Discernment Of God's Anointed

In this era of phony ministers, a multitude of denominations and widespread disunity, how do we detect if our pastor is anointed from God or not?

Jesus said to his disciples "If anyone is not against us he is for us."If he says relevant stuff then he is okay.I believe that if you really read scripture you will be able to discern whether the pastor is really anointed. Also pray that you may get the spirit of discernment from above.

Does the ministry strongly support missions, evangelism and is true repentance still taught and practiced by the leaders???

Jesus put the anointing all His followers then and to be in His final words "The Great Commission" and everything He taught us lined up with His final words.

He also warned us about many false teachers and impostors who come in His name.

He who has ears....

Tim I agree with Donna concerning your spirit bearing witness with pastor's spirit.
---Mima on 3/19/07

Tim, here is how you can "detect" if your Pastor is anointed man of God.
If you yourself are filled with the truth, the word of God, Jesus said, "When the Holy Spirit comes, He will guide you into all truth." So if you are filled with the truth of God's word, then your spirit will bear witness that your Pastor is speaking truth if he is preaching God's word. If he is preaching what Jesus preached, what Paul preached, what Peter wrote, what's in the gospels, etc., Make sense?

She's preaching to us now, and the walls are paper thin.
Her votes are going up, up, up.
I think people like unpretentious, preaching.
I've watched her posts evolve in a month's time.
I also think people like someone with a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and a love for the Father, God.
She expresses that love very well. It is preferred over bitterness.

** She is one out of 100 that is saved.**

And how does she know that? Because she says she is?

She says she has stayed away from church for three years (I'll bet everyone heaved a sigh of relief, too) and preaches to the walls. Have any of her walls gotten saved yet?
---Jack on 3/19/07

Jack, I think that's exactly what she means. She is one out of 100 that is saved.
Who knows, she could be right. Think about all those TV pop rock stars. Remember how Teddy H. blindsighted many. All the religious cults have unsaved preachers. God knows. There are all kinds and types of fallen preachers, some have preyed on children, women, or the same gender. Teddy says he's cured after a 3 week rehab. Maybe so. Many are in the pen and some have not been caught.

Well... I got that wrong!
I've now seen Catherine say a similar thing on other blogs and she certainly means only one in 100 preachers are saved.
I don't know where she got that statistic from. How do you tell whether a preacher is saved?
---alan_of_UK on 3/17/07

Catherine was accurate in what she said. The Savior said in Matt that the road is narrow and few will find the gate that leads back to God, but the road is wide and broad is the gate that leads to damnation and many will walk that road. christians included. Many will say Lord Lord have we not done thy work and they will be cast out. why? because they believed false doctrines of man and not God. you cannot serve two masters. the Holy Ghost reveals all truth to our spirits, not men, regardless who they are.

**Jack, Jack, don't be so onery.
Cut Catherine some slack, will you.
We all know in part. So her ways are not your ways. An intellectual like yourself can see things, knows things, hears things.**

What slack is she to be cut? SHE said that only 1 about 100 preachers were saved; SHE said that she's a preacher; therefore BY HER OWN WORDS she has only one chance in 100 of being saved.
---Jack on 3/16/07

Jack.....Without the Bible which is the inspired word of God, there is nothing to preach. It is the guideline for our lives. The Holy Spirit will also give us words to preach. But, anyone who tries to preach without ever using the Word of God would be foolish. I attended a service once where the guest minister picked up the Bible and said, "Well, I guess I better read something from this for those who think we have to use it." He was a clown, not a preacher.
---Susie on 3/16/07

Jack...I hoped you were being funny. But, I figure you were not. Do you live your life exactly like Jesus and the disciples did?
---Susie on 3/16/07

Jack ... I think Catherine was saying that only one out of 100 "Christians" are really saved, and they are the ones who are called to preach. That would mean that since she preached to walls, she must be saved.
But her hypothesis is surely wrong. Did not Paul say that different people are called to different tasks?
---alan_of_UK on 3/16/07

Thanks for the feedback.

All good responses!

Yet I like the points Susie made most. Many Pastors these days seem to fall under the category of points 5, 6 and 7.
However I think that phony pastors use the Bible also but they pick out the parts that give them the results they are seeking.

I also sense that there is much false discernment out there or else people would dethrone these false teachers in an instant.

We need the Evangelists preaching repentance to come back!
---Tim on 3/16/07

Jack, Jack, don't be so onery.
Cut Catherine some slack, will you.
We all know in part. So her ways are not your ways. An intellectual like yourself can see things, knows things, hears things.
Aren't you glad we're not cookie cutter replicas.
Catherine is sweet, leave her alone.
What difference does it make, she blogs her heart out here. Literally. She's sincere in her beliefs and I like her honest approach.
When she loves certain people her, she tells them so. I like it.

** He never opens the Bible when he preaches.**

1. Give book, chapter, and verse where the Bible says one must open a Bible to preach.

2. Give book, chapter, and verse where St. Paul opend the Bible to preach.

3. Give book, chapter, and verse where the Bible uses the word "Bible" in any context whatsoever.

** About one out of 100 are truly saved, called by God to preach. That should give you a clue. It is a real problem.**

How did you reach this statistic, catherine?

When and how did God give you the gift of seeing into other people's hearts to determine who is saved and who isn't? It must be a TERRIBLE burden to bear.
---Jack on 3/16/07

Part 2:

And finally, catherine, how do we know, since you once claimed to be a preacher (you said on these blogs you preach to the walls) that YOU are really saved? According to your own standards, there is only 1 chance out of 100 that you are.
---Jack on 3/16/07

Some clues the pastor is not anointed:

1. He never opens the Bible when he preaches.

2. He says that he has a new revelation from the Lord.

3. He lives a different life during the week than he does on Sunday.

4. His children and wife are afraid of him.

5. He spends too much time talking to one person every service.

6. He won't listen to your thoughts and if you try to give him constructive criticism he won't listen.

7. He doesn't return your calls.
---Susie on 3/16/07

About one out of 100 are truly saved, called by God to preach. That should give you a clue. It is a real problem. Sometimes, God will tell you. Listen and ask Him.

Do you remember the story of Balaams donkey, God made the donkey speak. Ask God in your prayer for discernment, sometimes God will spill out words out of your mouth to a false prophet, before it even reaches your brain, that happened to me once, the guy had fooled thousands of people, then all of a sudden God made words pour out of my mouth to him revealing that he was a phony. WOW!!!!! I was shocked, the same thing that happened to Balaams donkey happened to me.
---Cynthia_1 on 3/16/07

the best way to sniff out a phoney is not be one.
---Pharisee on 3/16/07

I surely appreciate your concern.
On human point of view it's very difficult to know. But through the Holy Spirit as we pray, will give us some insight. More still check their fruit, is it the fruit of the Holy Spirit?
