How To Become Righteous

How can we become one of the righteous refered to in this verse? First Peter 3:12 "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." And thereby have our prayers heard?

Actually this passage of Scripture is from psalm 34. The only prayer that a sinner can Pray, and that God will hear is " Lord, I admit that I am a sinner, and accept Jesus Christ as my Savior, and I ask that you accept me in Jesus Christ". That is a prayer that God will hear and that God will answer. God Bless!

"Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven/God AND HIS righteousness...." Jesus also said to abide in Him, but just to abide in Him one MUST keep all of the ten commandments. Here is the thing: If Jesus said the Holy Spirit will lead you to ALL truth, then truth is what matters. The opposit of truth is lies. Therefore beliving or practicing a lie is sin and the opposit of being righteous. Rev. 21:8 and 22:15 prove that beliving a lie is dangerious!

It "works" because it is God's work to bring forth his children into the world. Consider this, what part did Lazarus play in being raised from the dead? Or, looking more closely to home, what part did you have in your physical birth? Who chose to bring you into the world? Scriptures reveal that God's children "...were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:3)

The word says "known unto God from the beginning are all of his works." It also says that his "members were written before they were."
The Lord has always known who will love him and who is written in the Book of Life.
We don't and that is why we show him our faith when we go into all of the world.
He already knows who will hear us and repent.
He hears them.

Jesus did come for the sinner(while we were yet sinners He died for us)All mankind has been reconciled to God through Christ. Christ is the reason all sinners have access to the Father in prayer (how else could man turn to a saviour?)...Jesus took sin away..

Rebecca you touch on a big Question. If God will not hear a sinner's prayer. How then does one become a child of God?
The scriptures also say, as you're well aware of that,"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,"
first Timothy 1:15. So how does all this work?

God hears the prayers of his children. He hears our cries. but those that do evil (sinners, backsliders) God doesn't hear there cries or prayers. Because in John 9:31 it tells us that God doesn't hear sinners praying until they become a Child of God and do his will, then he will hear their prayers.

If our own hearts do not condemn us, then we can stand boldly before the throne. If one willfully practices sin, the eyes of the Lord turn away until he/she repents. If one is following Gods will to the best of their ability and seeking the Lord, he/she is the righteousness of Jesus Christ and is continually forgiven for mistakes. The Lord hears and answers the prayers of faith of these.

DoryLori & Rick....I agree. It is through faith in Christ that we are made righteous.

Righteousness from God comes through faith (Romans 3:22).

We already are righteous in Christ according to 2Corinthians 5:21. Jesus became sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Our prayers are answered when we ask in faith.(Mark 11:24)

When we pray we are to put God in remembrance of what He has promised in His word.

The will of God is the word of God.(1John 5:14-15)

greetings.Does evil ones pray to God?Did Paul pray that God will assist him to exterminate the christians? The Father gives rain to the just and the unjust yet he does not participate in man's evil ways.Every one is treated equal for God knocks on every door and wants to be let in to dine. When one exhibits the thirst for righteousness he or she will be filled with it and drink freely from the cup of eternal righteousness.
