Life More Abundantly

I am a counselor and leader in our church, and I find many people struggle with Jesus' words, "I have come to give life, and life more abundantly." 1)What do YOU think Jesus meant? 2)What do you think is YOUR obstacle (if any), to seeing it manifest in your life?

"I have come to give life, and life more abundantly

this verse has absolutely NOTHING to do with life on earth as a flesh and blood human being ...which is why NO human being could "manifest" what Christ is already GIVEN to Christians in a future promise of SALVATION

most struggle with this verse by lies fed to them from ministers who have NO understanding of Gods Word

Christ spoke about the only life that matters which is GIFT of salvation to live an ETERNAL LIFE at our resurrection ....TO GIVE LIFE MORE abundantly is the spirit life we will be born into ...the promise at Christ return

Abundance comes in the Knowledge of HIM.

Praise God susan....

In Law school you maybe challenged with time. The Spirit will Guide you...
Take care of the Temple...

God can give revelation of the MEDIATOR...

JESUS POSITON FOR US...PLEDING OUR CASE BEFORE THE FATHER..while the enemy is falsely accusing us.

It's your heart he sees...
Your confession is made,he will adjust your life for HIM.

That's why we surrender and pray in faith...
Your will,not mine.

Do everything with Praise of your Father.
Thru His Spirit-Holy Spirit{Christ in you},he will resurrect the Word{Jesus}IN YOU.
Faith by HEARING AND HEARING by the WORD of God.

Gods Peace/Blessing to you.

"9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

Those who follow Jesus will be saved and enter into a state of eternal life, which is a "more abundant" state than our present temporal existence.

The pastor of a local 'church' often cites this verse and claims that Jesus meant for our PRESENT circumstances to be characterized by 'abundance' (health and wealth, basic WoF stuff) when we follow Him.

The prophecies are being fulfilled in the bible I know you know and God of Heaven and Earth has made a way for His people to be redeemed and reconciled to Him all we have to do is to follow His instructions which are to repent, name our sins in the Name of His Son, our Lord, Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and then be baptized in the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost and then we all shall know the truth. In these last days God has prepared a way know that.

i am struggling with that right now. i don't feel as if i am living my life abundantly. i feel tired and stressed. i am in law school and that is basically my life now. i don't have a job i like nor am i doing anything that i feel is contributing to spreading the word of God or aiding others. i had an opportunity to be a big sister to a young girl who i felt needed me but i couldn't because i am so busy with school and they asked for assistance in the church for a youth rally and i couldn't help because of school. i feel that it is in the school is in the way but i can't quit because i have nothing else. i pray about it but i don't know what to do.

Part 1 Well, the truth is this. In the old testament era there were 613 laws that the Jews were told to follow. Firstly these laws were only meant for the Jews not the rest of us. Secondly Yahweh God realized that mankind could not possibly comply with all of these laws as we as humans were not perfect as he is. He also realized that with all of these laws humans could not have a life.
---Larry on 2/18/08

Part 2 If you complied with all 613, you couldn't even live. So Yahsuha the Messiah came so that our sins would be forgiven for all of the laws that we imperfect humans were breaking and condeming ourselves to death. Now all of our sins, past, present, and future are forgiven as long as we ask for that forgiveness and repent. Always remember one thing.
---Larry on 2/18/08

Part 3 If on one hand you have an all powerful, all forgiving and loving God, and on the other hand you have the Devil, which one of these beings would want you to feel guilty about anything???? Certainly not Yahweh God. So if you are feeling guilty about something, just ask forgiveness and repent of it and go about your life.

We need to be consistent in seeking Him. Jesus promised us in Hebrews 11, that He is a rewarder to them who dilligently seek Him. In Jeremiah, God promises us that we will find Him after that we have sought Him with all of our hearts. If we draw nigh unto God He will draw nigh unto us (James 5:2). That is His promise and it is very reliable.

Part 1 The more abundant life floods my soul virtually every day. Just this morning at church the Holy Spirit told me to witness to a lady. Well I did not know this Lady(about 30 years old) and as I was just visiting this church I was wondering how I would do this witnessing when suddenly the lady gets up and goes outside the sanctuary.(Going to the bathroom) I immediately followed her out and waited on her to come out of the bathroom.

Part 2 as begin to witness to her, her entire countenance begin to change and then she prayed for her salvation and received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Later another person came to me with a man's name and phone number and says this man does not have long to live please talk to him. I just got off the phone from talking to this man and he readily, openly and eagerly prayed for his salvation after hearing a witness to him.----- Thank you Jesus for filling my life abundantly.

The love of the world is the obstacle for all, and that obstacle has many faces.

That abundant life is the closeness and assurance of his love and fellowship. The Spirit instantly confirms truth, you can look it up after God speaks (this might take years to pin down in some cases) but the truth of the Holy Spirit will not fall to fact it is instead confirmed by it and through our obedience to what he says.

"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. oh what a foretaste of glory divine"
---Pharisee on 3/28/07

I find the abundant life is experienced when I am grateful for the things I have, and show that gratitude to God. I have been making a daily gratitude list, and thanking God for the little things. In doing that, I am experiencing much more peace and abundance of God's grace, love and forgiveness.

There are a few obstacles we all face to get this abundant life. Sin can surely hinder it. And without faith we will not receive it either. Faith is what brings into existence those things that are not. The abundant life is much more available through righteous living and faith.

Every believer God gives us tasks to do for His men and to the world to reach them for the gospel of the Lord.Being a pastor's wife I am facing a great task which God manifest in my life. Our country suffer hardship all this years past. Financially families directly are affected. My skill is about knowledge on the livelihood program and managing it. We sometimes have a program for them to be of help to the family, the womens. Skillfully I teach them. That is my gift from God.

maryann, you see we first need to understand what makes life abundant first.what do we seek?fleshly needs,or spiritual needs.if we concern ourselves with money, cars, fun, bigger homes, keeping up with the jones senarios.we won,t have the abundant life promised by jesus.jesus was talking about spiritual abundance, peace, joy, hope, wisdom, things the flesh won,t supply, and is actually life giving.

Personally i think the greatest obstacle is actually believing that they deserve it in the first place when they cannot see themselves beyond where they are.Telling someone about a big God when they can't put food on the table is challenging. They need to know and focus on God and not their situations. They need to allow God to transform their mind to perceive His things rather than the things they can see around them.

Abundant life is having enough to take care of your needs as well as having enough left over to give to the spreading of the Gospel. Abundant life is not only prospering financially, but is is also being prosperous emotionally, physically, and spirtually. The reason why we don't experience the abundant life is we limit the power of God with negative words of disbelief, fear, and lack of faith. Joy9988

lets see God came to earth as a carpenter.neither he nor his family seemed well off.after he started his ministry he owned nothing material save his clothes on his back.were was his abundant life?he was god and poor.BUT was he poor absolutely not. THATS MY POINT. we think abundance and we think happy all the time and cars and homes and money, and health.never spiritual.

abundance, having more than you need,a great supply.what did jesus mean?an abundance of the flesh?or does he mean to seek the treasures that rust not.are we seeking an abundant fleshly life,or an abundant spiritual life.jesus came to give life, well you are already alive,or are you?
---tom2 on 3/27/07

part2 the abundant life has nothing to do with your all comes from being a disciple,a follower, abeleiver in jesus, and living in love with God and your neighbor.laying up treasures in heaven were rust and moth can not destroy them.whats your goal?a porfolio that rivles your neighbor,or treasures of the spirit that you will be rewarded for in heaven?

Life more abundantly... I think growing up in the United States - or just being human, the definition for "abundantly" perhaps is different than what Jesus meant. Jesus has made my life more abundant - by His presence, His Word, His Spirit, His people. Any ideal or principle that we can hold on to - Jesus fulfills and extends to eternity. He exemplifies love, patience, kindness, wisdom. He gives wisdom and provides for every need. HE makes our lives abundant.
---jacka9565 on 3/27/07

Maryann, the abundant life is lived through Him. "In Him we live and move and have our being." "I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me, etc.,"
Life abundantly is living in the secret place of the most High God. Spending time in prayer. Studying and Meditating on the Word everyday. Worship Him. Praise Him. Thank Him for shedding His blood for your sins.

Part 2 - finishing up what I was saying:
As you "seek ye first the Kingdom of God," you will begin to see the hand of God move in mighty ways upon your life like He has mine. My obstacle to seeing the abundant life is lack of total faith. I believe God can do it, but I keep think "he won't do it for me." Not feeling worthy enough and that's a snare from satan himself.
---donna6598 on 3/27/07

Depends on what abundantly means to you.
Are you talking money?
Are you talking sow your seed so you can see money 'manifest' back in your personal bank account?
If that is what you are referring to, I think some of us are sick of the prosperity gospel and can see right through that Scriptural error.
---Bob on 3/27/07

Well, Jesus certainly didn't mean an abundance of this world's goods. "The foxes have their holes, and the birds their nests, but the Son of Man doesn't have a place to lay His head." However, there are too many foolish carnal Christians who teach that God wants you rich despite the words of Jesus Himself.

It's the kind of life God Himself has--the ZOIN AIONION of John 3:16 that Jesus meant.
---Jack on 3/27/07

Jesus mean when he said," life more abundantly". This more abundant life cannot be reached as long as we are suffering under the heavy weight of guilt. We can rid ourselves of guilt if we will surrender ourselves totally to the Lord Jesus Christ. Then our lifes will be free and more abundant!!
