God went to Abraham before he received the Promises.
Before Abe was circumcised, God came to him and gave him the Promise of Salvation!

sovereignty = supreme and only authority which is God alone. Did you know the Pope claims to be sovereign?? We know this is blasphemy as only God is sovereign...Also God does not commit the evil in the world. Satan does! Satan 's plan need to be played out fully for the world to realize Satan's accusations against God are lies. God is loving, Satan is evil.God's name will be vindicated at Christ's return! Amen

Yes, God is sovereign, but He still cannot do whatever He wants to when He wants to all of the time. For example, if a person was going to kill him/herself God could not stop them from choosing to do so. He gave them a freedom of choice.
God wants all healed, but because of a person holding unforgiveness God cannot respond to his/her faith.(Mark 11:25-26).
Sometimes our actions or decision will limit God.

#2. Malanie: Praise be to God that even when they think that, His very nature, He is still on the Throne, Ruler of the Universe. God listens and will judge their hearts at a later time. He allows them to go on and on, for their time to die has not come yet. I might not know everything of God, but what I do know, is that He will never stop been Ruler of all, (God) no matter the choices man make. When they are judged, they cannot say, no one told them. There will be no excuse whatsover.

Melanie, I feel the same way you do about the sovereignty of God that is out there today, which is horrible, false and unbibical. It tears at the heart of God. He has become what man have made Him. People speaking they have Authority over Him. They have the power over God. A soverign God at that. With their theory, they bring down His Attributes of Omniscience, Omnipotent, Omnipresence in order to believe what they do. And they preach these god of no power to everyone, and boast in doing too.

I feel with all my heart that the sovereignty of God doctrine that is out there today is false..horrible..and unbiblical. It is a convenient way to blame God for anything Satan does or anything we do that is just stupid. It makes for a weak..double minded Christian that never knows who his/her enemy is. I refuse to live my life under such horrible bondage.

God, the eternally self-existant One, does exactly what He wants, exactly when He wants, exactly how He wants. He asks no-one's permission, and needs no-one's help.

Sovereignty of God===+Supreme authority of God. "Nay but, o man, who art thou that repliest against God. God is not subject to any power or any abstract rule or law which could be conceived as superior to or other than Himself. In other words==God is the boss. He knows more than you do. So how come noone is calling out to Him? Our gov. could sure use His help.

God is the Ruler over all; Jesus is perfect, above reproach, and in complete control over all his creation. With a word he can make all things vanish, and with another word he can call things into existence which are not visible.

Amen Tommy & Tom2.

When I read the questions asked by Lisa & Theodore the answers given by you were answers I myself was inspired to give. We all have access to the mind of Christ However The Father does not force us to embrace it, or respond to it. All of the responses to the Sovereignty of God are absolutes.

According to Scripture, ALL mankind is "dead in our trespasses and sin," and therefore, unable to do anything to save himself. God has to bring us to life spiritually in order for us to receive the free gift He has given us.
---tommy3007 on 3/23/07

Pls tommy, could you explain "therefore, even our choice for God would be predicated by Him doing something in our hearts before we could respond." Does it mean God predestines individuals b4 they are called, even whether they like it or not? Thanks.
---theod3582 on 3/23/07

Lisa, Man's "free-will" has absolutely NO effect on God, or His decisions. If He were influenced by anything or anyone, other than Himself, He would not be in absolute control. Our will is tainted by the sin nature, therefore, even our choice for God would be predicated by Him doing something in our hearts before we could respond.
---tommy3007 on 3/21/07

lisa, our free will does not affect God in the least.what it does do is affect our relationship with him.we choose cbey,or discbey,we choose life ,or death.God does not change.the only thing that saves us is God is the same and can not lie.what he says he does, and what he says we can have we can have.but there will be a judgement day when God judges all of humanity for their free will choices.
---tom2 on 3/21/07

I'm in total agreement with all the responses made so far.

Sovereignty: As a verb means dominion, rule, power, control

As a noun means independence, autonomy, self government.

All these are artributes of Almighty God. That is why WE must reverence and worship Him. God bless you for asking this important question. God bless you all for the brilliant answers.

We are living in man's day evidenced by the chaotic conditions of the world mankinds free will is ruling Here on Earth today. When a person becomes saved they turn their free will over to the Lord Jesus Christ. But in time God's total sovereignty will completely rule. This takes place after the millennium and stretches into eternity.

A THEOLOGICAL PHRASE===The Sovereignty of God.=== That God is in control of the universe. [His Holy character,] He must punish sin. But He has provided Salvation for all who trust Christ.
---catherine on 3/21/07

So if God is in total control, how does free will affect the sovereignty of God?
---Lisa on 3/21/07

Sovereignty means God has the right to do whatever He desires and lucky for us He is a loving, just, merciful father.

Sovereignty means that God is in total control; not mankind.

God is the creator of all things.time,space,matter,spirit,everything.everthing exists because of him and for him,all things are held together because of him.he is the alpha and omega, the begining and the end,and has ALL power.God can if he wanted to to just destroy everything, if he chose other words God can do whatever he wishes whenever he wishes too whatever or whoever he wishes at any time.
