NVB - Hi. Please pray for me. Got a rotten bug and feel yucky.
---Helen_5378 on 1/28/08

Madison 1101 ,thanks for the info and your E address. You had major surgery then, bless your heart. Lapband is suspose to be a lot easier without as many side effects,I hope thats so. Sometimes we are between a rock and a hard place and must pick what will help. I'm about there now. I pray all gets well for you with no more problems in the stomach. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 2/17/07

Darlene: I had a complete gastric bypass, where my stomach was cut into two sections, and then a stoma was put in to bypass the lower part of the stomach, and a lot of my small intestine. If you want more information, feel free to e-mail me. madia3794 I can give you a terrific website where you can blog with other weight loss surgery patients.
---Madison1101 on 2/16/07

Madison, did you have your stomach reduced by cutting or by the Lapband method? I am thinking about having the Lapband done, which I understand is reversable if needed,it's only bandaid surgery, and no cutting the stomach. I just want to seek as much info on it as possible first. Little bit afraid of it,praying for God to lead me. I don't think doctor will operate on my back until I loose weight and I can't exercise much. Thanks for any input. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 2/16/07

Ok Madison, I'm still praying. May the Lord be glorified in your healing. Don't forget to praise Him regularly. He likes that. God bless you abundantly!
---someone on 2/14/07

Poor JohnT. Not only did he have the privilege of teaching at my alma mater back in the decadent seventies, he now gets to encourage me here on the blogs, along with all the rest of the nuts here.

I need prayer. I saw my surgeon about stomach pain, and he is putting me on some medicine in the hopes of making it go away. Everything I eat, which is not much, hurts when it hits my stomach (what is left of it anyway).
---Madison1101 on 2/13/07

EVERYBODY go to the 1st column for the NEW "What's Up" blog! TY!
---NVBarbara on 2/13/07

Barbara, you made me laugh!
---John on 2/13/07

Yes, BarbNV, I will pray for them. How horrible and so sad.
---sue on 2/13/07

Did everyone read about Randal Radic, the california pastor who is now on trial for stealing the church from under the members noses. that is why we should never trust pastors and ministers and only God. it is so sad that many only teach the gospel for material gain.
---Dave on 2/13/07 ANYBODY older than Elder? OK, maybe Methuselah. He won't tell us when his b'day is, nor post a picture, it leads me to wonder! BTW is your profile on here? I like to 'see' who I'm 'talking' to! I just put a new one, I may replace my picture with one of Knothead, he's furrier but takes a much better picture!
---NV_Barbara on 2/13/07

A serious 'what's up'-- A terrible shooting incident in a Mall in Salt Lake City. Please keep the families of the dead, and those in hospitals in your prayers. It started as random shooting by an 18 yr. old, so sad.

---NVBarbara on 2/11/07

I must give God thanks, first that my greatgrandson who had flu, high tempture, and went into convulsions 3 days ago is fine. Next that his 5 year old sister took his hand while he was convulsing and prayed for God to make her brother well. The 5 year old has been told by paternal grandparents that prayer does no good. Praise God her prayers showed faith and our teaching her about Jesus won over evil.
---Darlene_1 on 2/11/07

NVBarb: It's not John's fault I still need to learn from him, I was not a good student in high school. I was too busy partying and being a giddy teenage girl.
---Madison1101 on 2/10/07

That's so cool John T that Madison was your student! God has brought you back together after all these years!
There must be something Madison still needs to learn from you, maybe from a day she was absent! :-) Be kind, we love her!

Madison, should I have used that on you while in my class? You do not come across my radar, but that was such a long time ago, wasn't it.

Yes, she was a student of mine; I was a student teacher then.

JohnT: My ex-husband, whose parents were both teachers in Neshaminy, suggested that kids wear those collars that dogs wear when the owner has the invisible fence, and that teachers have a remote control to zap the kids when they get unruly. Talk about behavior modification. LOL

Of course, every teacher's lounge should be equipped with Prozac vending machines. LOL
---Madison1101 on 2/8/07

Willow: Thanks for the advice, I will have to have some of Elder's coffee next time I get sick.

I appreciate you as well, thanks for the warm wishes.
---Madison1101 on 2/8/07

A colleague once suggested that there should be Haldol bullets, and Haldol guns so the teachers could medicate the unruly, psychotic students whenever necessary.

hope you feel better soon we llove you.
---willow on 2/7/07

Thanks for the prayers and support everyone. JohnT, you are so right about the psych ward. Middle school kids should be sent to a different state till they turn 18. Definitely a locked ward. In fact, I work in a psychiatric hospital part time and the kids there behave better than some of my students, but then, they are properly medicated too. Duh.
---Madison1101 on 2/7/07

Madison, do you forget that many of your students are or almost ASD? They have failed to bond with either parent, so there is no love, no trust, no autonomy.

Survival, at whatever the cost to others, drives them. Plus their adolescent hormones kick in, exacerbating their unstable affect.

Essentially every teacher works in a psych ward environment, and those who teach 7&8 grades should be in a closed ward!

Kidding, but true, unfortunately.

I saw the doctor yesterday and she gave me antibiotics and prednisone for the sinus infection. I feel much better today.

It is so cold, schools were closed in Pittsburgh today and yesterday. BRRRR.

Its almost 60 degrees here right now, but humid. Looks like rain moving in again the next few days. This is Oregon, what can you expect? I miss Vegas weather!
Madison are you feeling better? GBY Sis.

Hi everyone. It is way too cold for me tonight. I also think I am coming down with something. My nose is running and my head hurts, and my stomach is rather sensitive tonight. I feel like I swallowed a rock or something. (Remember, there is not much left of my stomach since my surgery in August.) I sure could use some prayers.

It is so cold here this weekend. My daughter told me that in Michigan it was supposed to go to negative double digits.

Had a good talk with Mom last night about why a murderer can go to heaven if saved. She never heard the story of Saul of Tarsus. Keep praying for her.
---Madison1101 on 2/3/07

There is nothing wrong with striving to excell and make things better, as long as it isn't totally self serving. If no one strived for better, than we would not have doctors, or professors or Presidents.
---John on 2/3/07

There is nothing wrong with striving to better yourself by getting a better job or starting a business. I've had a 40-year career in my field, so now I am going to do what I love to do. The same can be said of being a Christian. We should never be satisfied with the status quo. We should always be growing in the way of the Lord. And, as we grow in the Lord we will love to do the Lord's will.

Hey Nana: I watched the news here in Toronto and I saw that too. scientists here in Toronto have found a cure for cancer, but like everything else, it will remain dormant until many more people die and the liberal left make billions of dollars off the suffering of others. what ever happened to easing the suffering of others that Christ taught in His gospel. food for thought. just another example of greedy, corrupt leaders doing what they want and not listening to the people.
---Dave on 2/1/07

Madison, I'll pray for you too. I know what some trials are like. I believe you love the Lord and with love comes hope, and you have no better one to hope in, than Him.

God Bless, John

Helen: Thanks for asking about the weight, I have lost a total of 62 pounds in five months so far.

Susie, I did not have apnea on sleep studies when I was thinner, so it will probably be alleviated with the weight loss. A lot of weight loss surgery patients are able to eliminate the C-Pap machine altogether after they reach goal weight.
---Madison1101 on 1/30/07

Sup, everybody. I guess I stirred up a hornets nest on some of the other blogs. You have to tell it like it really is. Must be doing my job if so many are getting angry at me for telling the truth.

Sue...Your mother might be getting up very early. Yes, it is normal for some older people to sleep a lot. My grandparents woke up with the sun and went to bed with the sun. They got a lot of sleep in the winter time.

I'm just all excited about my 2 daughters both being pregnant! Found out one baby is a BOY! I need names! And I'm busy still keeping a eye on my mother. Willow, I am curious as to how other pastors would have handled the "bat from hell" incident. This was church #1 on a three church curcuit I preached on Sunday AMs

They were the most sporitually church I ever pastored, and were disappointed that I did not share their thoughts that toilet papering people was something that churches and their pastor can do to others.

You get an idea of their spiritual altitude.

"That woke me up and now we have a new door where I live. It is shaped a lot like a fat guy."

---Kay on 1/29/07

We had a great missionary couple at church last night who are preparing for missionary work in the Carribean, working with pastors all over that area, starting new churches. To be prepared, they will be going to more college classes to learn Spanish before they leave. It was a very motivating service. What we forget is that the people who live in those so-called exotic countries, are actually very poor. If you go a few blocks away from the cruise-ship dock, you will see the real Caribbean.

Watch out for these very harmful things: Sodium (if over 140mg. don't buy it), and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), added it to a lot of foods now. I've found a better alternative to the cariogenic white sugar. It's called erythritol. It comes in granular and powder form. It's usually made from corn starch; an enzyme is added which breaks it down into glucose; then a beehive yeast is added which produces the erythritol; then it is heated to stop the yeast and purified into the natural sweetner erythritol.
