I don't think God has a single view about V-day. It's what you do with that day that counts to Him. If you use it to glorify Him like Christians should then He will be pleased. (But then everyday should be lived that way regardless) Being a Christian is to have a personal relationship with God, it's not about the masses, it's about you and Him.

** Trying to figure God out is a big, big, waist of time, better spent would be, to just love Him. And I do believe, that God delights in keeping His people, guessing.**

Well put, Catherine.

One of the things I've learned is that God seldom does quite what you think He's going to do, and He NEVER does what you think He's supposed to do.

Valentine's Day was started by a Christian who preached God's love and became a marter for that preaching. God is love. Jesus loved us so much that He died for us. We as Christians are called to love one another. God is calling us to give Him our hearts.

A belated Happy Valentine's Day, and Happy Birthday mima! Again.

Jack...Yep! I already met a lot of them. Most of them just hear him talking to them all the time. I guess if we never attend church, don't ever read the Bible, and sit around the house all day with nothing to do we will start hearing voices pretty quick ourselves.

I guess what people spend their hard earned cash on is really their own business, as long as a man/woman takes care of God's business, their own business then we should take care of our own and leave others to exactly what they choose to spend their money on, No harm done just another physical display of how much someones loved, If taken away do you think God's house would be any fuller?
---Carla5754 on 2/15/07

You are correct. Trying to figure God out is a big, big, waist of time, better spent would be, to just love Him. And I do believe, that God delights in keeping His people, guessing. He does a great job in doing it, "I can say that much."

** I have never met anyone who can read God's mind. **

I've met several people on these blogs who claim to be able to read God's mind.

Be patient. You'll meet them soon enough.

In no way can we assume Gods thoughts, but Valentines day is just another man made holiday. We waste money on buying things and it's slowly becoming commercialised just like Christmas. We should be displaying love to each other every day, making our loved ones feel appreciated. If we did that, Valentines day would be void.
---CactusFreek on 2/14/07

If something like a holiday creates a programmed response in you then that's what you should search out.

Not everyone calls it Valentines day, it's just another day with our Lord.
---Pharisee on 2/14/07

None that I am aware of. Why should He? I am Christian and try to show love everyday but I find Valentine's day a lot of fun and I fully participate in it. With or without a man but I have been married over 25 years.
Enjoy your day. Blessings.

Google "Saint Valentine Day - Feb. 14th".

Valentine's Day is not in the Bible. It has roots in history/religion.

Humans and pets celebrate it. I think it takes on an edge of weirdness when we talk about making God our Valentine.

In Proverbs, "Every man is a friend to one who gives gifts." It's man's tradition.

God's looking to and fro around the world, He stays up all night long. God's view is above our view, and His thoughts are above our thoughts.
---Cindy on 2/14/07

What made you think He had a view one way or the other?
---Jack on 2/14/07

The Bible does not tell us God's view on Valentine's Day because it did not exist then. I would believe, and I am guessing here now, that since love is such an integral part of the New Testament, see 1 Corinthians 13, and a few other verses, that it is not disapproved of. Again, just my theory based on scriptures.
---Madison1101 on 2/14/07

There's no scripture references on Valentine's day, thus God has no view on a man-made holiday. It makes those of us who are going through painful times feel even more lonely than we already do. But thank God that "The Joy of the Lord is our Strength."
