See: (John 15:8-10). This is about the pre-ordained fruits/works of the Holy Spirit(Eph.2:8-10), which must be continually evident in ones life, or else one is dead/not IN Christ. Death & Life can't work together in a person at the same time,it's either one or the other. Life is in the Word/Christ, a good tree can't bear bad fruit & vice versa. Christians must have the mind of Christ, these are perilous days, satan is working hard, God said, His WHOLE armor is needed to withstand the enemy.

We are supposed to be trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord.
The fruit is supposed to be the fruit of the Spirit.
Unlike the fig tree, we should bear this fruit out of season as well as in season, when the preaching of the cross is acceptable.
To endure unto the end, or be an overcomer means having this fruit remain unto the end.

Your fruit once you become a Christian are: good things that we do for others, including our families, church etc...Sharing the gospel with others, feeding the hungry, helping the poor and needy, widows, orphans. If we do these things we will be working for the Lord and our fruit will be good and ripe. We will be pleasing to the Lord and whatever we ask in Jesus name, he will give it to us.

It is just those who reject HIM, will be rejected by Him. Those that abide not in Christ in a little time wither and comes to nothing. STAY ON THE VINE. We are the branches.[good characteristics] Doing good WORKS that will be pleasing to God. Without Christ you can do nothing. No great thing.

The fruit comes as we witness and others see our life, and in turn they want what we have, and want Christ in their life,The one we've witnessed to,and chooses Christ becomes the fruit spoken of here. (GENONE)

I read it to mean, spread the word of Jesus Christ to save the lost sheep for the Kingdom of Heaven. In doing so, our prayers will be heard by our Father in Heaven.
