Did you miss mentioning something on this "salvation package" you presented? Seems to me like a package for a man that lives and will live his days in a cave by him/herself. Golden Rule? James 5:16, John 13:35, Colossians 3:9,13, Ephesians 4:32, Matthew 6:15?

#1 Scripture tells us that we were crucified with Christ. What does that mean? It means that all our sins past, present and future were nailed to the Cross with Christ. Jesus paid the penalty for all our transgressions no matter when they are committed. This salvation package, that was agreed upon by the God Head before the foundation of the earth (that is before man was ever created), is offered to every human being.

#2 It is offered to whomsoever will believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Upon believing, all these wonderful provisions are yours. You never need to ask forgiveness for anything again. What we all need to do when we sin in the flesh, fail, fall into temptation, etc, is confess it all to Christ. He is the One who is responsible for us now and He is the One who has defeated all things for us and He is the One who can change us, cleanse us and deliver us from all of our failures and flesh desires.

#3 Remember, God is not a big bad God who is standing over us with a club just waiting for one of us to do wrong. He is a loving Father who loves each of us as if we were His only child. He wants us to reverance Him because He is God, but we have nothing to fear from Him because He loves us. Romans 8:31-34

I agree with the other posters who said that a Christian does not need to keep asking forgiveness...for the same sins of the past. Once your slate is wiped clean by the blood of the Lamb, there's nothing to ask forgiveness for. But think we should always ask forgiveness for our daily failures, as no one is perfect and we all slip-up. In regards to church, the Bible is clear that God's will is that we attend community worship...but that's between you and God and not for us to judge. Good luck :-)

I think what we have here is a case of spiritual immaturity. I see a desire to repent(good) and alot of guilt(bad) Read your bible daily and maybe a book on doctrine to go with it.LIGHTEN UP!!!!!! Gods not after you, pray to him with all your heart and he will show you what you need and where you should go.

Why would a Christian ask to be forgiven of sin? A true christian believes in the work of the Cross. Christians ARE always forgiven.
---duane on 5/23/08

You don't have to ask for forgiveness daily. The bible says that you are the righteousness of God in Christ.(2Corinthians 5:21) You have a right to be forgiven. As a matter of fact, when you confess your sin God forgets it.(Isaiah 43:25-26; Micah 7:19; 1John 1:9) So don't keep asking for forgiveness, just take what He already gave you. It is a must for christians to go to church to grow.

We do need the fellowship of other believers in our lives, because we are 1 body of believers IN CHRIST. We worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, together. I do know that when you are backslidden, you are totally miserable(been there done that). But oh, what Peace and joy we have when we are in His presence and have loving fellowship with our Heavenly Father.

You can't walk in Christ's will for your life in part.
The church is to be your blessing and a source of spiritual protection.
God's absolute best for your life involves corporate worship.

Psalm 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Catherine may be on to something. I remember there were times when I did not attend church and I was very close to God. I'm not saying not to go to church, but remember that there are a lot of people that go to church regularly, that are not saved. This will all be sorted out on judgement day.
---John on 3/21/07

There is a scripture that warns not to commune with unbelievers. If you have ever truly been saved, when you backslide, you will be the most miserable, torturous, person alive, "so you think." Going to church is not a sign that you are saved,no more so, than staying away from church is a sign that you have backslidden. [Too many people butt in.] There is always a scripture if you take time to find it. Listening to people, instead of God can kill you. 2 Corin. 6- 11-18.

Kimberlee: you asked a good question. We need to pray, study the scriptures, repent of things displeasing in God's eyes daily. we learn about the bible by enjoying fellowship and support by others who are trying to learn about the Savior. we can deprive ourselves of that blessing, we have our freedom of choice. I know many who are sick, etc that cannot attend church or have spouses that do not allow it. follow your heart. live by faith and do what you believe is right and you will succeed in your goals.
---Dave on 2/16/07

When someone gets saved, God puts a desire in their heart to want to go to church. A saved person would want to fellowship with other Christians.
---Rebecca_D on 2/16/07

Why would you ask to be forgiven? As a christian, you are forgiven always. We as humans will always sin but thank God its not counted against us...we are free indeed, now enjoy your freedom and thank HIM that you are forgiven

The question should be: Why are you not attending church?

One of the heresies of pop-evangelicalism/Christianity Lite is that once one is "saved" s/he becomes a spiritual Lone Ranger with Jesus (just who is the sidekick is never clear) and doesn't need to be part of a local body.
---Jack on 2/16/07

If a person continually asks for forgiveness of the same sin they are doing what Hosea 4:6 says; destroyed(cut off) for lack of knowledge. They aren't understanding that Jesus paid for our forgiveness. We have a right, in Christ, to confess our sin & be forgiven. We don't have to do it over and over again. To ask several times for forgiveness of one sin is to say Jesus didn't do His job.
---Rickey on 2/16/07

kimberlynn-God looks upon the heart. What's inside your heart? Do you love Jesus? Do you love Father God with all of your heart and soul? Do you sing praises unto God during the day and spend time with him? The bible says, "Don't forsake the gathering of the brethren." Do you fellowship with other Christians? You are not backslidden.

It's not my place to judge but Noah, his wife, sons and their wives assembled together to not be destroyed with the ungodly. The children of Israel assembled to hear God's word from the mount. Esther assembled with the gathering of virgins (church)to be a queen when Vashti refused.

As an heir of God you aren't supposed to "beg" for forgiveness. NOWHERE in the bible does it say beg for forgiveness. In 1John 1:9 it says confess, or confess up to, your sin. To keep asking for forgiveness of the same sin is like saying Christ didn't do a good enough job on the cross.
---Rickey on 2/16/07

Last time I checked, the prayer which Jesus gave as an example to the Disciples included a phrase about "forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us." Some would ignore what Jesus has said. Others take it to heart and ask God's forgiveness EVERY day. I'd rather be right with God than man.
---Susie on 2/16/07

Praying for any true Born-Again Believer should be like breathing. Now on Righteousness==It shows Men that God is neither indifferent to Sin nor regards it lightly.[Must find expression in His condemnation of SIN.]-- I have one questian. Where in the world would a true God-fearing Man or WOMAN of God get this notion, that you do not have to ask, oh excuse me, beg God to forgive them or me of our Sins constantly? -PLEASE.
