Mirma you ask some pretty good quetions.

My guess if that the Spirit filled person will either turn the non-spirit filled person off. Or more then likely attract the non-spirit filled person to Christ.

Reaction denotes something that is done because of something else. Response, however, denotes an initiator in a relationship. Re-action reminds me of the law that "every action has an equal and opposite reaction." That would be good except for the fact that the fruit of the Spirit, thought opposite the action, is not equal to the beginning action. It is exceedingly abundantly above because it is the result of an intimate relationship with the person of Christ...aka, fruit of the Spirit.

All of the fruit named after Love come out of the love relationship with Christ. Love is the "firstfruit", if you will. Love covers a multitude of sins (steals sins opportunity) and then continues to add to that longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, self-control, etc., all out of the firstfruit. Use the love shed abroad in your heart and God adds.

Gal. 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 meekness, self-control.

Yeah Gef that WAS funny. Have you seen the flash cartoon this one person did using the actual voice track? I thought that was funnier than the real thing. I missed that particular episode but Ive seen little bits of it on Youtube, like when she thinks there's this "smell", (and you can tell its all in her mind,) so she goes out and throws up in the front yard. Ewww!: P

I think how that crazy christian lady on Trading Spouses was acting is a pretty good example.: ) You can see her on Youtube under "god warrior." She was yelling and screaming...basically terrifying her kids and ranting how the other family was into "dark-sided stuff." That was a pretty good, if not scary, reaction. She even tore up her money the other family gave her...crazy.

MikeM...Growing up in the Bible Belt, I met a lot of so-called "Holiness" people who did just what you say. They wore clothes so that their entire body (almost) was covered. Long sleeves. Long hair. I noticed that many of the men also had a habit of telling tall tales. And, several of the young women were pregnant before they were married. Didn't see any holiness there!

Referencing my posts 2/3- Everyone should test the spirit as Paul directed! One idea I have given to others, who tried it with 'success.' As a teen some 'full of the spirit' folk determined/discerned some books we were reading were 'of the devil' So I switched the book covers. I soon learned what they were full of. I offered this and other means of 'discernemnt' to relitives-people I know- and they were 'awakened' as well. Paul was right, test the spirits!

Evidence of the Spirit's filling is the fruit of the Spirit, not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh.

But longsuffering does not mean you put up with error. Jesus was not "P.C" when He twice dumped over the tables in the temple and called the Pharisees sons of snakes and good-looking gravestones. Yet, He and the Spirit are both God. Could it be that we have a skewed view of what it means to be spirit-filled and Christ-like?
---Bulldog on 2/4/07

Yes, there is such a thing as a non-Spirit-filled Christian. Galatians 5:16 says to "Walk IN the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." The Holy Spirit is to flow through you (Galatians 4:6, John 7:38.)

"IN" means engulfed with and surrounded by, and this happens from the inside out. Many have the Spirit welling within but quench him.

Plus, if one is acting in the flesh with its many lusts, you are not filled with the Spirit and need to repent.

I am assuming you are referring to a believer and a unbeliever. IN the case for me it is difficult to relate to an unbeliever. WHAT do I have in common with an unbeliever? ALL most unbelievers want to do is gossip. IF I have an unbeliever over for dinner I often will retire to my room after dinner and commune with JESUS.

Isn't it tragic? The damage these people do is astronomical. It seems there's a competition on who can be the most spiritual? They all miss the point though:love is the greatest gift and love brings the fruit of the Spirit, not other gifts. My advice do what you're led to in spirit, but never make a show:be humble and get Love!

I Judge no one spiritually or otherwise, that is not my place or desire. To know the Holy Spirit is to know the Word from which it flows & the Mind which brought forth the Word. Coming to know Him is a never ending process. I thank the Father for eternal life, which I define as a perpetual continuously inspire existence thru a Divine influence upon the heart. The Spirit filled person is humble, loving & treats others as they themselves would like to be treated.

I grew up in/around pentacostals who used the term 'spirit filled' and 'slain in the spirit' in their meetings. They said I was not proper saved, so I was not 'full of the spirit' like them. Paul said test the spirit, so we teen boys did. I took a tape recorder to a 'spirit' meeting. We boys 'made up stuff,' quoting Shakespeare for the Bible. We got intrepretations, we really found just how 'full of something' they were. Paul was so right. To their dismay I still have the tapes.

In my grandfathers day they had big tent revivals in the midwest. When preachers came to town they would pay the boys .25c to come to the alter and be saved, .50c if they got real emotional. It was called 'priming the pump' getting other townfolk to join in. After a few days the preachers did not need the boys, as lots of townfolk were getting saved, but they had to keep on paying Grandpa and the boys, to keep the boys from heckling the preachers.

We should be very careful:the amount of Holy Spirit one can recieve at the point of salvation is directly linked to the amount of renewal or submission he/she allows.Too much own will/old self=too little holy Spirit=long and difficult growth if any?But yes I agree technically we get it all at once-everything Jesus had and has and promised us.

I agree. A Christian receives the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation. There is no such thing as a non-Spirit Filled Christian. Some do not exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they could.
---Susie on 2/2/07

Hopefully the Christian will simply show love and kindness however needed to the non-Christian. I have never forgotten judgmental people--nor have I ever forgotten the kind and merciful--and with God's help, I'm trying to be the kind and merciful.

Indwelling of the Holy Spirit and Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Charismatics, pentecostals often call themselves "Spirit-Filled".

With a noblesse oblige air, they will say "I'm spirit filled", are you? And the offended will say, who in the world do you think you are?

So forget the noblesse oblige air, love your neighbor as yourself; and you won't have to worry about the reactions.

When I meet a person who is truly a Christian I know in my spirit that they are Christian. As a former Mormon, I also recognize the Mormon spirit when I meet a Mormon. It may seem strange. But, it is definitely a different spirit.

What do you mean by spirit filled?
It sometimes mean the person speaks in tongues.
If that is what you mean, there is the danger that you are allocating some spiritual superiority to that sort of person.

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Your brain is part of your body so "reactions" are brought into subjection to the will of Christ 2Cor 10:5 leaving the Christian purposed and self controlled in the loving will of the Father by the power of the Spirit
---Pharisee on 2/1/07

a spirit filled person should inform them that peace is a product of allowing God to be in control.that life is a matter of trials and suffering ,but that through jesus they have the power to this is based on a person who will listen.not an athiest you wants to argue whether there is a God or not.
---tom2 on 2/1/07

This would be called spiritual snobbery.

All Christians that are born again have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. They are "Spirit filled".

There is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is talked about on many blogs.

A Christian, "Spirit filled" with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, should not treat anyone differently. Your reactions will be Christ-like.

Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.
