated secret, of godliness not God becoming flesh. 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.(this is the mystery(secret)of godliness 3:9 having the secret of the faith in a pure conscience, And the rest of the verses you use have nothing to do with Jesus being God but rather the son OF God.
---willa5568 on 5/24/11

willa5568, You blaspheme: For the record stands, Christ is truly Almighty God in the flesh, "And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed in the world, elevated up with glory. This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. One of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. As the scripture says, They will look on him whom they pierced. Also three being who bear witness upon the earth: his Spirit, and his water, and his blood, and the triune his in being." I Tm.3:16+ i jN.5:6+ Jn.19:34,37+ I Jn.5:8.

Chris, I believe God wants to give us something far beyond our temporal life here. I think of Joni Erickson, who in her unhealed body, found In Christ a life that transcends anything we have or don't have here.

Paul prayed three times for healing. Yes, God could certainly have healed him, but God wanted Paul to realize and tap into somehthing he never would have knows or realized if God had healed him.

God wants you to experience His life through you, he wants your mind to be transformed.

God wants MORE for you than you want for yourself.

Eloy //if God desired to disappear he could, and he did, he chose to become sin, and he did, he chose to die on a cross, and he did, he chose to go to his hell, and he did,//

God is not a man that he should lie! If His word says He cannot die but you say He can do it anyways, then you make Him a liar. There are things God cannot do because He said He cannot. I will just have to believe Him, because if He so desires, He doesn't have to be love either(even though that is part of His nature)according to you.

2: 1 John 3:9 he cannot sin,

5: Titus 1:2 God cannot lie,

---Chris what ever you are praying for this condition that exists this very moment. Let me suggest to you that you pray in a different way and that different way would be thanking God for your present condition as it exists right now. While this may sound crazy it is not crazy to recognize the condition as existing and is certainly not crazy to recognizing that the condition can be changed by God. But before I change or adjustment you can express thanks to God for the existing condition at this very moment. I encourage you to try this prayer.

God is ALL MIGHTY, that is ALL POWERFUL: God is not some might nor some power, but ALL, else he would not be God over all.
---Eloy on 5/16/11

Chris, God has already done His part in Christ. Our part is to receive by faith. By His stripe, we were healed (2 Peter 2:24). He has given to us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue (1 Peter 1). If I gave you a Bible and you turned around and asked me to give it to you, I would wonder why you didn't receive it when I gave it. God has given His Son. It's all in Him. You received Him by faith now walk in Him the same way. It is the enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy...then gets you to blame God for all of it. He's called the accuser for a reason.
---Linda on 5/16/11

Chris, what did you do for God yesterday. God is not an open book and God is not a candy store. Are you doing what God tells you to do?
---Scott on 5/16/11

The question was: There is nothing God can't do.
This is NOT true! God seems to have his limit's as what he can and can Not do. I'm living proof of that! I have spent 30 years Begging God to help me, to heal me, to make my life better. I have believed with all my heart he could do this. yet here I sit, 30 yrs later still waiting, and for the most part..wishing to just die to escape this misery I have asked, and begged God to help me with. So yes both the statements: There is nothing God can't do. And Matthew 7:7 Ask and you shall receive are false.
---Chris on 5/15/11

I want you to know, you are correct. There are some things God cannot do, because it goes against him being God.

1. He cannot be tempted with evil (James 1:13)
2. He cannot commit sin because he is Holy (Deut 32:4)
3. He cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
4. He cannot change, in other words he is immutable (Mal. 3:6, Psal. 102:25,26,27).
5. He cannot die (Psal 102:27).
6. He cannot be unjust (Deu 32:4).
7. He cannot be unwise (1 Cor 1:25).
---trey on 10/1/07

It is impossible for God to lie!!!! When a person learns that simple truth he is well on his way to letting God show him His truths.
---Mima on 10/1/07

Christina, that was a great comment. God does give blessings to the sinners. Some sinners live better life's, drive better cars, many never get caught, and many live while in an accident, while driving drunk and killing innocent people. yet they survive. We see so many things they have that other will never have. But our rewards are in Heaven. Our life's are for His glory. Nothing we have here will save our souls but faith in Christ Jesus.
---Lisas on 2/11/07

It's been said God cannot bless sin. I agree, but He can and does bless sinners and I think this distinction is important. He may limit His blessings towards sinners however. He makes His sun to shine on the just and the unjust. His Kindness leads to repentance. His mercy triumphs over justice.

Thank you Daniel for the website, I will check into it later. I really enjoy your teaching Daniel. I hope that you continue to post in matters of different subjects. Your explanation about how to read Scripture was very good and what a Christian has to look out for. You are a blessing to many, even if they don't say it. In my heart I feel you are on line for the glory of God, and not for your own purpose. Keep the good work going brother.

GOD is the absolute meaning of PERFECTION!
Perfection sums up the answer to this question. Why?
Darkness and Evil flee his presence.
GOD is light thus defeating darkness.
GOD is PERFECTION thus defeating the flawes and corrupt ways of Evil!
ALL of creation is his property, and by the splendor of his BRIGHTNESS he will destroy by FIRE all impurites!
For ALL in ALL that is darkness and evil which contain blemishes, HE can not do!
Thus he is PERFECT in everyway imaginable!
---DePuTy on 2/5/07

I believe the only thing God cannot do is "lie."
---Johnny_5 on 2/4/07

Catherine I agree and would like to add he cannot bless sin or disobedience because it goes against his righteousness. He also can't refuse a petition by Satan if he has a point because of this same principle(See blog Does God hear Satan and his minions).God is Almighty and All Powerful but He is restricted by His own character.

He cannot lie ofcourse,BE unjust, unfair, can't save someone when they die if they are unrepentant, cannot be unrighteous, unHOLY, CANNOT WORRY, CANNOT WALK AMONG THE WICKED,cannot be corrupt, cannot be evil, cannot be stupid, cannot be weak, cannot be bought or bribed, cannot be mute. THERE isn't too much here, mostly characteristics.CANNOT ignore SIN, and REBELLIOUSNESS.
---CATHERINE on 2/3/07

Danie(l) I agree with you: I believe that God is ultimately unlimited, but practically limited. He is limited by His own righteousness-can't bless sin.So if I chose to sin even if He wants to bless me He can't.Same with my will:eg God destined me to be a preacher but I refuse-prefer my will.

[1] Eloy: Do YOU or do YOU not AGREE WITH SCRIPTURE, specifically when it says: "God can not ['cannot'; KJV] bee tempted with euill" (James 1:13; Geneva Bible)? Which is no different than saying 'is unable' or 'it is IMPOSSIBLE' for God to be tempted! CLEARLY, for this to be true, you 'can not' say ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE for God to do! [Cont.]
---danie9374 on 2/3/07

Send a Free Memorial Day Ecard

[2] As a matter of fact, that's misinterpreting (if not even misquoting) Scripture! E.g., in Luke 18:27 Jesus said: "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." (Geneva, KJV, NAU, many others!). THAT obviously MEANS things which HUMANS CAN NOT do, God CAN do. It does not say 'God can literally do ANYTHING!' Moving back to Luke 1:37, the "nothing (shall) be impossible" clearly applies to HUMANS who are acting according to God's will, [cont.]
---danie9374 on 2/3/07

[3] because the context is about people and what God can do in THEIR LIVES; as it says "with God" not something solely for or about God Himself! Again, in Matthew and Mark where impossible is used, it's about what people can do "with God"; and Eloy, if you want to say the word 'impossible' is never 'limited' in ANY CONTEXT, then Matthew 17:20's "nothing shall be impossible unto you" would mean that humans could do or be ANYTHING too! [Cont.]
---danie9374 on 2/3/07

[4] CAN I BECOME JUST LIKE GOD, Eloy?! No! I cannot! That's what satan told Eve?! Therefore, it's NOT 'literally true' that NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE for us! The CONTEXT of ALL of SCRIPTURE places limits on these kinds of statements; just as James 1:12-15 and many other passages place moral and 'TRUE TO HIMSELF' limitations on God! I wouldn't expect many kindergartners to understand this, but we are supposed to be adults here (whether 'mature in the faith' or not), Eloy.
---danie9374 on 2/3/07

Getting heated?I agree God is Almighty,All Powerful,All Everything but I am wary to get to technical in my human(restricted)wisdom. What I do know is that God is a gentleman:if I choose to reject Him He backs down, may try to correct me but hardly ever force. If a person prefers wickedness I believe He can change but only if he co-operates."Behold I stand at the door and knock" not "I break down the door"?So both of you have a point, but does it influence the hunger statistics in Africa?

Eloy, so by your definition of "nothing is impossible for God" you are saying that He can stop been God? He can build a rock so big that He cannot move? That He can stop been Omnipotent? Eloy, the context of that passage is that nothing is impossible for God to do for the creation, not to Himself. It just goes to show how you read a passage and missinterpret the passages as you do. You don't have the light Eloy, you are in darkness of what God tells the believer. You need to get it streight.
---lisa on 1/30/07

2. I won't say you need to get saved, because I don't know if you are or not, but somehow you have no illimination from the Holy Spirit and you need to get right with God in order for Him to give you light to see what He is talking about. You say you are right again, well, you are very wrong again.
---lisa on 1/30/07

lisa, I am right again. God is Almighty. "Ah Lord YHWH! note, you have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and stretched out arm, there is nothing too hard for you. With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. For with God nothing will be impossible." Jeremiah 32:17; Matthew 19:26; Luke 1:37.

.lisa, See how the unbelievers bear false witness and say the true believers are wrong; then see how the believers know the truth and are Christlike, but the unbelievers are without.
---Eloy on 1/30/07

Eloy, you are wrong again. God cannot do everything. How you come out with that conclusion is outside of me. Your perfection holds you from learning, which means you cannot be wrong, but you are wrong again and again. First of all God is Omnipotent. What that means is that God holds all power over His creation. No part of creation stands outside the scope of His sovereign control. The reason people say that God can do anything is because they have a false understanding what Omnipotence means.
---lisa on 1/30/07

2. The Bible indicates several things that God cannot do. He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18). He cannot die. He cannot be eternal and created. He cannot act against His nature. He cannot be God and not be God at the same time in the same respect. In the delemma of the rock, the answer is no. God cannot build a rock so big He could not move it. Why? If God ever built such a rock He would be creating something over which He had no power. He would be distroying His own omnipotence.
---lisa on 1/30/07

3. God cannot stop being God; God cannot not be omnipotent. A true understanding of what Omnipotence means will answer the question many have. Eloy.

Thank you Daniel for your post, though many here have such terrible understanding Christ, that He is created, that He is only the Son of God, not God Himself, that He can sin, that He cannot do what He wants cause men can over rule Him, that He is an angel, that Jesus never had to clean a crappy toilet, is the worse one I heard. Make's you wonder how many are really saved, or even how far off course they are.
---lisa on 1/29/07

GOD does nothing Evil. If you read the Bible carefully you will learn that about 80% of the scriptures has to do with Israel. Jesus is Jew, Jew = Israelite. If GOD commanded the Isrealites to kill in order to establish his land, so be it. After all the people that lived in the ancient land of Canaan worshiped Idols. GOD had a lot to be angry about because he is the ONLY TRUE living GOD. The GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, there is no other.

=1= I'm almost bewildered by those who cannot see the error they're propagating here! Alan, Catherine (others?) saying God could sin if He decided to! Hopefully, they've only MISUNDERSTOOD the point of James 1:13? ("Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am being tempted by God'; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.") WHAT they need to be asking themselves is: 'WHAT IS EVIL and SIN?' Isn't that anything contrary to God's Law; [cont.]
---danie9374 on 1/29/07

=2= in effect somthing contrary to God Himself?! So you're saying that God could essentially 'go against Himself!' BUT BEFORE we get into philosophy, 'how do beings sin?' FIRST, they are TEMPTED, then they SIN. We should have quoted James 1:14-15 as well! V. 15 says: "Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death." BUT, look at James 1:13 again Alan and Catherine! It says 'God cannot be tempted!' [Cont.]
---danie9374 on 1/29/07

=3= The Greek literally says: 'God is unable to be [or cannot be] tempted by evil' Therefore, by vv. 14-15, God also wants us to conclude that it is impossible for Him to sin! You can't get there without being tempted! ANYONE: Please comment if you can't understand this. If you still say God could sin, then you've 'fallen for the doubt' that satan put into Eve's mind: That God could possibly be lying about what He's told us.

Verses show that Man has a CHOICE! The word of
God does not say "I will turn them from their evil
and save them". It says that if they against whom God hath
pronounced either benefit or destruction "...turn from their evil..."
or turn to evil, evidenced by " evil in my sight...". Not
only do these verses show that Man has a CHOICE, but also
that God is JUST and MERCIFUL if we return to the cast
ancient paths spoken of in Jeremiah 18:15
---NanaH on 1/25/07

Danie, I'm saying what the word says. God cannot force anyone to get saved. He gave us the free-will to choose. In John 3:16 it required God doing His part(sacrificing His Son) & man doing his part(Romans 10:9-10).
Salvation is a gift, but it's up to the person it's offered to to except it.

[1] Rickey: You're assuming people are free of sin like Adam and Eve, and therefore CAN make a choice! Those who aren't saved, are already lost; not neutral! Who saves us? NOT we ourselves! Read what precedes Romans 10 in Romans 9:18-24: "So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. You will say to me then, 'Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?' On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? [cont.]

[2] The thing molded will not say to the molder, 'Why did you make me like this,' will it? [3] And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles." Of course, to us, it appears as if we're making 'a free choice' when doing so, but no, God prepared us 'beforehand' so no one can boast in how they were wise to choose God; see: Ephesians 2:9-10.

Mary: Here's another one besides 'not being able to lie':
"I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images" (Isaiah 42:8; also cf. with Isaiah 48:11). Yet, what does "the Word" say after becoming Jesus the Christ, in John 17:5? "...the glory which I had with You before the world was"! Since God cannot lie, the Christ must have the same nature as God [the Father].
