I often wonder about Mary - how old was she when she had Jesus, what became of her after He died, etc.
I think if these things were relevant, they'd be in the Bible. It's not important for us to know these things - is it?

To me, what is most important is the message of our Savior.

As fgar as I`m aware, the Assumption of the BVM did not become official RCC doctrine till about 1850. I was not aware that it was an Orthodox doctrine. Mind you, Pope Jack is a mind all of his own.
As to the assumption, where was she buried when it happened? One tradition is she died in Jeruslem, anther places her in Ephesus.
---mike8384 on 4/29/07

Jack - Are you trying to say that Mary had a special rapture all of her own? That is what is going to happen to all Christians who have died in Christ. They will be raptured out of the grave. As I have said before and keep on saying, that is unique RCC doctrine, which means that you are believing the lies of the RCC.
---Helen_5378 on 4/25/07

The only two person who ever been assumed into heaven, body and soul, was Elijah and Enoch.

Elijah was taken body and soul to heaven (II Kings 2:11). He like Enoch (Genesis 5:21-24; Hebrews 11:5), never experienced death, but instead was taken to heaven.

The Bible does not mention Mary as such who was assumed into heaven body and soul. The RCC are so caught up with Mary that they pass lies about her. Shame on you people! God Have mercy on your immortal souls!

Emcee: I will pray for your enlightenment. Man made tradition will lead to nowhere.

I would love scripture references to this lie about Mary being assumed into Heaven. Since none has been recited, it is just another RCC guess. I choose to follow God -- not RCC.
---Debbie on 4/25/07

Whitney, that is sound advice. And I am going to hold all Protestants to that, and encourage all Catholics on this site to do the same for now. I want to see how this holds up when examining the more important doctrines such as salvation and being born again.
---lorra8574 on 4/25/07

Debbie: Jack has made a bad assumption ;)

Mary is in a grave just like every one else that dies but soon as she died her spirit went back to god from which it cam

Chipper, now rather than playing upon your vanity or labelling you a blasphemer, I would like to request a little intellectual integrity.

On our earlier discussion on Mary's virginity, I pointed out that Mary the mother of James and Joses was the aunt of Jesus, not mother, and that the father of this same James was Alphaeus not Joseph. James the Less, Apostle to Jesus and sometimes called "brother" to Jesus is in fact a cousin. Will you concede that?
---lorra8574 on 4/25/07

Rebecca, the bones of many people from the first century AD are still around. Why do you suppose that Mary's bones mysteriously disintegrated to dust?

First century practice in that region was to lay the body out in a tomb, wrapped and annointed with spices and oils. After a period of one year, the flesh would have disintegrated and the bones would be put into ossuaries and these put and sealed into smaller cutouts in the tomb for permanent burial.
---lorra8574 on 4/25/07

Rebecca P2: Mary is recorded to have died, and been buried, but when they checked on her body for permanent burial, it was completely gone with nothing remaining at all.

Given that there is strong Biblical presidence for God taking up certain individuals bodily into Heaven, this is the only logical explanation.
---lorra8574 on 4/25/07

**She was buried on earth just like every other human being who dies. **

And THEN she was assumed.

Helen, you don't know RC doctrine as much as you think it does.

The Bodily Assumption of the Virgin is NOT just a Roman Catholic idea.

And the Reformers taught it, too.
---Jack on 4/25/07

We donot know what age she died, though I would advise as the bibel says NOT to go past scripture, what was written, anyone adding their thoughts after the scrolls were written are not acceptable. All we need to know is Mary was Jesus' mother here on Earth. She will be reunited with her son at the ressurection.
---Whitney on 4/25/07

Part 2:

But as I've said before, it's pointless to discuss Marian doctrine with someone who doesn't even believe in the REAL Jesus who TRULY took His humanity from the Virgin Mary.

Someone like you, Helen.

RebeccaD::History says her body in toto was not found soon sfter her burial, when they rolled away the stone,as was the practice in those days. you are talking eons after the event. She was assumed into heaven.

---Debbie--- please do not question false beliefs and it disturbs those who have falsely believed!
---Mima on 4/25/07

Jack - Mary was not assumed into Heaven. She was buried on earth just like every other human being who dies. What you say is RCC false doctrine. And you claim you are not RCC. Something is amiss.
---Helen_5378 on 4/25/07

Where in scripture does it say Mary was assumed into heaven? Please do not cite RCC rhetoric, but rather scripture references. Would it not be rather important to note this assumption IF it were true? Since it is not mentioned ... I do not fall victim to lies and confusion. Satan is the master of both.

When a person dies, after a long period of time, their bones decay and turn into dust. So I don't believe Mary's bones are anywhere to be found.
---Rebecca_D on 4/25/07

Why is it that certain false religions are like little ignorant things which refuse to come to the knowledge of the truth. Are they really that dense, or are they just completely brainwashed and deluded with lie.
---Eloy on 4/24/07

**Mary's bones are in her grave which is likely to be in the city of Nazareth of Galilee, where she lived with her husband Joseph.**

* W * R * O * N * G * !!!

Her grave is in Jerusalem, but her bones are not there as some time shortly after her death, her body was assumed into heaven.

Christina::You are correctShe was created by God & from her, GOD introduced HIS son,to the world. Unlike Adam who was the First creation & Eve taken out of Adam. But HE Jesus was also God as well as Man,IT was HIM who sent the paracleteto those who followed Jesus Doctrines & Teachings in all these people who claim were taken out by God from the RCC were not by the Holy Spirit but by the usurper of one who calls himself the spirit of light, which we all know is darkness.

I thought Jesus was the answer to Satan's interference, and we are led into ALL truth by the HS, not Mary.

She lived at least 52 years, because she was recorded to be alive in Jerusalem in Acts 1:12-14. Mary's bones are in her grave which is likely to be in the city of Nazareth of Galilee, where she lived with her husband Joseph.
---Eloy on 4/23/07

Scripture is silent. The last we hear of Mary is at the Upper Room prayer meeting in the Book of Acts (Acts 1:14). After that, there is not a word. God already knew what the RCC would do to Mary to make an idol out of her, so maybe that is why He is silent after that.
---Helen_5378 on 4/24/07

Emcee: I'm going on what the bible says, and it doesn't mention how or when she died, or at what age. I didn't go into dept by reading other books, because no one knows the answer. I know there are prophecies about her giving birth in the Old Testament. but I used scriptures for when she was alive in the New Testament. We know by reading the bible, that there is only three that bares record in heaven, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost 1 Jn 5:7.

RebeccaD:: The bible is a book about God & our salvation;it is the book showing the creation of the world.Mary was briefly mentioned at the start of Genesis till her reception of The holy spirit in Acts There are other books written about Her but Her prominence is limited in the Bible She was Gods answer to Satans Interference, this was her main Role: she points the way to her son even as she lives in Christ Her son.
---Emcee on 4/23/07
