The fear of the Lord is a great blessing for those who truly fear him for they are the ones who will obey Him and it is they who truly love Him. But for those who do not fear Him, Woe unto them because no one can put anything pass what they will or will not do because they sow to the flesh from which proceeds all unrighteousness and God's wrath is upon them.

The bible does not SAY that we should fear God (it can't speak). This is an important point (DISCERNMENT). I LOVE who can speak (God). This is important also. Unbelievers should FEAR not knowing God, it is the BEGINNING of wisdom, but once we come to know Him, our love should be PERECTED, 1 John 4:18, Isaiah 29:13.

Scripture is balanced, OT with NT.
Wisdom, must be careful not to be wise in our own eyes.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. (Psalm 33:8)

You are to be feared; who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry? (Psalm 76:7)

I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

The Lord controls your eternity. What happens on earth is minor and temporary. Eternity if forever.

It is not wise to anger Him who controls your eternity. If it is too hard for you to bear pain & anguish here for a few years, how much harder would it be to bear pain & anguish forever?

Jesus (God the Son) said . .
Matt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Hi Toby; I confess I'm not sure; it could be spiritual problem if the child hasn't heard swear words before but most children probably have, unfortunately. I once fed a woman in a nursing home who I had to just feed between cussing bouts! :D I think she had a neurological problem though.

It means to me that there is an absolute reference point in the universe and it is Creator God. Once a person understands that there are so many things that come to light.
Also read Pr 8:13.

Mary, it is interesting.
What I was wondering, if a child with Tourettes didn't know any swear words, where would they access them from?
Would you consider that neurological or spiritual? What would cause a child to have swearing outbursts if they had no access to swear words?
---Toby on 6/21/07

Hi Toby--and also Toby! :D Bless you both :) A friend today gave me a beautiful painted boomerang with such an encouraging Scripture on it (1 Peter 5:10); I'm trying to get better at reading the Word--I've got a ways to go but I'm working at it. :)
---Mary on 6/20/07

To the Toby's, part 2: :D In answer to the question about the swearing, I think it can be neurological; my problem is more in the "twitching" aspects of Tourettes, along with the obsessive fears and such. Also, I wish I didn't know any swear words; unfortunately I know them all too well--I'm working at it though, with God's help. :)

Mary, by the way, there are two Toby's. I used Toby, then another Toby started using Toby, and we're coexisting with the same name; without any problems.
I do know what Tourette Syndrome is, outbursts of obscenities and swearing.
If you didn't know any swear words, would you say this is spiritual or neurological?

Thankyou Mary. Poss without knowing it you have voiced Jas 5:16 and so will I. Please dont be scared and continue to work at your faith. If you pray in faith not to be scared then when you feel scared, demand, in the name of Yahushua, that Satan leave you and he MUST go.Sorry I dont know what "Tourettes is. Read James1:5-Prov30:5-2Cor1:9-2Sam22:3
---Toby on 6/18/07

Hi Toby; love your answer! Bless you! I struggle with fear and lack of faith, almost all my life (I'm 43 now) and then I get scared God will be angry with me because of the fears! I also have Tourette's, which I think is the base of a lot of my problems. Anyway, bless you for your encouragement!

I shall tell you that, I would be so afraid of spelling the true God's name with a small g as though He were any other god other than the absolute true living God. Show Him some respect.

fear of the lord is when a cristian follows the command of the lord, and do exactly what god requires you to do in the bible.

The Fear of the Lord is a wonderful thing, that is what it means to me.

Our Father does not want us to be in fear of him. The word fear is generally translated wrong and should be "respect and or reverence". However the correct translation of fear is in 2Tim1:7 We must reverence and respect him and if we dont then fear what he can do, but please don't fear Yahueh or Yahushua. Cruel people keep others in line by fear tactics. Our Father is not that way. He is LOVE not fear.

The unregenerate mind is corrupt and dark. When a person is saved and receives the light of the truth, they begin to have reverence for God and that is the beginning of wisdom. A starting place for the Holy Spirit to begin to lead them into all truth.

Psalms says to serve the Lord with fear and trembling. Jesus said fear him whom after he has killed has the power to cast body and soul into hell. It goes beyong just love or reverence. Jesus said exactly what he meant: fear him!

How many believers dare to be different? You listen to man. Put on some of God's music and start praising Him. Preach to those walls. Don't listen to the heathens, they make jokes quoteing some scripture they do not understand. These men are working for the Devil, and they have their rewards.Do you want to join them for their rewards?

Reverence of the Lord is the begining of understanding of His Word and His 10 commandments which is a transcript of His Holy Character which we all beleivers need to conform to...and by being obedient to all His Laws, it truly shows us how to fear/reverence uphold the Lord Almighty..God is good, all the time...

well u should fear what u love because losing love would be the greatist fear in the world
---silver on 5/16/07

It means to me>>>It's just good sinse. Smart. No fear of God no regard for man, and that is dangerous. Obedience also plays a role. Obedience to the Father. All true Christians take note... We have to live before God.
---catherine on 5/16/07

I guess we have to ask, does God want our fear or love? OR does He want both? but doesnt love cancel out fear?
---duane on 5/16/07

People today do not FEAR GOD, This is why we have lawlessness, They think because they don't see God, He is not around, They think He is not watching all there evil deeds. they think He is not listening to them. A person needs to get a revelation of Him, A person can not live and see God, He is a Loving Father, but His spirit does not always strive with man the Bible tells us. Some say Come Quickly Lord even now. God Forbid, They have made a MOCKERY OF HIS SPIRIT IN TRUE PROPHETS and are Hell bound.

To me, fear means reverence. If I have fear/reverence for the Lord, it keeps me from sinning because I don't want to hurt someone I love and reverence. Does that make sense?
---donna on 5/16/07

Wisdom starts where you fear(reverence & respect) God.
---Rickey on 5/16/07

While our's is a loving God, He has controls of our destiny. God requires obedience. The Bible teaches to fear no man but rather the one who has control of our souls. Bottom line is that God can put us in Hell which is a place of ever lasting torture. With that in mind, why would one play games with Him? It is wise to fear what could result from sin. Friends of the world are enemies of God. That is the beginning of wisdom.
