As the Orthodox Church sings:

Christ is risen from the dead,
Trampling down death by death,
And upon those in the tombs bestowing life.

Point out that the Crucifixion is NOT the entire story.

Where does it say that Christ was beaten any more than they did any other man in those days or that He was beaten without any mercy? All I can find is that He was smote by the soldiers and then blindfolded and smote about the face and asked to tell them who did it. What I find about being smote is simply -to be struck with the hand. You tell me where to look, dont tell me what you think it says, I want to read for myself. Thanx.

Kim - Is this the only possible time your kids would be scared of something? Unlikely considering what kind of movies are on t.v. which are considered "normal" these days; so why water-down something which is so much more important? The scary details of Jesus' death are what help make it real and demand attention, and therefore taken more seriously. If you made the sacrifice He did for you would you be pleased if somebody told a "sanitized" version of it?

I will never teach false teachings to my kids about has nothing whatsoever to do with our Lord ..Tammus is the purpose for easter not Christ. The only thing Christ asked us to remember was the Sabbath of the 4th command. Never His death and resurection..Ishtar/easter has nothing 2do with Christ. It is false teachings slipped into christianity by the pagans when they joined church about the 2nd century.DONT EVER CONNECT OUR LORD WITH SUCH PAGAN RITUALS.

The real story of Calvary and the resurrection is a wonderful opportunity to share with young kids the truth about sin and what sin in men's hearts will do. We emphasize that it was hatred of His love that led sinners to crucify Him. We show that it was by revealing His love and allowing sinners to reveal their hearts that the way was opened for sinners to be saved and sin ultimately be destroyed. He overcame evil with good. What a wonderful story to revive hope and cast out fear, even in adults.

We must teach children and adults exactly what the word of God says. (We cellebrate his death untill he comes)not just one changeing day every year but the word says we cellebrate his death until he comes. We share the wine and bread to remember as often as we do, as Jesus said. Evang. Rick Brandt

Candice: The trinity didn't come from pagan gods. There is one God, one Jesus and one Holy Spirit. First there is God, he sent forth his son, Jesus. After Jesus went away he sent the Holy Ghost as our comfortor. In the begining was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Jn 1:1&14. I don't see how you became born again and not believe in the trinity.
---Rebecca_D on 4/9/07

Candice why should anyone believe what you say? You have been a Jehovah Witness, a Mormon and now back to the JWs.
This is out of your own mouth. You need to study the Scriptures for yourself and stop letting the cults teach you their doctrine.
---Elder on 4/10/07

Candice:Candidly as long as you stay a JW you will never have the opportunity to share in the explaination of the Blessed Trinity, when the time comes .Lari S can agree all he wants but he will suffer the same fate .

A child is saved the same way as an adult. They might not understand all the big theological terms. But, they must still understand the basic salvation message. They have to realize that they do wrong things and that Jesus can forgive them for the bad things they do. They must ask Jesus to forgive them for their bad actions. Next, they must believe that Jesus is God's son and that he rose from the dead. Finally, they must ask Jesus to come into their heart and believe that he will. Joy9988

Hi Paul; loved your answer--almost made me cry!! :) Priceless wisdom in what you said; God bless you :)
---Mary on 4/9/07

Candice, thanks for your comments. I am in 100 percent agreement with your assessment in regards to the pagan origin of Easter and the man-made dogma/doctrine of Trinity which is contrary to the truth of the Almighty Creator. Peace be unto you.

Talk to them about the love and goodness of God. Share and expound on John 3:16. Explain that God gave his son by allowing Jesus to die so that we wouldn't go to hell. Explain that God loved the people in the world more than he loved living. As they grow and mature, they will come into the realization of the suffering saviour and the lordship of Christ. Joy9988

you know God wants us to be like little chirldren playing and laughing and having a good time. maybe if you took the time to watch them hunting eggs. you will see that is what God wants us to be like with him. wanting to learn about him happy, having fun, laughing, injoying our life in Christ.
---Paul on 4/7/07

I teach my kids the truth. And that the ones that doesn't have Jesus living in their hearts when they die, will go to hell to be with Satan and the demons. When my kids come and ask as question about the bible, I tell them the truth. I don't beat around the bush. But I answer in a way that they would understand. And if I don't know the answer right then. I tell them Let mommy seek God and mommy will let you know what God tells me.

It is hypocritical for parents to admonish their children for lying, but they continue to lie and make mockery of Jesus by celebrating this pagan holiday. Lari_S

I agree Lari_S ,my question is then why lie to them with teachings in the church in general with Pagan backgrounds like the trinity?the idea of the 3 in 1 came from the Pagan Gods, for example,so why teach it since Jehovah God is NOT a trinity?makes you want to go hmmmmmm.

It is a shame that many Christians teach their children lies, fairy-tales, myths and fables about Jesus concerning Easter instead of the truth. It is hypocritical for parents to admonish their children for lying, but they continue to lie and make mockery of Jesus by celebrating this pagan holiday.
---Lari_S on 4/6/07

Candice, I do agree with you 100%, These eggs and rabbit, i dont see it, i never understood that. Yes, it is the passover, as jesus and his follows kept, and still does.
---winna on 4/5/07

It is important, not to scare children so much. What you would do is soften the details; I would make it simpler, telling them that many people are Bad,in the World, and hurt the Lord. What Jesus did, was offer His Life, so that God our Father welcomes us closer to His arms of Love and Hope. He draws us near by sharing his Grace and comfort.According to this sweet message in Bible (Jude 1:1),we "have been called, are loved by God the Father, and are kept by Jesus Christ".
---rosem4839 on 3/29/07

Simple. We celebrate passover, not Easter. We celebrate what the Jewish people do, without being Jewish, however we remember Jesus was crucified during PassOver, not a week later on so called "Easter"So there fore there is no Easter eggs, nor bunny rabbits except if my inlaws drop off them, though I told them no thanks,

And what if the children come and ask what is the devil? What are you going to say? Say as little as you can and let them find out for themselves when older? No you teach them now without sugar coating it, then they will know. I teach my kids about heaven, hell, demons, Satan. Why not tell them what all Christ went through for them? they will want to know how he died, and why. why not tell them the whole story of Jesus Christ?
---Rebecca_D on 3/27/07

I have explained the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ hundreds of times over the years in children's church. No child has ever become scared. They remember the part about Jesus being up in Heaven with His Father more than anything else.
---Susie on 3/27/07

You don't want to scare the children. So don't tell them about Christ's beating. Just tell them Christ was crucified on the cross , died and Rose form the dead. Glory to God. He lives today and will live tomorrow. Praise God.
May God Richly Bless you and your family.
---Lloyd on 3/26/07

If the children are old enough to understand, I'd tell them the truth. I told my kids ages 7 & 5 the truth about Jesus. I told them how they spit, laughed, mocked, threw rocks at him. How they beat him over and over again. And how they hung him on the cross and the beat nails in his hands, and feet. And after the 3rd day, he arose again. There isn't any point beaten around the bush about it, tell it like it is.

Kim, even if you explained the crucifixation to young kids under a certain age, would they really understand what you're saying? Why would you want to tell a child Jesus was "beat?" I was raised Catholic and was taught, "Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead, and because of that, we celebrate His resurrection on Easter Sunday.
