If you win who gets the glory????
---Susie on 3/9/08

Yes, gambling is wrong...period. There are no small sins. Sin is sin in the sight of God. Are you saved?
If you are a saved person you should be witnessing to these people and not giving in to their sin. Where is your light? You have lost your focus and are caught up in the things of this world. You are in a dangerous spot. Repent.

Most employers I know don't allow gambling at work not even at lunch or breaks. Sounds like a good way to lose your job.

LOL Barb...Got ya!!!!

NOOOOOOOO Susie! Some powerful and all 'normal' size, nothing 'baby' about them, and ever so much classier than American "Hawgs!" (No offence to Harley owners!)
---NVBarbara on 2/16/07

Oh! Motorcycles! You mean like little baby Harleys?

Emcee, my Grandma had two Hudsons that she drove. They were beauts.

We have several 'blokes' in our group MC, some of them pretty cheeky! One actually worked in the NORTON factory in the 60's and 70's. Did you ever ride bikes? I LOVE IT!
---NVBarbara on 2/16/07

Susie::If you dont mind me Interrupting A british Bike is like a british Bloke made in England.if you want to know whats a bloke its a chappie,Please dont ask me whats a chappie, cause I'll blush, its a thing that walks on 2 legs like in the states you call a GUY made in USA.Hope that helps male of course-homosapiens,species.I"ll have to refer this to my HUD_son!!I am not trying to be funny.A bike is a 2wheeler without training wheels. If you want to throw something at me you have my permission.!!
---Emcee on 2/15/07

Susie, a British bike is made in England. Most of the group have 'classic' bikes that are not made anymore. Personally I have a 1973 Norton Commando, and a '72 Norton Interstate. I also have a rare '66 Phelon-Moore w/sidecar that stays in storage in S.C. I didn't want to bring it out West when I moved. I have someone who checks it and gives it a start now and then.
---NVBarbara on 2/15/07

Barb...I just gotta ask. What's a British bike? Are they made different than American bikes?
---Susie on 2/15/07

alanUKquent64534 - you're confusing gambling which is a sin in God's eyes with a HOBBY - a model train club is a HOBBY- NOT A SIN.

There's a big difference between gambling and a model train club. One is sin, the other is a hobby. This is another example of how someone, instead of answering the question, attacks another person's answer. WHy do we do this? Alan? Any ideas why you felt a need to confuse sin with a hobby?
---donna6598 on 2/15/07

I see nothing wrong with having a hobby, NOT gambling..gardening, painting, playing an instrument etc. I join with a group who ride British bikes, we get together and eat once a week and go on group rides during nice weather, good fellowship and fun. Nothing wrong with that!

Donna ... I abhor gambling, but do you really mean "Anything of the world NOT of God and God does not bless or approve it"?
Did God not make the world?
For example, those who belong to a model train club ... that is a thing of the world, although God gave the brains to create the things ... Would you condemn them?
---alanUKquent64534 on 2/14/07

Can I ask? When do you have time to play cards at work? On your lunch hour? Anything of the world, i.e., gambling is NOT of God and God does not bless or approve it. "Come out from amoung them and be ye separate says the Lord." Instead of cards, why not play Bible Trivia? How much time do you spend playing cards at work every day?

Since we lived and ministered in Vegas for many years, I can tell you first hand of countless horror stories about gambling. I just noticed that Jamea said that they gamble EVERY DAY at work. The gambling probably doesn't stop there. Lottery tickets, sports betting, etc. It's a waste of time and money. We are to be good stewards of what God has provided us.

For every winner there are several (sometimes many) losers. I cannot think of any scripture that speaks on this one way or the other but the principle of gambling (however small) does not seem Christ-like. It is up to you to seek God's will on this.

Do you feel convicted when you gamble? This is between you and God.
---lynet on 2/13/07

Gambling is a sin. Small or big sin is a sin. And that is an idol. Avoid idols that separate you from the love of God. We have only one soul so why gamble your soul? Everyone is created by God. Choose life with God our Creator. Avoid idolatry, avoid gambling.

It would depend on the person, as someone said we should not desire money, so when you gamble b/c you desire money its bad...i do enjoy hanging out w/ friends while playing poker, i do not desire the money i enjoy the hanging out part

No, not at that stage, but gambling can become addictive and then it is a social issue. When the urge to gamble prevents you from meeting your responsibilities to your family and God then it becomes a religious issue. It is like alcohol, when you can't control the urge to drink it is time to stop doing it. But it is like many thing, if you just don't do it to start with it can't become a problem later.
---notlaw99 on 2/13/07

Gambling is not acceptable to God because a Godly man is not suppose to desire money. He is from above and desires heavenly things, an earthly man desires earthly things
---anonymous on 2/13/07

That is between you and God alone. You will get alot of answers here stating how wrong it is and how you shouldn't do it. Which in turn will get a real long drug out agruement. You need to seek God on this subject, and if you feel within your heart it is wrong, then stop doing this. But this is no different than buying a raffle ticket from a school.
