The fruits are planted when you are saved and begin to grow as you grow spiritually. We are to dilegently seek the wisdom and knowledge of God/Jesus through the study of His word and exercising our faith obediently. Throughout this process, we continually develop spiritual fruits that others can observe and actually see Christ's nature in us. He is the vine and we are the branches which bear the fruit. If we have no fruit, we do not know Him.

Greetings.Love ,joy, peace are quickly mastered. The others;temperance, longsuffering, patience and etc.are not quickly mastered but if not in this life then in the next one.The increasing of ones faith by endurance is not immediately placed into one's skills but is developed

Nancy, fruit is developed in your life. It starts out with a seed, that seed being the incorruptable seed of Christ. Then that seed of love, peace, joy, kindness, etc., grows and develops as you commune with God. As you do what the word says to do. As you go through trials and let the Holy Spirit develop that fruit in your life. God Bless you.

The thief was yet to receive in indwelling of the Spirit, yet was influence & prompted of the Spirit to "exhibit" faith & compassion.

"What if the fruit of the Holy Spirit is not present in your life, are you really saved?"

Yes, If you have confessed Jesus' lordship & believe He has risen. Salvation is the Gift of God by His grace thru his faith, which are both His gifts to man before salvation. That measure of Faith once recognized then grows as it is exercised thru implementation in words & actions that demonstrates its presence. And Remember, faith operates best thru love .

I must clarify something. If one is saved, that one is in-dwelt, prompted & empowered of the Holy Spirit to submit his/her will to Father. With his/her will submitted, the Spirit & the fruit of the Spirit are made clearly apparent in & through that one. Not thru that ones force of will or strength, by His Spirit. Therefore if the fruit is not present that one must look within to truly discern were his/her focus truly lies. For a "good tree" will bear good fruit.

No. A person has to learn to love their enemies, has to learn what joy is. When I first got saved, I had to learn how to forgive some people, I had to learn to love my enemies. Believe me it is still hard at times. Fruits of the spirit are those gracious dispositions and habits which the spirit produces in those in whome he dwells and works.

In answering this question I am reminded of one person(the thief on the cross)that was promised heaven by the Lord Jesus Christ. Question--- what fruit of the spirit did the thief on the cross exhibit??
---Mima on 4/20/07

Yeah. The day you make Jesus your Lord you get born from above(John 3:3-7)

The fruit(produce or offspring) of the Spirit is in every believer.

If the fruit of the Spirit isn't being shown in a person's life they are walking in the flesh producing works of the flesh(Galatians 5:19-21)

Some folks spend too much time walking in the flesh to show the fruit of the Spirit.
Paul talked about the flesh in Romans 6 & 7, but showed the liberty from walking in the spirit(Romans 8).
