Glenn, The righteous are not corrected but the sinner is corrected, and you speak falsehood because there is no light in you.
---Eloy on 2/13/10

2Timothy 3:1-4:5.
Mr. Howard-Brown has a 2Peter 2:1-22, Jude 1:4-16 ministry.
Eloy: you have been corrected multiple times and by several people, and are refusing the Lords discipline, Hebrews 12:6-8. You consistently violate *1 and operate in *2. I believe that Titus 3:10-11 *3 should be applied to you because of your lack of repentance.
*1 Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:28-31, Luke 10:27-28, Romans 13:8-10, 1Thessalonians 5:21-22.
*2 Jeremiah 9:3-8, 1John 3:10-16, 3John 1:9-10, etc.
*3 1Corinthians 11:19, Galatians 1:6-9, 2:4-5, 5:19-21, Jude 1:4-19, 2John 1:10-11.

Many thirsting after God latch onto anything even remotely like water, even though it isn't really. In my case, the fellow probably saw people praying and touching others on the forehead whence they fell over. He tried it, it didn't work, but pushing harder did. He didn't know any better.

Similarly, many marry neglectful or abusive spouses, because they're so thirsty for companionship, they think they have found "the one" because they see some of their good characteristics - while being oblivious of their bad ones.

Some deliberately fake gifts. Evangelist Peter Popov faked the Word of Knowledge with a mentalist trick - his wife asked people about their illnesses, then told him via wireless earpiece.
---StrongAxe on 2/12/10

Glenn, That is your choice to attend "dead churches" which deny the power of God, and that is your choice to dis the "live churches" which accept the power of God, and that is also your choice to blaspheme the manifestations from God. But many dissers have gone down to the grave with dissings upon their lips, and many also have gone down to the grave with glorifying praises upon their lips: and as in life, when each kind stands before the throne, either the soul will have dissings with them or else praises.
---Eloy on 2/12/10

Strongax, I myself have never witnessed any right-hearted person trying to obtain any gift from God to the point of faking receiving it. If a person does this then they are not genuine, and I would equate them with someone who tries to copy the answers to a test off of someone else in the class whom is known to have the right answers. Real Christians do not cheat, nor feign gifts which they have never received, for God's children know that God ois all-knowing and he does not let us get away with any thing at all. He expects truth, righteousness, and real power in the Holy Ghost, and he will not tolerate crap.
---Eloy on 2/12/10

aha, balance and spiritual maturity!

Thank you StrongAxe, thank you.
---larry on 2/12/10

He ministers to the flesh, not the Spirit. He manipulates people, and is soulish, rather than teaches Gods word by Gods will. Mr. Howard-Brown as do most 'word of faith' preachers, believes in putting 'a demand on God', rather than submitting to Him. Acts 17:10-11 vs. Rodney saying "You can't understand what God is doing in these meetings with an analytical mind." The Coming Revival. 1991, pg.6: "I'd rather be in a church where the devil and the flesh are manifesting than in a church where nothing is happening and if the devil manifests, don't worry about that, either. Rejoice, because at least something is happening." Corrupt doctrine!
Acts 26:20, Romans 12:1-2, 2Timothy 2:15, Titus 1:6-16, James 3, 1John 4:1.
---Glenn on 2/11/10

My comment not an attack on any particular person or ministry. I was just pointing out that some people experience genuine manifestations of the Spirit, but others may try too hard to "get the anointing", and display manifestations through fleshly means.

This kind of dilution of God's gifts can happen when there is a lot of social pressure to receive them. For example, some churches teach that you aren't saved until you are filled with the Spirit and speak in tongues. So people who ARE saved are pressured to speak in tongues, and those who can't try very hard to do so to "prove" they are saved.

The speaking in tongues or the laughter becomes more important than the presence of God that inspires it.
---StrongAxe on 2/11/10

Strongax, If the wife was ugly then I could very well imagine saying such a thing...I jest. Stronghax, not all whom minister are frauds, and I judge that all whom mock the Spirit are condemned blasphemers of the Holy Spirit.
---Eloy on 2/11/10

The Spirit can make people speak in tongues. But when tongues becomes the focus, and people feel obliged to speak in tongues, they can "try" too hard, and it becomes a work of the flesh. The same applies to laughing, or being "slain in the spirit" or anything else. (I once remember being prayed over by a new convert who was very zealous but also very naive. He was pressing on my forehead so hard that I could not keep my balance. This was a matter of physics, NOT spirit.)

When people focus on the manifestations rather than the person it becomes a Bad Thing. Imagine inviting your wife into a room and then saying "Now please leave so I can sniff the air and enjoy the smell of your perfume!".
---StrongAxe on 2/11/10

Larry, By this Evangelist people are being set free from demons of depression and other things. And to raise a tongue against anyone whom is doing God's work, I condemn, and my righteousness is the Lord's. "Has any one dared to imprison my servant Abraham says the Lord, for raising a knife to kill his son? And why not, is not killing your son wrong? I myself have commanded him to do so, says the Lord, and therefore none will raise a tongue against him. Now I commanded Rodney to do his ministry: will you raise a tongue against him because it is not right for you that people in bondage fall out of their seats and laugh under my Spirit? Look at the end of my works, says the Lord, and do not be so quick to misjudge.
---Eloy on 2/10/10

Okay Eloy you're looking for a fight and I won't join. We often launch double-barreled reactions that signify everything but an encounter with God.
I did so earlier this week with Donna66 where my response was clearly wrong to a dear christian sister and so I am giving you great deference.

I have seen many a loud and frenzied service but I know words of wisdom are heard in quiet.
I have shunned pastoral theatrics for deeper Moody type teaching but maybe its just my season of somberness.
Read my observations again. I condemned no one and only noted what I heard - a frightning presence and vocal demonic mimicry every bit as real as your encounter.
---larry on 2/10/10

Larry, For a person of the Azusa Street revival, you sure are unknowledgeable of the power of God. Larry, when the Almighty wants to knock his pieces of clay to the ground and mold them and shape them and convert them into whatsoever he chooses, whom are you to misjudge the Holy Spirit of God and his unearthly work in his vessels? And when the soul is done having their encounter with God's almighty glory and they get back up from the ground to go back to their seats or out to their homes, whom are you to misjudge them as acting in the flesh when they were instead surrending up to their God?
---Eloy on 2/9/10

Interesting non-sequitur Eloy, but as a Sunday School teacher of the Church of God in Christ straight out of Azusa Street I don't have reservations about God's presence. I measure all claims, as the noble Bereans, by scripture not experience. Again and again I stated I wasn't being judgemental but raised the same concerns Paul raised to the charistmatic and immature church at Corinth.
The fact remains as I have witnessed for a half century, when you get done shouting, dancing, rolling around on the floor laughing and barking you have to get up and live by faith.
Some change for the moment and others change for life, but I've discerned and seen the enemy run rampant in many of these services. Not all but some.
---larry on 2/9/10

Larry, The dead do not know "Life", "Action", "Love", "Movement", "Yokes broken" "Rebirths", and are quick to misjudge the "Move" of God's Spirit as though the people are drunk. And they would rather sit lifeless and stay hardened against God's presence and recieve nothing from him, and leave God's presence the same way they were when they arrived to his presence. But I guarrantee that if you would lay aside your reservations and open up to God's Spirit of "bells and whistles", you will receive great blessings and regeneration in your personal life, but as long as you stay stodgy and opposed to any touch of God, then you will remain unchanged and receive nothing.
---Eloy on 2/9/10

His messages are pretty basic if you take out the laughter schtick. I think more people feel uncomfortable about the sheep who attend and end up rolling around on the floor laughing and in some cases barking.
A service years ago in Lakeland was kind of scary lacking "biblical" order and there were quite a few counterfeit demonic shrieks evident even on the radio broadcast amid the hours of laughing. Seriously folks, sounds right out of American Werewolf In London.

Without being judgemental I do seek discernment about an entire movement based on a personal vs evangelical experience such as babbling in tongues without interpretation or laughing. The simplicity of the gospel minus bells and whistles still works.

I attended a Rodney Howard-Browne meetinga few years ago. I don't remember his message.

But the laughing...I would not attribute it ALL to the Holy Spirit (though it IS possible to be overcome by laughter in the Holy Spirit). In his meeting, I felt that much was a matter of contagion.

Everyone has experienced an almost uncontrollable impulse to laugh when other people are laughing. Even a baby may laugh when adults around him laugh. And laughter, no matter the source, produces a feeling of well-being.

If his ministry has produced lasting changes for good in some people, that's wonderful. But I wouldn't put too much stock in laughter.
---Donna66 on 2/8/10

Knight C, A-men. One time in Claifornia I was sitting on my sofa, and I sincerely prayed to God for real joy. And as I was praying, God's Spirit made me laugh. This was unbelievable, I had absolutely no control at all over my laughing, because I was in the Spirit of prayer yet he was making me laugh. Then I told him that this is not what I meant, I mean joy that is deep inside of you and not light-hearted laughter. But indeed God is taking me into deeper levels of himself, and into things that no other person has been, and this joy is called satisfaction, the kind which is beyond any price. Thank you Jesus. Also when my God touches me, sometimes I will be overwhelmed and cry in his holiness, for pure unadulterated love indeed is overwhelming.
---Eloy on 2/8/10

The Anointing can not be labelled or boxed. Never have I experience a more true touch from God when in his meetings.
The fruits from his ministry has manifested in my life and THANK GOD for Rodney, the willing servent of God.

Rodney Howard-Browne came to our city last year and not only was I enormously blessed and impressed with him, he reached my teenage son as well. He is unpretentious, approachable, dedicated, and down-to-earth but is very anointed. His goal is to raise up the name of Jesus Christ across America to see Americans living in true freedom and holiness. Thank God for sending Rodney and his wife to us. America needs more like him.
---Kathy on 4/4/09

I have attended many meetings with Pastor Rodney Howard Browne in Tampa Florida. Many lives have been touched by the Holy Spirit through the Great Awakening Tours he conducts in cities across America. Many lives have been changed. God richly bless him.
---Howard_Stein on 2/6/09

One reason you might feel uncomfortable is because God might be trying to warn you. This man's ministry is questionable and controversial. You might want to "google" his name and see for yourself what people are saying about him. There is a book out called"Counterfeit Revival" by Hank Hanegraff that might be interesting to read. You can get a used copy at Amazon. Also, you should take this website's False Teacher's Bible Quiz. It has excellent scripture references that really helped me. Don't feel condemned. God wants us to test everything. We have to be wary of false teachings even if it sounds good, and everyone and his brother believes it! Pray for wisdom, He will give it!
---mary on 1/29/09

Rodney Howard Browne is a very special evangelist that travels the country and sends teams out in the streets of each city to win the lost for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Revival Ministries International believe's:

That true ministry comes from His (Agape) love, without which we have no right to claim ourselves a Christian. That ministry should be directed by the Holy Spirit, therefore: we remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our ministry.

That the Bible is God's Holy Word, verbally and fully inspired and that it is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Rodney Howard Browne and Revival Ministries International are responsible for the Great Awakening Tours across America. This is a powerful tool in the hands of the living God to reach a lost and dying world.

What is The Great Awakening Tour?

The Great Awakening Tour is not just another Christian Conference. This is a radical campaign to REACH a radical generationto impact your community with the life-changing message of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many precious people have been praying for God to touch your city and this nation. We believe that The Great Awakening Tour is an ANSWER to those prayers.

Only Jesus can bring peace and forgiveness and change a life, a family, a neighborhood, a city, and a nation!
---Rick_Van on 11/12/08

I have to agree with the last person that blogged. You are probably uncomfortable because you apparently don't have a real relationship with the living God. I suggest you read the bible, pray and go through the book of Acts, especially the 2nd chapter. This will give you a much better understanding on the move of the Holy Spirit. Dont you think that God decides what he wants to do, or not do? Is he not the creator of the universe? My friend, do yourself a favor and study, study, study. Discipline yourself and get into the word.
---Rick_York on 11/10/08

Over the years, many people have confused the work of the Holy Spirit with being "uncomfortable". Have you ever attended meetings with Rodney Howard Browne in person? Do you have "sin" in your life? Their may be many reasons why you might feel "uncomfortable". The bible is clear when it addresses the move of God. I think you need to open your bible and dig a bit throughout history, then actually attend one of his meetings. This might help change your mind.

when attending Rodneys meetings sometimes there are christians that are hyper spiritual moving in there flesh. They bring an odd presence. Over the years Rodney has been able to recognize that and act accordingly . Sometimes when we feel uncomfortable when men of God speak its because Holy Spirit is warning us about a mistake made or of an incorrect attitude, intent , purpose or spirit. But many times when we feel uncomfortable its because there is something on the inside of us that needs fixing, healing ,delivering of . Dont be afraid seek Gods wisdom and throw yourself into his refining fire! Listen everyone be-careful not to speak against what you dont understand. Wait for God to show you the truth. Blessings! Love each other!

Went to Howard-Browne meetings back in 1994 and God moved incredibly in my life. I came to Christ back in 1983, but God seems more real to me since those 1994 meetings. I learned early in my walk with the Lord that my mind isn't the final source of truth and have learned to trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean NOT on my own understanding. I've learned to acknowledge Him in all my ways to direct my path. God bless!

A bit over 10 years ago, the Lord used his ministry to open my eyes concerning the WoF church I was attending. So, does this man always rightly divide the word, no - no man can. Can/did God use him and his ministry, yes. The Lord set me free from WoF, legalist yuck. Jesus told the disciples, "if they are not against us, they are for us." So, watching your own heart's attitude, speak correction when he's in error, and then let God handle him. God's much better at it anyway.
---daphn8897 on 2/19/08

.shaunT, I see zero harm in Rodney's preaching, and on the contrary, I see the disease of depression and the spirit of melancholy being driven out from among God's people. God has commanded Rodney to spread cheer among the body, but the Accuser of the brothers as you are, will mock what they have no part of. What are you yourself doing for the kingdom, besides dissing the evangelists of God?
---Eloy on 2/19/08

I am guessing that you have never been in one of Rodney Howard-Browne's meetings. The way that you would feel uncomfortable is if you were not living for the Lord. I have never in my life felt God like I do in his meetings. The signs and wonders that take place are undescribable. When I get touched in a meeting, I do not care what anyone thinks, I just know that it was the very presence of God. Instead of saying he is a false teacher, get into one of his meetings, and speak again.
---nicole on 2/18/08

Eloy - Perhaps you did not read my post clearly. Where pray tell did I say laughing was wrong? Where did I say laughter was not a blessed thing? I rather spoke to a false teacher who is making a mockery of the things of God. A man who thinks he can pour out the Spirit like a bartender does a glass a beer. A man who like the other TBN wolves is devouring widows homes so he can live a lavish life. This is blasphemy as is being "drunk" in the so called spirit.

#2 Laugh I do, but as I grow in Jesus and see the sin in the church my heart grows heavier where I'd rather be wise than a fool.

"It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men, and the living will lay it to his heart. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth." (Ecc 7:2-4)
---ShaunT on 2/15/08

#3 - The Lord likewise gives ample warning to the fools who dwell in the house of mirth.

"Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep." (Lk 6:25)

Choose rather to be blessed and forsake Rodney Brown and the house of fools brethren:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (Mat 5:3-4)

.shaunT, how long ago has it been since you yourself laughed? a day ago, a week, a month, a year, five years ago, never? No wonder you don't like it. And so instead of happiness, you would rather want every body else to be miserable just like you. The word of God SAIDS ," that when you are under the influence of the Holy spirit, you can make all kinds of judgments, but you cannot be judged by no man. Also look at 1 corin. 6-2. Saints shall judge the world. The bottom line is this. IF one christian shall rebuke another christian== pray first. THEN MAKE IT SWEET AND SHORT.

Thank you Susie and Catherine. This word 'anointed' does not mean the same thing to all people I believe and I feel that it is used very glibly by some preachers. They announce that they are anointed but that, in itself, does not mean that it is God who has anointed them. They then use that verse to say "You must not criticize me because I am speaking with God's authority" when, quite often, they are not. It can be a very 'handy' verse to use to keep their followers (and the cash flowing).
